Sheath-tailed bats (Family Emballonuridae) from the early Pleistocene Rackham’s Roost Site cave deposit in the Riversleigh World Heritage Area, north-western Queensland are the oldest recorded occurrence for the family in Australia. The fossil remains consist of maxillary and dentary fragments, as well as isolated teeth, but until now their precise identity has not been assessed. Our study indicates that at least three taxa are represented, and these are distinguished from other Australian emballonurids based on morphometric analysis of craniodental features. Most of the Rackham’s Roost Site emballonurid remains are referrable to the modern species Taphozous georgianus Thomas, 1915, but the extant species T. troughtoni Tate, 1952 also appears to be present, as well as a very large, as-yet undetermined species of Saccolaimus Temminck, 1838. We identify craniodental features that clearly distinguish T. georgianus from the externally very similar T. troughtoni. Results suggest that the distributions of T. georgianus and T. troughtoni may have overlapped in north-western Queensland since at least the early Pleistocene.Tyler R. King, Troy J. Myers, Kyle N. The present and future of QCD

    Get PDF
This White Paper presents an overview of the current status and future perspective of QCD research, based on the community inputs and scientific conclusions from the 2022 Hot and Cold QCD Town Meeting. We present the progress made in the last decade toward a deep understanding of both the fundamental structure of the sub-atomic matter of nucleon and nucleus in cold QCD, and the hot QCD matter in heavy ion collisions. We identify key questions of QCD research and plausible paths to obtaining answers to those questions in the near future, hence defining priorities of our research over the coming decades

Test-anxious children and adolescents: Psychopathology, cognition, and psychophysiological reactivity

    No full text
Investigates test anxiety in children, yielding clinical insights about test-anxious children and adolescents of interest to teachers and psychologists. The authors describe and evaluate recent advances in, for example, diagnostic interviewing, cognitive assessment, and physiological recording, paying particular attention to psychometric considerations and directions for future research. The authors also explore implications for contemporary cognitive-behavioural intervention programs for test-anxious children and adolescents and tentatively recommend cognitive-behavioural strategies for the treatment of test-anxious children and adolescents
