    GAM9: Gamificación de Asignaturas del Módulo 9 "Conocimientos y técnicas aplicadas a la comunicación publicitaria”

    La gamificación consiste en la aplicación de conceptos que encontramos habitualmente en los juegos en general y en los videojuegos en concreto. Estos elementos son: reglas, retos progresivos con un camino definido para alcanzarlos, feedback continuo sobre la progresión, y compromiso por parte del jugador. Aunque el concepto es una herramienta muy utilizada en marketing, también se empieza a trasladar lo positivo de las mecánicas del juego a la docencia. Dado que gran parte del alumnado dedica su tiempo libre a los videojuegos, es de esperar que esta dinámica sea incluso más positiva que en otros campos. Gamificar una asignatura puede motivar al estudiante, guiarlo en el proceso de aprendizaje y fomentar una sana competitividad. Por esta razón, nos proponemos concretar para el curso 2014/15 propuestas de gamificación en tres asignaturas del grado en Publicidad y Relaciones Públicas, pertenecientes al módulo “Conocimientos y Técnicas aplicadas a la comunicación publicitaria” con el objetivo de motivar el aprendizaje de nuestro alumnado

    Traducción del modelo de planta de CN Cofrentes del código TRAC-BF1 a SNAP-TRACE

    Las herramientas de simulación SNAP-TRACE están siendo desarrolladas y actualizadas por la NRC y el grupo de usuarios de las mismas, con el fin de que simulen el comportamiento termohidráulico de una instalación o central nuclear. Dentro de las líneas de investigación del Grupo de Termohidráulica e Ingeniería Nuclear de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, así como IBERDROLA, se encuentra el estudio, análisis y utilización de estas nuevas herramientas. En esta ponencia se presenta el trabajo realizado conjuntamente para la obtención de un modelo de planta de la CN de Cofrentes que se pueda utilizar con estas nuevas herramientas. Se pretende desarrollar un modelo tridimensional de CN Cofrentes cuyos resultados sean consistentes comparándolos con los programas de uso actual (TRAC-BF1, RETRAN) validados con datos de planta. Esta comparación no debe hacerse globalmente ya que puede llevar a compensación de errores. Para comprobar la correcta traducción se han comparado los resultados obtenidos con TRACE y los programas actualmente en uso y se han realizado los correspondientes ajustes, teniendo en cuenta que las correlaciones y modelos de ambos códigos son diferentes.     Exploring the use of low-intensity ultrasonics as a tool for assessing the salt content in pork meat products

    Meat industry demands non-destructive techniques for the control of the salting process to achieve a homogeneous final salt content in salted meat products. The feasibility of using low-intensity ultrasound for characterizing the salting process of pork meat products was evaluated. The ultrasonic velocity (V) and time of flight (TF) were measured by through-transmission and pulse-echo methods, respectively, in salted meat products. Salting involved an increase of the V in meat muscles and a decrease of the time of flight in whole hams. Measuring the V before and after salting, the salt content could be estimated.     Spread of a SARS-CoV-2 variant through Europe in the summer of 2020.

    Following its emergence in late 2019, the spread of SARS-CoV-21,2 has been tracked by phylogenetic analysis of viral genome sequences in unprecedented detail3–5. Although the virus spread globally in early 2020 before borders closed, intercontinental travel has since been greatly reduced. However, travel within Europe resumed in the summer of 2020. Here we report on a SARS-CoV-2 variant, 20E (EU1), that was identified in Spain in early summer 2020 and subsequently spread across Europe. We find no evidence that this variant has increased transmissibility, but instead demonstrate how rising incidence in Spain, resumption of travel, and lack of effective screening and containment may explain the variant’s success. Despite travel restrictions, we estimate that 20E (EU1) was introduced hundreds of times to European countries by summertime travellers, which is likely to have undermined local efforts to minimize infection with SARS-CoV-2. Our results illustrate how a variant can rapidly become dominant even in the absence of a substantial transmission advantage in favourable epidemiological settings. Genomic surveillance is critical for understanding how travel can affect transmission of SARS-CoV-2, and thus for informing future containment strategies as travel resumes. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Limited

    Risk profiles and one-year outcomes of patients with newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation in India: Insights from the GARFIELD-AF Registry.

    BACKGROUND: The Global Anticoagulant Registry in the FIELD-Atrial Fibrillation (GARFIELD-AF) is an ongoing prospective noninterventional registry, which is providing important information on the baseline characteristics, treatment patterns, and 1-year outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). This report describes data from Indian patients recruited in this registry. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 52,014 patients with newly diagnosed AF were enrolled globally; of these, 1388 patients were recruited from 26 sites within India (2012-2016). In India, the mean age was 65.8 years at diagnosis of NVAF. Hypertension was the most prevalent risk factor for AF, present in 68.5% of patients from India and in 76.3% of patients globally (P < 0.001). Diabetes and coronary artery disease (CAD) were prevalent in 36.2% and 28.1% of patients as compared with global prevalence of 22.2% and 21.6%, respectively (P < 0.001 for both). Antiplatelet therapy was the most common antithrombotic treatment in India. With increasing stroke risk, however, patients were more likely to receive oral anticoagulant therapy [mainly vitamin K antagonist (VKA)], but average international normalized ratio (INR) was lower among Indian patients [median INR value 1.6 (interquartile range {IQR}: 1.3-2.3) versus 2.3 (IQR 1.8-2.8) (P < 0.001)]. Compared with other countries, patients from India had markedly higher rates of all-cause mortality [7.68 per 100 person-years (95% confidence interval 6.32-9.35) vs 4.34 (4.16-4.53), P < 0.0001], while rates of stroke/systemic embolism and major bleeding were lower after 1 year of follow-up. CONCLUSION: Compared to previously published registries from India, the GARFIELD-AF registry describes clinical profiles and outcomes in Indian patients with AF of a different etiology. The registry data show that compared to the rest of the world, Indian AF patients are younger in age and have more diabetes and CAD. Patients with a higher stroke risk are more likely to receive anticoagulation therapy with VKA but are underdosed compared with the global average in the GARFIELD-AF. Spain was one of the European countries with the highest incidence during the first wave. As a part of a consortium to monitor and study the evolution of the epidemic, we sequenced 2,170 samples, diagnosed mostly before lockdown measures. Here, we identified at least 500 introductions from multiple international sources and documented the early rise of two dominant Spanish epidemic clades (SECs), probably amplified by superspreading events. Both SECs were related closely to the initial Asian variants of SARS-CoV-2 and spread widely across Spain. We inferred a substantial reduction in the effective reproductive number of both SECs due to public-health interventions (Re < 1), also reflected in the replacement of SECs by a new variant over the summer of 2020.     Laboratory measurements on the Zeebrugge breakwater

    Within WP4 laboratory investigations for the Zeebrugge rubble mound breakwater have started in the wave flume of Leichtweiß-Institute for Hydraulic Engineering of the Technical University of Braunschweig (hereafter LWI) and in the wave flume of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (hereafter UPVLC). In order to check any influence that is typical for laboratory measurements and to identify possible causes for differences in results, identical tests will be carried out in the two laboratories (LWI and UPLVC). This report describes the laboratory facilities at LWI and UPVLC and the results of LWI and UPVLC parametric tests as well as the UPVLC and LWI reproduction of storms and tests with wind conditions. The results of these tests will already give an indication for (i) scale effects to be expected; (ii) differences of various types of measurement techniques; (iii) model effects; (iv) relative importance of analysis methods and (v) wind effects; and (vi) magnitude of forces on persons induced by overtopping waves (hazards).Clas
