Deporte y violencia: los fenómenos de violencia ligados a las manifestaciones deportivas y las respuestas del ordenamiento jurídico. El caso italiano

[ES] La violencia que se desarrolla en torno a los acontecimientos deportivos pertenece a las nuevas fuentes de peligro características de la actual “sociedad de riesgo”. Este fenómeno determina una atención creciente por parte del legislador, que a su vez manifiesta una tendencia cada vez más clara a recurrir al Derecho penal para buscar soluciones a este problema. Así, se analiza el tratamiento de estas cuestiones en Italia, deteniéndose en el estudio de la legislación en la materia y se realiza un balance de la experiencia italiana.[EU] Kirol ekintzen inguruan sortutako biolentziak, gaur egungo arrisku gizartearen ezaugarri dira. Ce phénomène détermine une attention croissante de la part du législateur, qui à son tour manifeste une tendance chaque fois plus claire à recourir au Droit pénal pour chercher des solutions à ce problème. Ainsi, on analyse le traitement de ces questions en Italie, en s’arrêtant dans l’étude de la législation en la matière et on mène un bilan de l’expérience italienne.[EN] The violence developed around the sport events belongs to the new sources of danger typical of the present “society of risk”. This phenomenon determines an increasing attention of the legislator, who atthe same time shows a more and more clear tendency to gets into the penal Law to solve this problem. Passive exercise of the hind limbs after complete thoracic transection of the spinal cord promotes cortical reorganization.

Physical exercise promotes neural plasticity in the brain of healthy subjects and modulates pathophysiological neural plasticity after sensorimotor loss, but the mechanisms of this action are not fully understood. After spinal cord injury, cortical reorganization can be maximized by exercising the non-affected body or the residual functions of the affected body. However, exercise per se also produces systemic changes - such as increased cardiovascular fitness, improved circulation and neuroendocrine changes - that have a great impact on brain function and plasticity. It is therefore possible that passive exercise therapies typically applied below the level of the lesion in patients with spinal cord injury could put the brain in a more plastic state and promote cortical reorganization. To directly test this hypothesis, we applied passive hindlimb bike exercise after complete thoracic transection of the spinal cord in adult rats. Using western blot analysis, we found that the level of proteins associated with plasticity - specifically ADCY1 and BDNF - increased in the somatosensory cortex of transected animals that received passive bike exercise compared to transected animals that received sham exercise. Using electrophysiological techniques, we then verified that neurons in the deafferented hindlimb cortex increased their responsiveness to tactile stimuli delivered to the forelimb in transected animals that received passive bike exercise compared to transected animals that received sham exercise. Passive exercise below the level of the lesion, therefore, promotes cortical reorganization after spinal cord injury, uncovering a brain-body interaction that does not rely on intact sensorimotor pathways connecting the exercised body parts and the brain

Magnetic field strength and reproducibility of neodymium magnets useful for transcranial static magnetic field stimulation of the human cortex

[Abstract] Objective. The application of transcranial static magnetic field stimulation (tSMS) in humans reduces the excitability of the motor cortex for a few minutes after the end of stimulation. However, when tSMS is applied in humans, the cortex is at least 2 cm away, so most of the strength of the magnetic field will not reach the target. The main objective of the study was to measure the strength and reproducibility of static magnetic fields produced by commercial neodymium magnets. Methods. We measured the strength and reproducibility of static magnetic fields produced by four different types of neodymium cylindrical magnets using a magnetic field-to-voltage transducer. Results. Magnetic field strength depended on magnet size. At distances 1.5 cm, the measurements made on the cylinder axis and 1.5 cm off the axis were comparable. The reproducibility of the results (i.e., the consistency of the field strength across magnets of the same size) was very high. Conclusions. These measurements offer a quantitative empirical reference for developing devices useful for tSMS protocols in both humans and animals.Ministerio de Educacion y Ciencia; BFU2009-0816

La tradición se fabrica. Así titula el último apartado del libro: la tradición se fabrica y todos sabemos hasta qué punto, dicha así, la frase encuentra su verdad en los potenciales de la lengua y la traslada al corazón mismo de la historia. Decir que la tradición se fabrica significa situar la discusión en términos de(l) trabajo, de taller, pues se trata del lugar donde los hombres componen, confeccionan, fraguan y construyen. La acción de fabricar nos remite al obrero, al artesano, al homo faber, el que modela y modula la materia y la vuelve otra cosa, la devuelve distinta, la inserta en otra dimensión. La tradición se fabrica es una de las perspectivas, entre tantas, quizás la que mejor se presta, para leer este libro: una frase que nos recuerda que el campo de la historia es una fábrica de relatos, un taller de construcción o un manual de composición de los relatos fundadores.Centro de Estudios de Teoría y Crítica Literari

El poeta en el hospital

Lírica terminal denomina Tamara Kamenszain a ese acto último de escribir la muerte o de escribir contra la muerte, contra el límite absoluto: el límite que pretende absolver la vida vivida para no disolverla. Escribir contra la muerte es escribir contra la disolución de la vida, no tanto para dejarla grabada sobre la piedra del testimonio o el testamento —en verdad ambos son escrituras más sobre expropiaciones (lo que se pierde) que sobre propiedades (lo que se posee)— sino para ultimarla con palabras que serán más letra que nunca en la lucha por sobrevivir a la muerte más allá del cuerpo. Si pensamos en una historia del alfabeto del poeta, se trata ya no de las primeras sino de las últimas letras y éstas también hay que aprenderlas. Aprehenderlas nada menos que en el umbral de la mudez definitiva y hacerlas hablar (decir) la lengua del moribundo, ese sujeto viviente en trance de morir. Aprendiz de la muerte podría ser una primera definición de poeta ante esta situación-límite que depende, sin embargo, de la vida, en el sentido de que, como pensaba Georg Simmel, la vida es más que vida. Las antologías suelen suscitar en el lector efectos contradictorios: adhesión o rechazo. Hay quienes buscan en ellas el poema perfecto, aquel que se desea encontrar como un tesoro. Pero también existen quienes detectan, en el conjunto, el poema que falta, cuya voz parece ser más potente desde la ausencia. Buenas o malas, a raíz de los hallazgos o a causa de sus omisiones, las antologías de poesía parecen ser, sin embargo, siempre útiles y vencer de paso algunas adversidades: reditúan un valor, un interés, una negatividad que resulta transitiva y ofrecen tras una disputa en sordina una verdad inmediata y positiva. Y todo eso más allá de aciertos y defecciones. Lo sabemos: las antologías tienen siempre que mostrar para demostrar y, como un libro mágico, dejan entrever los accidentes que configuran el mapa que toda lectura traza. Por eso hay algunas antologías, como ésta por ejemplo, en la que esa trama no sólo se hace visible sino que parece multiplicarse en otros tantos afluentes que, por imprevista y epifánica, deparan al lector una dicha enorme pues ¿hay algo más gozoso que encontrar una secreta familiaridad entre poetas dispares?, ¿que hallar el vínculo de pronto inédito entre el poeta de un siglo y de otro o el solapado parentesco que ahora sale a la luz entre poemas y poemarios que nacieron de voluntades estéticas totalmente contrarias?
