    Uso de Información de Geolocalización, Usuario y Temporal para la Monitorización de Desastres Naturales en Twitter

    During emergency situation events it is important to acquire as much information about the event as possible, and social media sites like Twitter offer important real-time user contributed data. Typical Information Filtering techniques are keyword-based approaches or focused on co-occurrence with keywords. However, these approaches can miss relevant local information if messages do not contain an initially considered event-related keyword. Considering geolocation, user and temporal information within a pseudo-relevance feedback approach we can find event-related terminology but not co-occurring with initially considered keywords. Thus, taking into account the temporal aspect we can modify a query expansion function like Kullback-Leibler divergence in order to improve the Information Filtering process. Our proposed approaches have been evaluated in two Twitter datasets associated with real-world events, obtaining encouraging results.Cuando se producen eventos relacionados con situaciones de emergencia, es importante acceder a tanta información como sea posible relacionada con dicho evento. En este contexto algunas redes sociales como Twitter suponen un importante recurso de información en tiempo real. La técnicas clásicas de filtrado de información suelen centrarse en el análisis de coocurrencia de términos con el conjunto de palabras clave inicialmente consideradas. Sin embargo, estas aproximaciones pueden perder información, ya que no son capaces de recuperar información relevante que venga expresada con palabras que no coocurran con las palabras clave inicialmente usadas, y que expresan nuestra necesidad de información. Considerar información de geolocalización, usuario o temporal dentro de un enfoque de pseudo-relevance feedback, nos permite encontrar terminología relacionada con el evento, pero no coocurrente con las palabras clave inicialmente consideradas. Por otro lado, considerando el aspecto temporal se puede modificar una función de expansión de consultas como la divergencia de Kullback-Leibler con el fin de mejorar el filtrado de información en estas situaciones de emergencia.     An overview of the lower cretaceous dinosaur tracksites from the mirambel formation in the iberian range (ne spain)

    Up to now, the ichnological vertebrate record from the Barremian Mirambel Formation (NE Spain) has remained completely unknown despite the fact that osteological findings have been reported in recent years. Here we provide an overview of 11 new dinosaur tracksites found during a fieldwork campaign in the year 2011. The majority of these tracksites (seven) preserve small- to medium-sized tridactyl tracks here assigned to indeterminate theropods. Only one footprint presents enough characters to classify it as Megalosauripus isp. Ornithopod tracks identified as Caririchnium isp. and Iguanodontipodidae indet. and sauropod tracks are recorded at two tracksites. The footprints are preserved in a variety of paleoenvironmental conditions and thus display different kinds of preservation (true tracks, shallow undertracks, natural casts and undertrack casts). The ichnological record from the Mirambel Formation seems to be theropod dominated. This is a clear discrepancy with the osteological record identified in this formation, which shows a predominance of ornithopod dinosaurs

    The effect of visual focus on spatio-temporal and kinematic parameters of treadmill running

    The characteristics of a treadmill and the environment where it is based could influence the user’s gaze and have an effect on their running kinematics and lower limb impacts. The aim of this study was to identify the effect of visual focus on spatio-temporal parameters and lower limb kinematics during treadmill running. Twenty six experienced runners ran at 3.33 m s−1 on a treadmill under two visual conditions, either looking ahead at a wall or looking down at the treadmill visual display. Spatio-temporal parameters, impact accelerations of the head and tibia, and knee and ankle kinematics were measured for the final 15 s of a 90 s bout of running under each condition. At the end of the test, participants reported their preference for the visual conditions assessed. Participants’ stride angle, flight time, knee flexion during the flight phase, and ankle eversion during contact time were increased when runners directed visual focus toward the wall compared to the treadmill display (p 0.05). However, the effect size of all biomechanical alterations was small. The Treadmill condition was the preferred condition by the participants (p < 0.001; ESw = 1.0). The results of the current study indicate that runners had a greater mass centre vertical displacement when they ran looking ahead, probably with the aim of compensating for reduced visual feedback, which resulted in larger head accelerations. Greater knee flexion during the flight phase and ankle eversion during the contact time were suggested as compensatory mechanisms for lower limb impacts

    Lethal and Sublethal Effects of Methoxyfenozide on the Development, Survival and Reproduction on of the Fall Armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

    The lethal and sublethal effects of the ecdysone agonist methoxyfenozide on the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith), were investigated by feeding a methoxyfenozide-treated diet to fifth instars until pupation in doses corresponding to the LC10 and LC25 for the compound. Larval mortality reached 8% and 26% in the low and high concentration groups, respectively, on the seventh day of the experiment. A progressive larval mortality of 12% for the LC10 and 60% for the LC25 was observed before pupation. Treated larvae exhibited lower pupal weights, higher pupal mortality, presence of deformed pupae, and more deformed adults than untreated larvae. The incorporation of methoxyfenozide into the diet had a significant effect on the timing of larval development. The development period for males and females was about seven days longer than the controls for both concentrations tested. In contrast, the compound affected neither pupae nor adult longevity. Finally, S. frugiperda adults that resulted from fifth instars treated with methoxyfenozide were not affected in their mean cumulative number of eggs laid per female (fecundity), nor percentages of eggs hatched (fertility), or the sex ratio. Our results suggest that the combination of lethal and sublethal effects of methoxyfenozide may have important implications for the population dynamics of the fall armyworm

    Synthesis and evaluation of new thienyl and bithienyl-bis-indolylmethanes as colorimetric sensors for anions

    The synthesis and full characterization of new bis-indolylmethanes containing thienyl and bithienyl moieties are reported. The sensor ability of the compounds in the presence of halide ions (F-, Cl-, Br- and I-), NO3-, ClO4-, SO42-, CN- and OH- ions was investigated in acetonitrile. The experimental results indicate that they could act as selective chromogenic-sensing molecules for the most basic anions F-, CN- and OH-, as a well-defined color change from yellow to pink was observed.     Acoustic modelling of exhaust devices with nonconforming finite element meshes and transfer matrices

    [EN] Transfer matrices are commonly considered in the numerical modelling of the acoustic behaviour associated with exhaust devices in the breathing system of internal combustion engines, such as catalytic converters, particulate filters, perforated mufflers and charge air coolers. In a multidimensional finite element approach, a transfer matrix provides a relationship between the acoustic fields of the nodes located at both sides of a particular region. This approach can be useful, for example, when one-dimensional propagation takes place within the region substituted by the transfer matrix. As shown in recent investigations, the sound attenuation of catalytic converters can be properly predicted if the monolith is replaced by a plane wave four-pole matrix. The finite element discretization is retained for the inlet/outlet and tapered ducts, where multidimensional acoustic fields can exist. In this case, only plane waves are present within the capillary ducts, and three-dimensional propagation is possible in the rest of the catalyst subcomponents. Also, in the acoustic modelling of perforated mufflers using the finite element method, the central passage can be replaced by a transfer matrix relating the pressure difference between both sides of the perforated surface with the acoustic velocity through the perforations. The approaches in the literature that accommodate transfer matrices and finite element models consider conforming meshes at connecting interfaces, therefore leading to a straightforward evaluation of the coupling integrals. With a view to gaining flexibility during the mesh generation process, it is worth developing a more general procedure. This has to be valid for the connection of acoustic subdomains by transfer matrices when the discretizations are nonconforming at the connecting interfaces. In this work, an integration algorithm similar to those considered in the mortar finite element method, is implemented for nonmatching grids in combination with acoustic transfer matrices.
