Voltage dip assessment using ESKOM criterion

    Get PDF
This paper presents the assessment of the voltage dip phenomenon of a practical system in Saudi Arabia. There is a substantial body of literature available about voltage dips, but there is no clear and formal international standard on the phenomenon. There exists no international standard as to the acceptable voltage dip magnitude, and duration. The study utilized some of the widely used international experiences of South African electric utility (ESKOM) criterion. This criterion is used by many utilities world wide to measure the performance of their networks. The number of voltage dip incidents during the years 1997-2000 was analyzed. The system study result indicates that the number of three-phase and SLG faults are acceptable when compared with the ESKOM limits

Ondansetron hydrochloride (ONH) is a very bitter, potent antiemetic drug used for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of chemotherapy or radiotherapy or postoperative induced emesis. The objective of this study is to formulate and evaluate of taste masked fast dissolving tablet (FDTs) of ONH to increase patient compliance.  ONH taste masked granules were prepared by solid dispersion technique using Eudragit E100 polymer as an inert carrier. Solvent evaporation and fusion melting methods were used for such preparation. Completely taste masking with zero release of drug in phosphate buffer pH 6.8was obtained from granules prepared by solvent evaporation method using drug: polymer ratio of 1:2, from which four formulas pass pre-compression evaluation and compressed to FDTs and evaluated for their drug content, in-vitro disintegration time, in-vivo disintegration time, wetting time and in vitro drug release profile. F7 which is prepared from solid dispersion product equivalent to the required dose of ONH  , Crosspovidone as superdisintegrant, Aspartame as sweetener ,Ross berry as flavor ,Polyvinylpyrolidone K30.3.as binder ,Avicil PH102 and , mannitol as diluents give best in- vitro, in-vivo disintegration time and best drug release profile. Key words: Ondansetron hydrochloride, taste masking, solid dispersion, Eudragit E100

The EMAS and Its Role in the ESL Instruction to Immigrants in England

    Get PDF
This chapter presents the results of a quantitative research carried out through the administration of a questionnaire to the Multilingual Education Assistants who are part of the Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS) at the Coventry City Council (UK). Authors investigate the importance and impact the EMAS service has in the reception of foreign students newly arrived in England. In particular, the strategies implemented to promote students’ integration within the new socio-cultural context are analysed. A revision of the most important theories related to the teaching-learning process of an L2 is carried out. An overview of migration in the 21st century and how intercultural education can foster the coexistence of cultures, ethnic groups, and languages is provided. This chapter concludes that Multilingual Education Assistants can help to encourage dialogue between individuals, promoting the overcoming of linguistic obstacles and developing the linguistic competence of foreign children who have just arrived in England.2019-2

The extinction model studied in this analysis is motivated by the search for signatures of strong gravity at the TeV scale (terascale gravity) and assumes the existence of string couplings in the strong-coupling limit. In this limit, the string model predicts the suppression of all high-transverse-momentum standard model processes, including jet production, beyond a certain energy scale. To test this prediction, the measured transverse-momentum spectrum is compared to the theoretical prediction of the standard model. No significant deficit of events is found at high transverse momentum. A 95% confidence level lower limit of 3.3 TeV is set on the extinction mass scale

Searches for electroweak neutralino and chargino production in channels with Higgs, Z, and W bosons in pp collisions at 8 TeV

Searches for supersymmetry (SUSY) are presented based on the electroweak pair production of neutralinos and charginos, leading to decay channels with Higgs, Z, and W bosons and undetected lightest SUSY particles (LSPs). The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of about 19.5 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV collected in 2012 with the CMS detector at the LHC. The main emphasis is neutralino pair production in which each neutralino decays either to a Higgs boson (h) and an LSP or to a Z boson and an LSP, leading to hh, hZ, and ZZ states with missing transverse energy (E-T(miss)). A second aspect is chargino-neutralino pair production, leading to hW states with E-T(miss). The decays of a Higgs boson to a bottom-quark pair, to a photon pair, and to final states with leptons are considered in conjunction with hadronic and leptonic decay modes of the Z and W bosons. No evidence is found for supersymmetric particles, and 95% confidence level upper limits are evaluated for the respective pair production cross sections and for neutralino and chargino mass values

It shows significantly decrease(p<0.05)in FSH hormone of white female rats for both concentration 400,800 mg/kg and the concentration 800 mg/kg is more significant in reducing the level of FSH hormone comparing with control group, It also show significant decrease(p<0.05)in LH hormone of with female rats for both concentration 400,800 mg/kg and the concentration 800 mg/kg is more significant in reducing the level of LH hormone when compared with control group. While the prolactin hormone shows significant increase (p<0.05)  in white female rats for both concentration 400,800 mg/kg and the concentration 800 mg/kg is more significant in increasing the level of prolactin hormone. And the estradiol hormone shows significant increase (p<0.05)  in white female rats for both concentration 400,800 mg/kg and the concentration 800 mg/kg is more significant in increasing the level of estradiol hormone. In short comparing with control group. The aqueous of leek extract acts as anti-fertility in white female rats through its negative effects on the FSH, LH, prolactin and estradiol hormone
