In the context of the Peruvian pedagogical renewal, the appropriation by teachers of the prescribed changes in the evaluation plan requires the dissemination of exemplary practices, since several investigations show that observing examples favors the learning of new teaching practices. Therefore, the objective of this research, carried out in 2017, has been to characterize the formative evaluation practices of primary school teachers. The qualitative approach and both ethnographic and case study designs were applied. Data was collected about the planning of the activity with an interview with 13 volunteer teachers; on the actions of teachers and students through the observation of 25 learning-teaching activities; about the significant segments of the activity recorded through an interview with the teachers. The practices of teachers have been analyzed in their behavioral and cognitive dimensions. The results show that the participants integrated into their practices many characteristics of the formative evaluation, recommended by the Ministry of Education, and that their main challenge consists in sharing the responsibility of the regulation processes with the student

Bakground. Caregiving is a strong source of stress and leads the family caregiver to experience the burden of being responsible for the care of a severely mentally ill family member. The Burden Assessment Scale (BAS) assesses burden in family caregivers. This study aimed to analyze the psychometric properties of the BAS in a sample of family caregivers of people diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Methods. Participants were 233 Spanish family caregivers (157 women and 76 men aged between 16-76 years old, M = 54.44, SD = 10.09) of people diagnosed with BPD. The BAS, the Multicultural Quality of Life Index, and the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 were used. Results. An exploratory analysis resulted in a three-factor 16-item model (Disrupted Activities; Personal and Social Dysfunction; Worry, Guilt, and Being Overwhelmed) with an excellent fit (χ²(101) = 56.873, p = 1.000, CFI = 1.000, TLI = 1.000, RMSEA = .000, SRMR = .060), good internal consistency (ω = .93), a negative correlation with quality of life, and a positive correlation with anxiety, depression, and stress. Conclusion. The model obtained for the BAS is a valid, reliable, and useful tool for assessing burden in family caregivers of relatives diagnosed with BPD

However, there are no psychometric robust tools in the Spanish context to assess self-determination. The main aim of this study is to present the developmental of The ARC-INICO Self-determination Scale designed to evaluate self-determined behavior of students with intellectual disability and an exploratory study of its psychometrical properties. The scale was applied to 99 high school students with intellectual disabilities. On average, these students were 16 years old (range: 11-19). Adequate internal consistency was shown. The factor analysis supported the multidimensional structure proposed for the scale. A set of items were found for review based on discrimination index. In conclusion, initial analyses show the acceptable preliminary psychometrical properties of this measure, indicating that it’s followed the right path in the development of a tool to know the level of students in skills such as autonomy, self-regulation, empowerment or self-knowledge that will be essential in their process of transition to adulthood.

Abstract: Self-determination is one of the most important constructs for the welfare and autonomy of people with intellectual disabilities, who have traditionally had a lack of opportunities to be causal agents of their own lives. Despite the importance of this construct, there is not enough tools available to evaluate self-determination and offer useful information to prepare specific intervention plans. The aim of this work is to develop an objective assessment scale of self-determination for young people and adults with intellectual disabilities. Conducting a Delphi study with all the agents involved (professionals, family members and people with disabilities) allowed us to create a wide pool of items that were then applied to 165 participants. Data show that this scale has empirical evidences of validity and reliability that guarantees the importance of continuing this line of research

Abstract Background Healthcare cannot achieve net-zero carbon without addressing operating theatres. The aim of this study was to prioritize feasible interventions to reduce the environmental impact of operating theatres. Methods This study adopted a four-phase Delphi consensus co-prioritization methodology. In phase 1, a systematic review of published interventions and global consultation of perioperative healthcare professionals were used to longlist interventions. In phase 2, iterative thematic analysis consolidated comparable interventions into a shortlist. In phase 3, the shortlist was co-prioritized based on patient and clinician views on acceptability, feasibility, and safety. In phase 4, ranked lists of interventions were presented by their relevance to high-income countries and low–middle-income countries. Results In phase 1, 43 interventions were identified, which had low uptake in practice according to 3042 professionals globally. In phase 2, a shortlist of 15 intervention domains was generated. In phase 3, interventions were deemed acceptable for more than 90 per cent of patients except for reducing general anaesthesia (84 per cent) and re-sterilization of ‘single-use’ consumables (86 per cent). In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for high-income countries were: introducing recycling; reducing use of anaesthetic gases; and appropriate clinical waste processing. In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for low–middle-income countries were: introducing reusable surgical devices; reducing use of consumables; and reducing the use of general anaesthesia. Conclusion This is a step toward environmentally sustainable operating environments with actionable interventions applicable to both high– and low–middle–income countries

Optimising the interconnection of free-space to fibre quantum networks

    No full text
Optimising the interconnection between free-space and fibre links will be necessary for future quantum communication networks. In daylight free-space quantum communication based on direct detection, the required Field Of View (FoV) of the receiver system needs to be minimised to reduce solar background noise coupling into the detectors. Reducing the FoV requires minimising beam wander effects caused by atmospheric turbulence through active optics. We implement a fine tracking system designed to correct tip and tilt wavefront aberrations, using two feedback loops; each of them consisting of a quadrant detector and a fast steering mirror for stabilising the beam in the whole optical axis of the receiver. We test the performance of the tracking system with different optical fibres in order to evaluate the reduction in the quantum bit error rate (QBER) caused by solar background noise. A reduction of 75% for single mode fibre was obtained, and 45% reduction for a 25 µm core diameter fibre, both cases for strong turbulence (Cn2~10-12 – 10-13 m-2/3) and 100 m propagating channel. These results look promising for enabling free-space Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) in wireless networks for realistic/adverse conditions such as daylight and strong turbulent regimes
