A systematic review and network meta-analyses to assess the effectiveness of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) self-testing distribution strategies
BACKGROUND: We conducted a systematic review and network meta-analysis to identify which human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) self-testing (HIVST) distribution strategies are most effective.
METHODS: We abstracted data from randomized controlled trials and observational studies published between 4 June 2006 and 4 June 2019.
RESULTS: We included 33 studies, yielding 6 HIVST distribution strategies. All distribution strategies increased testing uptake compared to standard testing: in sub-Saharan Africa, partner HIVST distribution ranked highest (78% probability); in North America, Asia, and the Pacific regions, web-based distribution ranked highest (93% probability), and facility based distribution ranked second in all settings. Across HIVST distribution strategies HIV positivity and linkage was similar to standard testing.
CONCLUSIONS: A range of HIVST distribution strategies are effective in increasing HIV testing. HIVST distribution by sexual partners, web-based distribution, as well as health facility distribution strategies should be considered for implementation to expand the reach of HIV testing services
Recurrence quantification analysis as a tool for the characterization of molecular dynamics simulations
A molecular dynamics simulation of a Lennard-Jones fluid, and a trajectory of
the B1 immunoglobulin G-binding domain of streptococcal protein G (B1-IgG)
simulated in water are analyzed by recurrence quantification, which is
noteworthy for its independence from stationarity constraints, as well as its
ability to detect transients, and both linear and nonlinear state changes. The
results demonstrate the sensitivity of the technique for the discrimination of
phase sensitive dynamics. Physical interpretation of the recurrence measures is
also discussed.Comment: 7 pages, 8 figures, revtex; revised for review for Phys. Rev. E

The PTF Orion Project: a Possible Planet Transiting a T-Tauri Star
We report observations of a possible young transiting planet orbiting a
previously known weak-lined T-Tauri star in the 7-10 Myr old Orion-OB1a/25-Ori
region. The candidate was found as part of the Palomar Transient Factory (PTF)
Orion project. It has a photometric transit period of 0.448413 +- 0.000040
days, and appears in both 2009 and 2010 PTF data. Follow-up low-precision
radial velocity (RV) observations and adaptive optics imaging suggest that the
star is not an eclipsing binary, and that it is unlikely that a background
source is blended with the target and mimicking the observed transit. RV
observations with the Hobby-Eberly and Keck telescopes yield an RV that has the
same period as the photometric event, but is offset in phase from the transit
center by approximately -0.22 periods. The amplitude (half range) of the RV
variations is 2.4 km/s and is comparable with the expected RV amplitude that
stellar spots could induce. The RV curve is likely dominated by stellar spot
modulation and provides an upper limit to the projected companion mass of M_p
sin i_orb < 4.8 +- 1.2 M_Jup; when combined with the orbital inclination, i
orb, of the candidate planet from modeling of the transit light curve, we find
an upper limit on the mass of the planetary candidate of M_p < 5.5 +- 1.4
M_Jup. This limit implies that the planet is orbiting close to, if not inside,
its Roche limiting orbital radius, so that it may be undergoing active mass
loss and evaporation.Comment: Corrected typos, minor clarifications; minor updates/corrections to

Simultaneous measurement of the ratio B(t->Wb)/B(t->Wq) and the top quark pair production cross section with the D0 detector at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV
We present the first simultaneous measurement of the ratio of branching
fractions, R=B(t->Wb)/B(t->Wq), with q being a d, s, or b quark, and the top
quark pair production cross section sigma_ttbar in the lepton plus jets channel
using 0.9 fb-1 of ppbar collision data at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV collected with the
D0 detector. We extract R and sigma_ttbar by analyzing samples of events with
0, 1 and >= 2 identified b jets. We measure R = 0.97 +0.09-0.08 (stat+syst) and
sigma_ttbar = 8.18 +0.90-0.84 (stat+syst)} +/-0.50 (lumi) pb, in agreement with
the standard model prediction.Comment: submitted to Phys.Rev.Letter
Measurement of the B0_s semileptonic branching ratio to an orbitally excited D_s** state, Br(B0_s -> Ds1(2536) mu nu)
In a data sample of approximately 1.3 fb-1 collected with the D0 detector
between 2002 and 2006, the orbitally excited charm state D_s1(2536) has been
observed with a measured mass of 2535.7 +/- 0.6 (stat) +/- 0.5 (syst) MeV via
the decay mode B0_s -> D_s1(2536) mu nu X. A first measurement is made of the
branching ratio product Br(b(bar) -> D_s1(2536) mu nu X).Br(D_s1(2536)->D*
K0_S). Assuming that D_s1(2536) production in semileptonic decay is entirely
from B0_s, an extraction of the semileptonic branching ratio Br(B0_s ->
D_s1(2536) mu nu X) is made.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, LaTeX, version with minor changes as accepted by

Search for W' boson production in the W'->tb decay channel
We present a search for the production of a new heavy gauge boson W' that
decays to a top quark and a bottom quark. We have analyzed 230 pb^{-1} of data
collected with the Dzero detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at a
center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. No significant excess of events above the
standard model expectation is found in any region of the final state invariant
mass distribution. We set upper limits on the production cross section of W'
bosons times branching ratio to top quarks at the 95% confidence level for
several different W' boson masses. We exclude masses between 200 GeV and 610
GeV for a W' boson with standard-model-like couplings, between 200 GeV and 630
GeV for a W' boson with right-handed couplings that is allowed to decay to both
leptons and quarks, and between 200 GeV and 670 GeV for a W' boson with
right-handed couplings that is only allowed to decay to quarks.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, accepted by Phys. Lett.
Search for R-parity violating supersymmetry via the LLE couplings lambda_{121}, lambda_{122} or lambda_{133} in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV
A search for gaugino pair production with a trilepton signature in the
framework of R-parity violating supersymmetry via the couplings lambda_121,
lambda_122, or lambda_133 is presented. The data, corresponding to an
integrated luminosity of L~360/pb, were collected from April 2002 to August
2004 with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, at a
center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. This analysis considers final states
with three charged leptons with the flavor combinations eel, mumul, and eetau
(l=e or mu). No evidence for supersymmetry is found and limits at the 95%
confidence level are set on the gaugino pair production cross section and lower
bounds on the masses of the lightest neutralino and chargino are derived in two
supersymmetric models.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures (fig2 includes 3 subfigures
Measurement of the Lifetime Using Semileptonic Decays
We report a measurement of the lifetime in the semileptonic decay
channel (and its charge conjugate), using
approximately 0.4 fb of data collected with the D0 detector during 2002
-- 2004. We have reconstructed 5176 signal events, where the
is identified via the decay , followed by . Using these events, we have measured the lifetime to be
. This is the most precise measurement of the lifetime to date.Comment: To appear in Phys. Rev. Lett., 7 pages, 2 figure
Multivariate searches for single top quark production with the D0 detector
We present a search for electroweak production of single top quarks in the
s-channel (p-pbar -> t bbar + X) and t-channel (p-pbar -> tq bbar + X) modes.
We have analyzed 230 pb^(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the
Fermilab Tevatron collider at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV.
Two separate analysis methods are used: neural networks and a cut-based
analysis. No evidence for a single top quark signal is found. We set 95%
confidence level upper limits on the production cross sections using Bayesian
statistics, based on event counts and binned likelihoods formed from the neural
network output. The limits from the neural network (cut-based) analysis are 6.4
pb (10.6 pb) in the s-channel and 5.0 pb (11.3 pb) in the t-channel.Comment: submitted to Phys. Rev. D, Fermilab preprint Fermilab-Pub-06/069-
