Convergent series for lattice models with polynomial interactions

    Get PDF
The standard perturbative weak-coupling expansions in lattice models are asymptotic. The reason for this is hidden in the incorrect interchange of the summation and integration. However, substituting the Gaussian initial approximation of the perturbative expansions by a certain interacting model or regularizing original lattice integrals, one can construct desired convergent series. In this paper we develop methods, which are based on the joint and separate utilization of the regularization and new initial approximation. We prove, that the convergent series exist and can be expressed as the re-summed standard perturbation theory for any model on the finite lattice with the polynomial interaction of even degree. We discuss properties of such series and make them applicable to practical computations. The workability of the methods is demonstrated on the example of the lattice ϕ4\phi^4-model. We calculate the operator ⟚ϕn2⟩\langle\phi_n^2\rangle using the convergent series, the comparison of the results with the Borel re-summation and Monte Carlo simulations shows a good agreement between all these methods.Comment: 25 pages, 14 figure

Introduction. Advanced technologies impress people’s imagination demonstrating the latest achievements (materials, methods, systems, technologies, devices etc.) that dramatically change the world. This, first of all, concerns nanotechnological inventions designed by scientists, engineers and specialists from different countries. Main part. The article provides an abstract overview of inventions of scientists, engineers and specialists from different countries: Germany, Iraq, China, Russia, USA, Ukraine, Sweden, Japan et al. The results of the creative activity of scientists, engineers and specialists, including inventions in the field of nanotechnology and nanomaterials allow, when introduced to industry, achieving a significant effect in construction, housing and communal services, and related sectors of the economy. For example, the invention «Nanomodified building mortar» refers to construction materials and can be used in masonry of ceramic stones, ceramic bricks, hollow bricks in dry and hot climate. The novelty, in respect to the existing construction mortars, is the combination of known components of Portland cement, sand for construction works, amorphous nanomodified silica dioxide, superplasticizer ĐĄ-3, cure retarders of Portland cement, air-entraining resin. The given qualitative and quantitative composition of nanomodified construction mortar makes it possible to obtain the mentioned mixtures in a simple way: for example, in gravity mixer, with evenly distributed components in volume, which is characterized with specified flowability, water-retaining property, controlled hardening period and can be used in dry and hot climate with air temperature up to 40-50°Х. The following inventions in the field of nanotechnology can also be interesting for specialists: a composition of self-compacting construction concrete on the basis of cement matrix, a method of producing polarization-sensitive nanocomposite film on the basis of copper selenide, a method of producing porous moulded article in the form of insulation plaster layer, a method to obtain amorphous nanostructured diamond-like coating, a method of cement surface modification, a system to produce carbon nanotubes, et al. Conclusion. One of the most challenging tasks the economy of every country faces is to increase industrial competitiveness through technological upgrade. From the side of the state and companies the principal object to control in this process are the people and enterprises dealing with introduction of inventions and new technologies

From 2004 to 2014 forty-six patients with sarcomas of the musculoskeletal system with metastatic lesions in the lungs were operated in MRRC. In 22 patients with a primary bone sarcoma metastases were detected in 27% cases, and in 29% of 24 patients with soft tissue sarcomas  metastases were identified at the time of diagnosis. Twenty women and twenty-six men aged 16 to 72 years  (mean age was 39 years) were operated. In most cases metastases were located subpleurally. Solitary metastases were observed in 8 patients (17%), single in 11 (24%) and multiple in 27 (68%) and 18 patients of them had bilateral disease. In all cases, chemotherapy was conducted at the first stage of treatment, according to histology of the tumor. In cases of large metastases or close location to the root of the lung (27 patients) preoperative distal radiotherapy was conducted in hyperfraction regimen with a daily dividing of the dose (2 times a day with an interval of 4 h every other day with single dose of 3 Gy and the total dose of 30 Gy that was isoefficiency to 42 Gy), after that the removal of pulmonary metastases was performed. A total of 73 surgical interventions performed in 46 patients. Most often precision resection of the lung using a neodymium YAG surgical laser MY 40 (wavelength 1318 nm) was performed. One patient underwent pneumonectomy. Videothoracoscopy was used in 6 cases. From 1 to 103 metastases were excised during one intervention. Pneumonia with abscesses were diagnosed in 3 patients, persistent pneumothorax in 5 patients, all complications were treated conservatively. There was no postoperative mortality. Fourteen patients underwent 2 procedures, two patients – 3 procedures, two patients – 4 procedures and one patient had 6 procedures. Follow-up ranged from 3 to 126 months. Twenty-six patients died due to progression of the disease. 3-year and 5-year survival was 46% and 41% respectively. Median survival was 32 months. Thus, the combined treatment of generalized forms of sarcomas of the musculoskeletal system can achieve long-term remission and significantly prolong life. Surgical resection should be applied in patients with solitary and with multiple metastases in the lungs and should be combined with systemic treatment (PCT) and, if indicated, with additional local treatment (distant radiotherapy) of metastases. Precision resection is adequate and well-tolerated method of surgical treatment of metastases in the lungs and does not correlate with severe postoperative complications.ĐĄ 2004 ĐżĐŸ 2014 ĐłĐŸĐŽŃ‹ ĐČ ĐœĐ ĐĐŠ ĐŸĐżĐ”Ń€ĐžŃ€ĐŸĐČĐ°ĐœĐŸ 46 Đ±ĐŸĐ»ŃŒĐœŃ‹Ń… сарĐșĐŸĐŒĐ°ĐŒĐž ĐŸĐżĐŸŃ€ĐœĐŸ-ĐŽĐČĐžĐłĐ°Ń‚Đ”Đ»ŃŒĐœĐŸĐłĐŸ аппарата с ĐŒĐ”Ń‚Đ°ŃŃ‚Đ°Ń‚ĐžŃ‡Đ”ŃĐșĐžĐŒĐž ĐżĐŸŃ€Đ°Đ¶Đ”ĐœĐžŃĐŒĐž лДгĐșох.  У 22 Đ±ĐŸĐ»ŃŒĐœŃ‹Ń… с сарĐșĐŸĐŒĐ°ĐŒĐž ĐșĐŸŃŃ‚Đ”Đč пДрĐČĐžŃ‡ĐœĐŸ ĐŒĐ”Ń‚Đ°ŃŃ‚Đ°Đ·Ń‹  былО ĐČыяĐČĐ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ у 27%, Đ° у 24 Đ±ĐŸĐ»ŃŒĐœŃ‹Ń… с сарĐșĐŸĐŒĐ°ĐŒĐž Â ĐŒŃĐłĐșох тĐșĐ°ĐœĐ”Đč у 29% ĐŒĐ”Ń‚Đ°ŃŃ‚Đ°Đ·Ń‹ былО ĐČыяĐČĐ»Đ”ĐœŃ‹ ĐČ ĐŒĐŸĐŒĐ”ĐœŃ‚ ŃƒŃŃ‚Đ°ĐœĐŸĐČĐ»Đ”ĐœĐžŃ Â ĐŽĐžĐ°ĐłĐœĐŸĐ·Đ°. Software for the frontiers of quantum chemistry:An overview of developments in the Q-Chem 5 package

