Condiciones de campo en el caso del Memorial a los Judíos asesinados en Europa

La siguiente tesis se estructura fundamentalmente en tres partes. La primera determina el marco teórico conceptual, efiniendo antecedentes y entregando los lineamientos que permitirán el análisis del caso. El texto que conduce el marco teórico corresponde a “From Object to field”, de Stan Allen, que consiste en el desarrollo de la idea de campos organizacionales, a través del concepto de “Condiciones de Campo”, donde se mezclan conceptos de alta teoría con el trabajo práctico del arquitecto, con el fin de establecer un diálogo constante con la complejidad de la realidad desde nuestra propia disciplina. Desde aquí se desprende la necesidad de abordar algunos conceptos y tendencias que desde el arte pueden servir como antecedentes para un mejor análisis del caso y se proponen algunas reflexiones dirigidas a comprender el desplazamiento del arte objetual al arte del concepto (Simón Marchant) y los análisis propuesto por Rosalid Krauss en relación a la expansión del campo del arte hacia la segunda mitad del siglo XX. En particular atención sobre el Minimal Art y el paso a tendencias posteriores como el Post-Minimal, Land Art y algunas experiencias surgidas en los setenta, tiene como objetivo principal describir un momento fundamental en el arte donde los cambios producidos a través de sus experiencias, afecta de forma substancial las normas de composición y los medios concebidos hasta esos años, lo que no necesariamente fue reflejado de forma paralela en arquitectura. Con el fin de comprender el real alcance que estos cambios estructurales han tenido en el campo de la Arquitectura, me propongo hacer una revisión sobre algunas tendencias desarrolladas a partir de los años setenta. Por un lado, determinar las directrices a partir de las cuales se ha definido la denominada “Arquitectura Minimal”. A priori me atrevo a decir que han sido en su mayoría incorporados a nivel estético, comprendiendo de forma absolutamente superficial los conceptos y potencialidades que estas reflexiones pudieran tener para la Arquitectura. Por otro, acercarme a la figura del Arquitecto Peter Eisenman, quien se presenta como relevante en este punto en cuanto a su atención constante al arte y el desarrollo de una arquitectura fundamentada en las relaciones lingüísticas, basada en el proceso y el uso de signos indiciales. La segunda parte se refiere al Caso Memorial a los Judíos Asesinados de Europa diseñado por este arquitecto en conjunto con Richard Serra. Además de la descripción del proyecto en términos formales y cuantitativos, se plantea aquí una cronología de los acontecimientos y contingencias que fueron parte de un largo proceso partiendo desde el primer concurso en 1988, hasta su inauguración en el 2005, pudiendo ser una muestra de la relevancia de este proyecto para la sociedad alemana. Estos sucesos provocaron una serie de modificaciones en el proyecto inicial, incluso llegando a influir en la salida de Serra del proyecto a poco de finalizar su diseño. Una tercera parte corresponde al análisis del caso, a partir del marco teórico desarrollado, relacionando el proyecto del Memorial, con el texto de Stan Allen y las condiciones de campo definidas en él. Tanto por sus características sintácticas como semánticas, contextualizadas en torno a un complejo escenario como es la historia reciente del Holocausto en Alemania, este proyecto sugiere la utilización de conceptos extraídos desde el Minimal y el Post-Minimal en Arquitectura, como pocas veces podemos encontrar. A partir de un viaje personal realizado a Berlín en el marco de esta investigación, expongo el registro personal de mi propia experiencia como parte fundamental para la comprensión del caso

Online buying behavior for entertainment products

The internet is becoming more used to do shopping, all over the years. Although there are some advantages of using the internet, like convenience, time saving, among others, but some people still prefers to do shopping in the physical context, because the store image and environment is better as well the service quality, among others. So, the online context must improve its weaknesses to attract more people. In this case, it will be studied the online buying behavior just for Entertainment products, as CD and DVD, books, newspapers, magazines, e-learning material, games and consoles, bets and lotteries. Results: Some of the results show that if the site has a good image, a good service quality and a friendly environment, consumers will be satisfied with the site where they buy entertainment products. So, if the consumers are satisfied with the site they will prefer it among others and they will recommend it to their family, friends and colleagues. However, the fact that a site is fun and fits the client style, does not necessarily mean that the consumer will be satisfied with it.Enquadramento: A internet está a tornar-se cada vez mais usada para a realização de compras, ao longo dos anos. Apesar de haver algumas vantagens do uso da internet, como a conveniência, a poupança de tempo, entre outros, algumas pessoas ainda preferem fazer comprar num contexto físico, uma vez que existe uma melhor imagem e ambiente da loja assim como um melhor serviço, entre outros. Assim, o contexto online deve melhorar os seus pontos fracos para atrair mais pessoas. Neste caso, será estudado o comportamento de compra online apenas para produtos de Entretenimento, como CD e DVD, livros, jornais, revistas, material de e-learning, jogos e consolas e lotarias e apostas. Resultados: Alguns dos resultados mostram que se um site tiver uma boa imagem, um bom serviço e um ambiente de loja amigável, os consumidores irão ficar satisfeitos com o site onde costumam comprar produtos de entretenimento. Portanto, se os consumidores se sentirem satisfeitos com um site irão preferi-lo em relação a outros e irão recomendá-lo à família, amigos e colegas. No entanto, o facto de um site ser divertido e se encaixar no estilo de consumidor, não significa necessariamente que o ele fique satisfeito com o site

