Kota manado sempat mempunyai pusat perbelanjaan yang sempat popularrdi tahun 1990- an, yaitu President Shopping Center. Melihat kondisi bangunan saat ini, fasilitas utama atau pendukung, dan peruntukannya, President Shopping Center tidak lagi memenuhi syarat sebagai pusat perbelanjaan di kota Manado dannsekitarnya. Tujuan dari me- redesain President Shopping Center di Kota Manado merupakan mendesain ulang President Shopping Center menjadi lebih menarik dan aman dari yang ada saat ini dengannmemperhatikan kawasan sekitar. Looking at the current condition of the building, main or supporting facilities, and its designation, President Shopping Center no longer qualifies as a shopping center in the city of Manado and its surroundings The purpose of redesigning the President Shopping Center in Manado City is to redesign the President Shopping Center to be more attractive and safer than the current one by paying attention to the surrounding area.     Strong Nebular Line Ratios in the Spectra of z~2-3 Star-forming Galaxies: First Results from KBSS-MOSFIRE

    We present initial results of a deep near-IR spectroscopic survey covering the 15 fields of the Keck Baryonic Structure Survey (KBSS) using MOSFIRE on the Keck 1 telescope, focusing on a sample of 251 galaxies with redshifts 2.0< z < 2.6, star-formation rates 2 < SFR < 200 M_sun/yr, and stellar masses 8.6 < log(M*/M_sun) < 11.4, with high-quality spectra in both H- and K-band atmospheric windows. We show unambiguously that the locus of z~2.3 galaxies in the "BPT" nebular diagnostic diagram exhibits a disjoint, yet similarly tight, relationship between the ratios [NII]6585/Halpha and [OIII]/Hbeta as compared to local galaxies. Using photoionization models, we argue that the offset of the z~2.3 locus relative to z~ 0 is explained by a combination of harder ionizing radiation field, higher ionization parameter, and higher N/O at a given O/H than applies to most local galaxies, and that the position of a galaxy along the z~2.3 star-forming BPT locus is surprisingly insensitive to gas-phase oxygen abundance. The observed nebular emission line ratios are most easily reproduced by models in which the net ionizing radiation field resembles a blackbody with effective temperature T_eff = 50000-60000 K and N/O close to the solar value at all O/H. We critically assess the applicability of commonly-used strong line indices for estimating gas-phase metallicities, and consider the implications of the small intrinsic scatter in the empirical relationship between excitation-sensitive line indices and stellar mass (i.e., the "mass-metallicity" relation), at z~2.3.Comment: 41 pages, 25 figures, accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journal.     Discovery of a compact gas-rich DLA galaxy at z = 2.2: evidences for a starburst-driven outflow

    We present the detection of Ly-alpha, [OIII] and H-alpha emission associated with an extremely strong DLA system (N(HI) = 10^22.10 cm^-2) at z=2.207 towards the quasar SDSS J113520-001053. This is the largest HI column density ever measured along a QSO line of sight, though typical of what is seen in GRB-DLAs. This absorption system also classifies as ultrastrong MgII system with W2796_r=3.6 A. The mean metallicity of the gas ([Zn/H]=-1.1) and dust depletion factors ([Zn/Fe]=0.72, [Zn/Cr]=0.49) are consistent with (and only marginally larger than) the mean values found in the general QSO-DLA population. The [OIII]-Ha emitting region has a very small impact parameter with respect to the QSO line of sight, b=0.1", and is unresolved. From the Ha line, we measure SFR=25 Msun/yr. The Ly-a line is double-peaked and is spatially extended. More strikingly, the blue and red Ly-a peaks arise from distinct regions extended over a few kpc on either side of the star-forming region. We propose that this is the consequence of Ly-a transfer in outflowing gas. The presence of starburst-driven outflows is also in agreement with the large SFR together with a small size and low mass of the galaxy (Mvir~10^10 Msun). From the stellar UV continuum luminosity of the galaxy, we estimate an age of at most a few 10^7 yr, again consistent with a recent starburst scenario. We interpret the data as the observation of a young, gas rich, compact starburst galaxy, from which material is expelled through collimated winds powered by the vigorous star formation activity. We substantiate this picture by modelling the radiative transfer of Ly-a photons in the galactic counterpart. Though our model (a spherical galaxy with bipolar outflowing jets) is a simplistic representation of the true gas distribution and velocity field, the agreement between the observed and simulated properties is particularly good.     The transcriptional response of Caenorhabditis elegans to ivermectin exposure identifies novel genes involved in the response to reduced food intake

