Displacements Monitoring over Czechia by IT4S1 System for Automatised Interferometric Measurements Using Sentinel-1 Data

The Sentinel-1 satellite system continuously observes European countries at a relatively high revisit frequency of six days per orbital track. Given the Sentinel-1 configuration, most areas in Czechia are observed every 1–2 days by different tracks in a moderate resolution. This is attractive for various types of analyses by various research groups. The starting point for interferometric (InSAR) processing is an original data provided in a Single Look Complex (SLC) level. This work represents advantages of storing data augmented to a specifically corrected level of data, SLC-C. The presented database contains Czech nationwide Sentinel-1 data stored in burst units that have been pre-processed to the state of a consistent well-coregistered dataset of SLC-C. These are resampled SLC data with their phase values reduced by a topographic phase signature, ready for fast interferometric analyses (an interferogram is generated by a complex conjugate between two stored SLC-C files). The data can be used directly into multitemporal interferometry techniques, e.g., Persistent Scatterers (PS) or Small Baseline (SB) techniques applied here. A further development of the nationwide system utilising SLC-C data would lead into a dynamic state where every new pre-processed burst triggers a processing update to detect unexpected changes from InSAR time series and therefore provides a signal for early warning against a potential dangerous displacement, e.g., a landslide, instability of an engineering structure or a formation of a sinkhole. An update of the processing chain would also allow use of cross-polarised Sentinel-1 data, needed for polarimetric analyses. The current system is running at a national supercomputing centre IT4Innovations in interconnection to the Czech Copernicus Collaborative Ground Segment (CESNET), providing fast on-demand InSAR results over Czech territories. A full nationwide PS processing using data over Czechia was performed in 2017, discovering several areas of land deformation. Its downsampled version and basic findings are demonstrated within the article

The topic of the thesis is the household debt in the Czech Republic - current data and trends. The main objective of this thesis is the analysis of debt, especially in the years 2011 - 2016. The thesis deals with other influences that affect the debt. Another part is the comparison of household debt with other EU member states. The issue of debt is first defined theoretically in several aspects, namely economic, legal and social. Another part of the text is devoted to the analysis of debt itself between 2011 and 2016, the financial situation of households, their savings or the development of average gross wages. Data were used from the statistical systems of the CZSO, the CNB and EUROSTAT. The final part of the thesis focuses on one of the main reasons for debt, which is consumerism

The work focuses on the transport of goods between Greece and the Czech Republic and the development that is affected by the pandemic situation associated with the disease Covid-19. The aim is to transfer the transport data to the maps and subsequently create the optimization of stocks in connection with the development of freight prices at the selected company. This thesis was created on the basis of the analysis of primary and secondary sources. The internal sources of the analyzed company and the internal sources of suppliers are used as primary sources. The international transport and logistics itself is addressed in the theoretical part of the work and includes individual concepts in the field of transport and logistics, ordering systems, information technology and the definition of transport channels. The practical part works with data from 2020 and the first quarter of 2021 of Soma n Botanicals and Soma n Botanicals CZ / SK. In addition to the optimization of stocks, the final part of the work also evaluates the development of freight prices and the impact of the pandemic on transportation

A scheme is presented of a project for the use of solar energy (obtained via photovoltaic cells) for propulsion of road vehicles, especially for public transport. The motivation is based on the holistic view on driving systems and fuels for road vehicles, and on their environmental influence. This new view will also change a methodology for economic evaluation of transport means, with respect to the costs related to building of parking places and curing of the diseases caused by immisions from traditional driving systems. Biofuels are not the suitable solution, as they can cause the change of climate and food problems

Deployment of Elastic Virtual Hybrid Clusters Across Cloud Sites

Virtual clusters are widely used computing platforms than can be deployed in multiple cloud platforms. The ability to dynamically grow and shrink the number of nodes has paved the way for customised elastic computing both for High Performance Computing and High Throughput Computing workloads. However, elasticity is typically restricted to a single cloud site, thus hindering the ability to provision computational resources from multiple geographically distributed cloud sites. To this aim, this paper introduces an architecture of open-source components that coherently deploy a virtual elastic cluster across multiple cloud sites to perform large-scale computing. These hybrid virtual elastic clusters are automatically deployed and configured using an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach on a distributed hybrid testbed that spans different organizations, including on-premises and public clouds, supporting automated tunneling of communications across the cluster nodes with advanced VPN topologies. The results indicate that cluster-based computing of embarrassingly parallel jobs can benefit from hybrid virtual clusters that aggregate computing resources from multiple cloud back-ends and bring them together into a dedicated, albeit virtual network. The work presented in this article has been partially funded by the European Union's (EU) Horizon 2020 research project DEEP Hybrid-DataCloud (grant agreement No 777435).Comment: 33 pages, 11 figure

An open compute and data federation as an alternative to monolithic infrastructures for big Earth data analytics

    No full text
ABSTRACTAn adequate compute and storage infrastructure supporting the full exploitation of Copernicus and Earth Observation datasets is currently not available in Europe. This paper presents the cross-disciplinary open-source technologies being leveraged in the C-SCALE project to develop an open federation of compute and data providers as an alternative to monolithic infrastructures for processing and analysing Copernicus and Earth Observation data. Three critical aspects of the federation and the chosen technologies are elaborated upon: (1) federated data discovery, (2) federated access and (3) software distribution. With these technologies the open federation aims to provide homogenous access to resources, thereby enabling its users to generate meaningful results quickly and easily. This will be achieved by abstracting the complexity of infrastructure resource access provisioning and orchestration, including discovery of data across distributed archives, away from the end-users. Which is needed because end-users wish to focus on analysing ready-to-use data products and models rather than spending their time on the setup and maintenance of complex and heterogeneous IT infrastructures. The open federation will support processing and analysing the vast amounts of Copernicus and Earth Observation data that are critical for the implementation of the Destination Earth resp. Digital Twins vision for a high precision digital model of the Earth to model, monitor and simulate natural phenomena and related human activities