Alterações morfológicas e agregação proteica no envelhecimento da glândula mamária e no cancro da mama

Breast cancer risk increases with aging. Aberrations occurring in the mammary cell differentiation process increase the risk of breast cancer. In general, cell aging is associated with increased protein damage which can result in toxic intra – and extracellular protein aggregates and influence cell survival. Consequently, the cells activate a series of adaptive stress responses to resolve this potentially lethal toxicity. However, with aging cells appear to become less efficient as protein aggregation in different biological systems has been reported to increase with age. Protein aggregation is associated to human diseases which have higher incidence in the aging population and are related to cell degeneration and death, such as Alzheimer’s. Little information exists regarding how human cells from different embryonic origin and differentiation stage resolve toxic protein aggregates and how this can influence carcinogenesis. Since the mammary gland develops after birth through differentiation of adult mammary stem and progenitor cells, we hypothesized that the different cell hierarchies found in the mammary tissue deal differently with age-related protein aggregation. This in turn would make certain mammary cell types more prone to suffer alterations during differentiation. This work has two objectives: 1) the study of differentiation markers in the mammary epithelium throughout aging; and 2) the evaluation of the protein aggregates observed by fluorescence in human breast cancer cases to assess the changes in proteostasis before and after hormone therapy. For objective 1, the experimental model consisted of tissue samples from C57BL/6 mice aged 1 to 29 months; and human samples of hormone therapy resistant breast tumors (samples before and after treatment) for objective 2. Methods included histological evaluation of the mouse mammary gland during aging, namely constitution and architecture of the gland and immunohistochemistry to evaluate expression of epithelial markers and mammary gland differentiation (such as CK5, CK8, ER and PR); and for objective 2, it was necessary to optimize the protocol with ProteoStat® for histological samples. Objective 1 was not achieved, possibly due to the fixation artifacts found in the samples, which made the immunohistochemical study impossible. In Objective 2, opposing the expectations, more protein aggregates were detected in tumor samples after hormone therapy, and further studies will be needed to discriminate intra and extracellular aggregates.O risco de cancro da mama aumenta com a idade. Alterações durante a diferenciação celular mamária aumentam o risco de cancro da mama. O envelhecimento celular está associado ao aumento do dano proteico, o que pode resultar em agregados proteicos com toxicidade intra e extracelular que influenciam a sobrevivência celular. Consequentemente, as células ativam uma série de respostas ao stress para responder a esta toxicidade potencialmente letal. Contudo, com o envelhecimento, as células aparentam ser menos eficientes, uma vez que tem sido descrita a agregação de proteínas em diversos sistemas biológicos com o envelhecimento. Esta agregação proteica está associada com várias doenças humanas que apresentam elevada incidência na população envelhecida e está relacionada com degeneração e morte, tal como a doença de Alzheimer. Existe pouca informação relativamente aos mecanismos utilizados pelas células humanas de diferentes origens embrionárias e estadios de diferenciação relativamente à eliminação destes agregados, bem como de que forma estes influenciam a carcinogénese. Desde que a glândula mamária se desenvolve e diferencia após o nascimento a partir de células estaminais progenitoras, colocámos a hipótese de diferentes tipos celulares reagirem de forma diferente aos agregados proteicos relacionados com o envelhecimento. Assim, alguns tipos de células mamárias podem ser mais suscetíveis a alterações durante a diferenciação. Este trabalho tem dois objetivos: 1) O estudo de marcadores de diferenciação no epitélio mamário ao longo do envelhecimento; e 2) Avaliação dos agregados proteicos observados através de fluorescência nos casos de cancro da mama humanos, para avaliar se existem alterações na proteostase antes e depois da terapia hormonal. Para o objetivo 1, o modelo experimental consistiu em amostras de tecido de ratinhos C57BL/6 com idades compreendidas entre 1 e 29 meses de idade; e amostras humanas de tumores mamários resistentes à terapia hormonal (amostras antes e após o tratamento) para o objetivo 2. Os métodos incluíram avaliação histológica da glândula mamária do ratinho durante o envelhecimento, nomeadamente constituição e arquitetura da glândula e imunohistoquímica para avaliar a expressão de marcadores epiteliais e de diferenciação da glândula mamária (tais como CK5, CK8, ER e PR); e para o objetivo 2, foi necessário a otimização do protocolo com o ProteoStat® para amostras histológicas. O objetivo 1 não foi cumprido, possivelmente devido artefactos de fixação encontrados nas amostras, que impossibilitaram o estudo imunohistoquímico. No objetivo 2, contrariamente ao esperado, foram detetados mais agregados proteicos nas amostras de tumores após a terapia hormonal, sendo necessários mais estudos para discriminar os agregados intra e extracelulares.Mestrado em Biomedicina Molecula

