    Este artículo tiene como objetivo identificar y analizar tres empresas tecnológicas como Google, Globant y Zemoga, a través del reconocimiento de unas variables comunes de la metodología de Gestión de Proyectos evidenciadas en cada empresa. Entre las variables a destacar están: la innovación, la metodología de gestión de proyectos, la estructura organizacional, el trabajo en equipo, la complejidad y la cultura organizacional. Este análisis de las variables muestra como el ambiente de trabajo y los incentivos a la innovación dentro de la organización, pueden generar una relación simbiótica entre los empleados y la empresa lo que aumenta las probabilidades de tener éxito en la ejecución de proyectos.This article attempts to identify and analyze success technological companies like Google, Globant and Zemoga by recognizing some common variables of the Project Management model of each one. The variables to stand out are: innovation, methodology for project management, organizational structure, teamwork, complexity and organizational culture. This analysis recognizes common strengths in project management and highlight what elements can lead to successful management in technology companies

    Non-specific Effects of Vaccines Illustrated Through the BCG Example: From Observations to Demonstrations

    Epidemiological studies regarding many successful vaccines suggest that vaccination may lead to a reduction in child mortality and morbidity worldwide, on a grander scale than is attributable to protection against the specific target diseases of these vaccines. These non-specific effects (NSEs) of the Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, for instance, implicate adaptive and innate immune mechanisms, with recent evidence suggesting that trained immunity might be a key instrument at play. Collectively referring to the memory-like characteristics of innate immune cells, trained immunity stems from epigenetic reprogramming that these innate immune cells undergo following exposure to a primary stimulus like BCG. The epigenetic changes subsequently regulate cytokine production and cell metabolism and in turn, epigenetic changes are regulated by these effects. Novel -omics technologies, combined with in vitro models for trained immunity and other immunological techniques, identify the biological pathways within innate cells that enable training by BCG. Future research should aim to identify biomarkers for vaccine heterologous effects, such that they can be applied to epidemiological studies. Linking biological mechanisms to the reduction in all-cause mortality observed in epidemiological studies will strengthen the evidence in favor of vaccine NSEs. The universal acceptance of these NSEs would demand a re-evaluation of current vaccination policies, such as the childhood vaccination recommendations by the World Health Organization, in order to produce the maximum impact on childhood mortality

    IRIM at TRECVID 2011: Semantic Indexing and Instance Search

This paper describes its participation to the TRECVID 2011 se- mantic indexing and instance search tasks. For the semantic indexing task, our approach uses a six-stages processing pipelines for computing scores for the likeli- hood of a video shot to contain a target concept. These scores are then used for producing a ranked list of im- ages or shots that are the most likely to contain the tar- get concept. The pipeline is composed of the following steps: descriptor extraction, descriptor optimization, classification, fusion of descriptor variants, higher-level fusion, and re-ranking. We evaluated a number of dif- ferent descriptors and tried different fusion strategies. The best IRIM run has a Mean Inferred Average Pre- cision of 0.1387, which ranked us 5th out of 19 partic- ipants. For the instance search task, we we used both object based query and frame based query. We formu- lated the query in standard way as comparison of visual signatures either of object with parts of DB frames or as a comparison of visual signatures of query and DB frames. To produce visual signatures we also used two apporaches: the first one is the baseline Bag-Of-Visual- Words (BOVW) model based on SURF interest point descriptor; the second approach is a Bag-Of-Regions (BOR) model that extends the traditional notion of BOVW vocabulary not only to keypoint-based descrip- tors but to region based descriptors

First individual methods of participants are used to compute similrity between an example image of in- stance and keyframes of a video clip. Then a two-step fusion method is used to combine these individual re- sults and obtain a score for the likelihood of an instance to appear in a video clip. These scores are used to ob- tain a ranked list of clips the most likely to contain the queried instance. The best IRIM run has a MAP of 0.1192, which ranked us 29th on 79 fully automatic runs

    How to Intervene in the Caries Process in Older Adults: A Joint ORCA and EFCD Expert Delphi Consensus Statement

    Aim: To provide recommendations for dental clinicians for the management of dental caries in older adults with special emphasis on root caries lesions. Methods: A consensus workshop followed by a Delphi consensus process were conducted with an expert panel nominated by ORCA, EFCD, and DGZ boards. Based on a systematic review of the literature, as well as non-systematic literature search, recommendations for clinicians were developed and consented in a two-stage Delphi process. Results: Demographic and epidemiologic changes will significantly increase the need of management of older adults and root caries in the future. Ageing is associated with a decline of intrinsic capacities and an increased risk of general diseases. As oral and systemic health are linked, bidirectional consequences of diseases and interventions need to be considered. Caries prevention and treatment in older adults must respond to the patient’s individual abilities for self-care and cooperation and often involves the support of caregivers. Systemic interventions may involve dietary counselling, oral hygiene instruction, the use of fluoridated toothpastes, and the stimulation of salivary flow. Local interventions to manage root lesions may comprise local biofilm control, application of highly fluoridated toothpastes or varnishes as well as antimicrobial agents. Restorative treatment is often compromised by the accessibility of such root caries lesions as well as the ability of the senior patient to cooperate. If optimum restorative treatment is impossible or inappropriate, longterm stabilization, e.g., by using glass-ionomer cements, and palliative treatments that aim to maintain oral function as long and as well as possible may be the treatment of choice for the individual