    Get PDF
This article summarizes technical advances contained in the fifth major release of the Q-Chem quantum chemistry program package, covering developments since 2015. A comprehensive library of exchange–correlation functionals, along with a suite of correlated many-body methods, continues to be a hallmark of the Q-Chem software. The many-body methods include novel variants of both coupled-cluster and configuration-interaction approaches along with methods based on the algebraic diagrammatic construction and variational reduced density-matrix methods. Methods highlighted in Q-Chem 5 include a suite of tools for modeling core-level spectroscopy, methods for describing metastable resonances, methods for computing vibronic spectra, the nuclear–electronic orbital method, and several different energy decomposition analysis techniques. High-performance capabilities including multithreaded parallelism and support for calculations on graphics processing units are described. Q-Chem boasts a community of well over 100 active academic developers, and the continuing evolution of the software is supported by an “open teamware” model and an increasingly modular design

A global experiment on motivating social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic

    Get PDF
Finding communication strategies that effectively motivate social distancing continues to be a global public health priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. This cross-country, preregistered experiment (n = 25,718 from 89 countries) tested hypotheses concerning generalizable positive and negative outcomes of social distancing messages that promoted personal agency and reflective choices (i.e., an autonomy-supportive message) or were restrictive and shaming (i.e., a controlling message) compared with no message at all. Results partially supported experimental hypotheses in that the controlling message increased controlled motivation (a poorly internalized form of motivation relying on shame, guilt, and fear of social consequences) relative to no message. On the other hand, the autonomy-supportive message lowered feelings of defiance compared with the controlling message, but the controlling message did not differ from receiving no message at all. Unexpectedly, messages did not influence autonomous motivation (a highly internalized form of motivation relying on one’s core values) or behavioral intentions. Results supported hypothesized associations between people’s existing autonomous and controlled motivations and self-reported behavioral intentions to engage in social distancing. Controlled motivation was associated with more defiance and less long-term behavioral intention to engage in social distancing, whereas autonomous motivation was associated with less defiance and more short- and long-term intentions to social distance. Overall, this work highlights the potential harm of using shaming and pressuring language in public health communication, with implications for the current and future global health challenges

MUSiC : a model-unspecific search for new physics in proton-proton collisions at root s=13TeV

    Get PDF
Results of the Model Unspecific Search in CMS (MUSiC), using proton-proton collision data recorded at the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1), are presented. The MUSiC analysis searches for anomalies that could be signatures of physics beyond the standard model. The analysis is based on the comparison of observed data with the standard model prediction, as determined from simulation, in several hundred final states and multiple kinematic distributions. Events containing at least one electron or muon are classified based on their final state topology, and an automated search algorithm surveys the observed data for deviations from the prediction. The sensitivity of the search is validated using multiple methods. No significant deviations from the predictions have been observed. For a wide range of final state topologies, agreement is found between the data and the standard model simulation. This analysis complements dedicated search analyses by significantly expanding the range of final states covered using a model independent approach with the largest data set to date to probe phase space regions beyond the reach of previous general searches.Peer reviewe

Development and validation of HERWIG 7 tunes from CMS underlying-event measurements

    Get PDF
This paper presents new sets of parameters (“tunes”) for the underlying-event model of the HERWIG7 event generator. These parameters control the description of multiple-parton interactions (MPI) and colour reconnection in HERWIG7, and are obtained from a fit to minimum-bias data collected by the CMS experiment at s=0.9, 7, and 13Te. The tunes are based on the NNPDF 3.1 next-to-next-to-leading-order parton distribution function (PDF) set for the parton shower, and either a leading-order or next-to-next-to-leading-order PDF set for the simulation of MPI and the beam remnants. Predictions utilizing the tunes are produced for event shape observables in electron-positron collisions, and for minimum-bias, inclusive jet, top quark pair, and Z and W boson events in proton-proton collisions, and are compared with data. Each of the new tunes describes the data at a reasonable level, and the tunes using a leading-order PDF for the simulation of MPI provide the best description of the dat