    We have examined the transcriptional response of Caenorhabditis elegans following exposure to the anthelmintic drug ivermectin (IVM) using whole genome microarrays and real-time QPCR. Our original aim was to identify candidate molecules involved in IVM metabolism and/or excretion. For this reason the IVM tolerant strain, DA1316, was used to minimise transcriptomic changes related to the phenotype of drug exposure. However, unlike equivalent work with benzimidazole drugs, very few of the induced genes were members of xenobiotic metabolising enzyme families. Instead, the transcriptional response was dominated by genes associated with fat mobilization and fatty acid metabolism including catalase, esterase, and fatty acid CoA synthetase genes. This is consistent with the reduction in pharyngeal pumping, and consequential reduction in food intake, upon exposure of DA1316 worms to IVM. Genes with the highest fold change in response to IVM exposure, cyp-37B1, mtl-1 and scl-2, were comparably up-regulated in response to short–term food withdrawal (4 hr) independent of IVM exposure, and GFP reporter constructs confirm their expression in tissues associated with fat storage (intestine and hypodermis). These experiments have serendipitously identified novel genes involved in an early response of C. elegans to reduced food intake and may provide insight into similar processes in higher organisms

    LBT/ARGOS adaptive optics observations of z2\sim 2 lensed galaxies

    Gravitationally lensed systems allow a detailed view of galaxies at high redshift. High spatial- and spectral-resolution measurements of arc-like structures can offer unique constraints on the physical and dynamical properties of high-z systems. We present near-infrared spectra centred on the gravitational arcs of six known z ~ 2 lensed star-forming galaxies of stellar masses of 10^9-10^11 Msun and star formation rate (SFR) in the range between 10 and 400 Msun/yr. Ground layer adaptive optics (AO)-assisted observations are obtained at the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) with the LUCI spectrographs during the commissioning of the ARGOS facility. We used MOS masks with curved slits to follow the extended arched structures and study the diagnostic emission lines. Combining spatially resolved kinematic properties across the arc-like morphologies, emission line diagnostics and archival information, we distinguish between merging and rotationally supported systems, and reveal the possible presence of ejected gas. For galaxies that have evidence for outflows, we derive outflow energetics and mass-loading factors compatible with those observed for stellar winds in local and high-z galaxies. We also use flux ratio diagnostics to derive gas-phase metallicities. The low signal-to-noise ratio in the faint Hβ\beta and nitrogen lines allows us to derive an upper limit of ~ 0.15 dex for the spatial variations in metallicity along the slit for the lensed galaxy J1038. Analysed near-infrared spectra presented here represent the first scientific demonstration of performing AO-assisted multi-object spectroscopy with narrow curved-shape slits. The increased angular and spectral resolution, combined with the binocular operation mode with the 8.4-m-wide eyes of LBT, will allow the characterisation of kinematic and chemical properties of a large sample of galaxies at high-z in the near future.Comment: 18 pages, 13 figures, accepted for publication in A&

    The Mass-Metallicity Relation of a z ~ 2 Protocluster with MOSFIRE

    We present Keck/MOSFIRE observations of the role of environment in the formation of galaxies at z ~ 2. Using K-band spectroscopy of Hα and [N ii] emission lines, we have analyzed the metallicities of galaxies within and around a z = 2.3 protocluster discovered in the HS1700+643 field. Our main sample consists of 23 protocluster and 20 field galaxies with estimates of stellar masses and gas-phase metallicities based on the N2 strong-line metallicity indicator. With these data we have examined the mass–metallicity relation with respect to environment at z ~ 2. We find that field galaxies follow the well-established trend between stellar mass and metallicity, such that more massive galaxies have larger metallicities. The protocluster galaxies, however, do not exhibit a dependence of metallicity on mass, with the low-mass protocluster galaxies showing an enhancement in metallicity compared to field galaxies spanning the same mass range. A comparison with galaxy formation models suggests that the mass-dependent environmental trend we observed can be qualitatively explained in the context of the recycling of "momentum-driven" galaxy wind material. Accordingly, winds are recycled on a shorter timescale in denser environments, leading to an enhancement in metallicity at fixed mass for all but the most massive galaxies. Future hydrodynamical simulations of z ~ 2 overdensities matching the one in the HS1700 field will be crucial for understanding the origin of the observed environmental trend in detail

    Submilliarcsecond Optical Interferometry of the High-mass X-Ray Binary BP Cru with VLTI/GRAVITY

Available from American Astronomical Society via the DOI in this recordWe observe the high-mass X-ray binary (HMXB) BP Cru using interferometry in the near-infrared K band with VLTI/GRAVITY. Continuum visibilities are at most partially resolved, consistent with the predicted size of the hypergiant. Differential visibility amplitude () and phase () signatures are observed across the He i and Brγ lines, the latter seen strongly in emission, unusual for the donor star's spectral type. For a baseline m, the differential phase rms corresponds to an astrometric precision of . We generalize expressions for image centroid displacements and variances in the marginally resolved limit of interferometry to spectrally resolved data, and use them to derive model-independent properties of the emission such as its asymmetry, extension, and strong wavelength dependence. We propose geometric models based on an extended and distorted wind and/or a high-density gas stream, which has long been predicted to be present in this system. The observations show that optical interferometry is now able to resolve HMXBs at the spatial scale where accretion takes place, and therefore to probe the effects of the gravitational and radiation fields of the compact object on its environment
