    Molecular characterization of local isolates of infectious bursal disease virus from broiler chickens in Iraq

    The present study was conducted to characterize a new field isolates of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and partial sequencing of VP2 gene. The virus could be detected in five of seven field samples from broiler chickens in Iraq. Nucleotide sequences of field isolates were compared with 33 reported IBDV strains from different parts of the world. Nucleotide substitutions at I242, Q249, Q252, I256, D279, A284, I294, S326 and S330 specific for very virulent (vv) strains, were maintained in all the field isolates. Deduced amino acid substitutions A222, I242, Q249, Q252, I256, D279, A284, I294, S326 and S330 specific for vvIBDV strains were also present in all the isolates. Phylogenetic analysis showed that all the field isolates in the present study were closely related to reported UK (XZh) and Japan (OKYM) field isolates. Further comprehensive investigations will provide more information on the distribution, variability, phylogenetic relationships of different vvIBDV isolate in Iraq and other parts of the worlds

    The main objective of this research was to determine the day of the week effect in Karachi stock exchange (KSE) 100 Index. The problems of financial market structure is analyzed and forecasted by many statistical models. For example Auto regressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and artificial neural network (ANN) models. In this research day of the week effect was investigated Wednesday found significant and Monday was noted not significant. 15 step ahead prediction of Wednesday was observed through ARIMA model and ANN models. The coefficient of correlation for actual and forecasted values was perceived 0.8871 by ARIMA model and 0.924 by ANN model. Power of accuracy was displayed 88.765% by ARIMA model and 97.18% by ANN model

    Anti-Spoof Reliable Biometry of Fingerprints Using En-Face Optical Coherence Tomography

    Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a relatively new imaging technology which can produce high-reso- lution images of three-dimensional structures. OCT has been mainly used for medical applications such as for ophthalmology and dermatology. In this study we demonstrate its capability in providing much more re- liable biometry identification of fingerprints than conventional methods. We prove that OCT can serve se- cure control of genuine fingerprints as it can detect if extra layers are placed above the finger. This can pre- vent with a high probability, intruders to a secure area trying to foul standard systems based on imaging the finger surface. En-Face OCT method is employed and recommended for its capability of providing not only the axial succession of layers in depth, but the en-face image that allows the traditional pattern identification. Another reason for using such OCT technology is that it is compatible with dynamic focus and therefore can provide enhanced transversal resolution and sensitivity. Two En-Face OCT systems are used to evaluate the need for high resolution and conclusions are drawn in terms of the most potential commercial route to ex- ploitation

    Nematicidal and allelopathic responses of Lantana camara root extract

    The impact of root leachates of Lantana camara L., a tropical weed, against Meloidogyne javanica, the root-knot nematode, was tested under laboratory and pot conditions. Concentrated and diluted root leachate caused substantial mortality of M. javanica juveniles. Significant suppression of the nematode was achieved when soil was treated with a full-strength concentration of the leachate. Whilst this high concentration retarded plant height and shoot fresh weight, more diluted concentrations actually enhanced plant growth. To establish whether this inhibition of plant growth from the leachate was the result of depleted nitrogen levels in the soil due to the leachate, soil treated with such leachates was given urea as an additional nitrogen source. Urea not only enhanced nematode suppression activity of the root leachates but also increased seedling emergence and growth of mungbean. Application of the L. camara root leachates in combination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium, significantly reduced nematode population densities in roots and subsequent root-knot infection, and enhanced plant growth. While a high concentration of root leachate slightly reduced P. aeruginosa colonization in the rhizosphere and inner root tissues, the nematicidal efficacy of the bacterium was unaffected. The root leachate of L. camara was found to contain phenolic compounds, including p-hydroxybenzoic acid, vanillic acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid and a quercetin glycoside, 7-glucoside.     In this paper, we calculated the next-to-leading order (NLO) new physics contributions to the mass splitting \dmd and the branching ratio \brbxsga induced by the charged Higgs loop diagrams in the third type of two-Higgs-doublet models (model III) and draw the constraints on the free parameters of model III. For the model III under consideration, we found that (a) an upper limit |\ltt|\leq 1.7 is obtained from the precision data of \dmd=0.502 \pm 0.007 ps^{-1}, while |\ltt| \approx 0.5 is favored phenomenologicaly; (b) for B→XsγB \to X_s \gamma decay, the NLO QCD contributions tend to cancel the LO new physics contributions; (c) a light charged Higgs boson with a mass around or even less than 200 GeV is still allowed at NLO level by the measured branching ratio \brbxsga: numerically, 188 \leq \mh \leq 215 GeV for (|\ltt|,|\lbb|)=(0.5,18); (d) the NLO QCD contributions tend to cancel the LO contributions effectively, the lower limit on \mh is consequently decreased by about 200 GeV; (e) the allowed region of \mh will be shifted toward heavy mass end for a non-zero relative phase ξ\theta between the Yukawa couplings \ltt and \lbb.     Measurement of the View the tt production cross-section using eÎŒ events with b-tagged jets in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

    This paper describes a measurement of the inclusive top quark pair production cross-section (σttÂŻ) with a data sample of 3.2 fb−1 of proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 13 TeV, collected in 2015 by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. This measurement uses events with an opposite-charge electron–muon pair in the final state. Jets containing b-quarks are tagged using an algorithm based on track impact parameters and reconstructed secondary vertices. The numbers of events with exactly one and exactly two b-tagged jets are counted and used to determine simultaneously σttÂŻ and the efficiency to reconstruct and b-tag a jet from a top quark decay, thereby minimising the associated systematic uncertainties. The cross-section is measured to be: σttÂŻ = 818 ± 8 (stat) ± 27 (syst) ± 19 (lumi) ± 12 (beam) pb, where the four uncertainties arise from data statistics, experimental and theoretical systematic effects, the integrated luminosity and the LHC beam energy, giving a total relative uncertainty of 4.4%. The result is consistent with theoretical QCD calculations at next-to-next-to-leading order. A fiducial measurement corresponding to the experimental acceptance of the leptons is also presented