Digitally Fabricated and Naturally Augmented In Vitro Tissues

Human in vitro tissues are extracorporeal 3D cultures of human cells embedded in biomaterials, commonly hydrogels, which recapitulate the heterogeneous, multiscale, and architectural environment of the human body. Contemporary strategies used in 3D tissue and organ engineering integrate the use of automated digital manufacturing methods, such as 3D printing, bioprinting, and biofabrication. Human tissues and organs, and their intra- and interphysiological interplay, are particularly intricate. For this reason, attentiveness is rising to intersect materials science, medicine, and biology with arts and informatics. This report presents advances in computational modeling of bioink polymerization and its compatibility with bioprinting, the use of digital design and fabrication in the development of fluidic culture devices, and the employment of generative algorithms for modeling the natural and biological augmentation of in vitro tissues. As a future direction, the use of serially linked in vitro tissues as human body-mimicking systems and their application in drug pharmacokinetics and metabolism, disease modeling, and diagnostics are discussed. © 2020 The Authors. Effects of Dental Media Hype On Patients' Perception of Treatment

Living in the digital age has allowed patients to receive misguided information due to the rise of non-credible sources available to the public. Research has shown that up to 75% of people worldwide use the internet to access medical information. Websites, such as YouTube®, are common sites where patients look to access medical information, however not all medical information is factual. There is an increased number of websites disseminating information that is unsupported by scientific research to simply capture readers’ attention for their own benefit. Most of the health education that patients encounter online is outdated, inaccurate, and potentially harmful to the reader. Viewing of inaccurate information of the internet may affect patients’ perceptions of dentistry. Additionally, the influence of media on public opinion may lead patients’ to potential harmful decisions regarding their health. Communication between the practitioner and patient could help reduce dental misinformation from spreading out in the public. The intent of our research is to bring awareness and educate oral healthcare professionals on the impact of dental media hype on patient’s perceptions of dental treatment. Our primary research goal is to provide the oral healthcare professional with the tools to educate their patients on where to find scientific evidence-based research online. Secondly, oral healthcare professionals assist patients in looking beyond the headlines when making decisions about receiving dental treatment. As dental professionals, it is our responsibility to do what is in the best interest of the dental patient, which includes introducing methods of finding credible dental sources

A securitização de políticas ambientais o caso do Darfur

Face à identificação política do Darfur como o primeiro conflito violento resultante de alterações climáticas, este artigo analisa o caso do Darfur no quadro do processo de securitização ambiental, discutindo as dinâmicas que lhe estão subjacentes na situação actual. O artigo argumenta que a relação ambiente-segurança deve ser analisada na fronteira entre a esfera doméstica e internacional e que a não securitização das políticas ambientais em relação ao Darfur tem sido um obstáculo conceptual e operacional fundamental à paz. Deste modo, a internalização desta relação dialéctica na política e na acção é aqui considerada um passo essencial para responder às causas mais profundas do confl ito violento no Darfur

Liikunnan merkitys alakouluikäisen psykososiaaliseen hyvinvointiin : Opetustapahtuma 6.luokkalaisille

Lasten ja nuorten terveyttä uhkaavia tekijöitä ovat mielenterveysongelmat ja sosiaalisen kehityksen häiriintyminen. Näiden terveyttä uhkaavien tekijöiden lisääntyminen näkyy myös mielenterveyspalvelujen käytön lisääntymisenä Suomessa. Liikunnan lisäämiseen kannattaa panostaa, koska sillä on myönteisiä vaikutuksia sekä fyysiseen että psyykkiseen terveyteen. Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena oli pitää kuudennen luokan oppilaille opetustapahtuma, jonka avulla pyrimme lisäämään heidän tietoutta liikunnan positiivisista vaikutuksista ja sen merkityksestä hyvinvointiin, sekä pyrkiä motivoimaan koululaisia liikkumaan enemmän. Tavoitteenamme on edistää oppilaiden ja heidän perheidensä terveellisiä elintapoja, motivoida liikuntaan, vaikuttaa asenteisiin ja siten myös parantaa oppilaiden psyykkistä hyvää oloa, sekä kehittää sosiaalisia suhteita. Opinnäytetyössä tarkastelemme myös, miten terveydenhoitaja voi edistää oppilaiden liikunnallisuutta ja näin ehkäistä koululaisten psyykkisiä tai sosiaalisia ongelmia. Tavoitteena oli oman ammattitaidon kehittyminen ja tiedon saaminen tulevaisuuden työskentelyä varten sekä oppia edistämään ja tukemaan oppilaiden liikunnallisuutta sekä psyykkistä ja sosiaalista hyvinvointia. Yhteistyösopimus on allekirjoitettu Seinäjoella Törnävän alakoulun kanssa. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä. Järjestimme kuudesluokkalaisille 45 minuutin liikuntatapahtuman ja opetustuokion. Kuudennen luokan oppilailta ja opettajilta saadun palautteen perusteella selvisi, että oppilaat ja opettajat pitivät järjestämästämme opetustapahtumasta. Opetustapahtuma oli ollut opettavainen ja hyödyllinen. Lisäksi yli puolet vastaajista kertoi saaneensa uusia vinkkejä liikuntamahdollisuuksista. Terveydenhoitajan rooli lasten terveyshaittojen ennaltaehkäisijänä ja normaalin kehityksen tukijana on merkittävä. Tärkeää on pyrkiä tunnistamaan varhain alkaneet psyykkiset häiriöt, koska ne ovat uhka yksilön tulevalle kehitykselle ja lapsuusiän normaali kehitys taas luo pohjan aikuisiän hyvälle mielenterveydelle.Children's and young people's health threats are mental health problems and disruption of social development. The health threat increase is also reflected in the growing usage of mental health services in Finland. More exercise is worth investing in, because it has a positive effect on both physical and mental health. The purpose of our study was to organize a teaching event for 6th grade students. We aim to increase their awareness on the positive effects of physical activity and its importance for well-being, as well as to try to motivate school children to exercise more. Our goal is to help promote knowledge for pupils and their families towards a healthy lifestyle and motivation for exercise, to influence attitudes, and thus also to improve students' mental well-being, and at the same time to develop social relationships. The aim was also to examine how public health nurses can promote students' physical activity and thus prevent school psychological or social problems. Another goal was personal professional development and gathering information on the condition of future work, as well as to learn to promote and support students' physical activity and mental and social well-being. The cooperation agreement was signed with Seinäjoki Törnävä primary school. This thesis was executed as a functional thesis. We arranged a 45 minute-exercise and teaching event for the sixth graders. Based on the feedback, it became clear that the students and teachers liked the organization of the teaching event. The teaching event was instructive and useful. In addition, more than half of the respondents said that they got new ideas for sports activities. The public health nurse’s role in children's health prevention and normal development is major. It is important to try to identify the early beginning to mental disorders, because they are a threat to an individual's future development and the normal development of childhood again lays the foundation for good adult mental health

Projeto de Intervenção e Desenvolvimento Comunitário na Urbanização das Bétulas, concelho de Vila Nova de Famalicão

O princípio base que está na construção e dinamização deste projeto de desenvolvimento comunitário é a contribuição para os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da ONU (3º e 11º), relacionados com a saúde pública e o meio ambiente. Este teve como finalidade criar um plano de intervenção para limpeza e desinfeção da Urbanização das Bétulas, perspetivando melhorar a saúde pública e fortalecer o sentido de pertença da comunidade em relação à Urbanização. A estrutura do projeto inclui uma análise diagnóstica, definição de objetivos, estratégias de intervenção, avaliação de impacto e conclusões gerais. Numa dimensão geral, o projeto de desenvolvimento comunitário passa, maioritariamente, por desenvolver recursos e potencialidades junto dos residentes da Urbanização das Bétulas, perspetivando proporcionar a todos um espaço aprazível para o desenvolvimento físico e cognitivo em todas as gerações.The underlying principle that guides the construction and promotion of this community development project is the contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (3rd and 11th), related to public health and the environment. The objective was to draw up an intervention plan for cleaning and disinfecting Urbanização das Bétulas, with a view to improving public health and strengthening the community's sense of belonging to urbanization. The project structure includes a diagnostic analysis, definition of objectives, intervention strategies, impact assessment and general conclusions.
