La iglesia de Santiago en Salamanca, arquetipo del mudéjar local. Una restauración estilística del arquitecto Anselmo Arenillas

Entre los años 1951 y 1965 el arquitecto Anselmo Arenillas Álvarez restaura la iglesia medieval de Santiago del Arrabal de Salamanca, junto al puente romano y el río Tormes, que se encontraba con algunos problemas de ruina. Ello permite realizar una reconstrucción en estilo del edificio prácticamente completa convirtiéndolo en un ejemplo ideal del románico-mudéjar salamantino.Between years 1951 and 1965 the architect Anselmo Arenillas Álvarez restores the medieval church of Santiago of the "Arrabal" in Salamanca, close to the Roman bridge and the river Tormes, which one was finding with some problems of ruin. It allows to realize a reconstruction in style of the building practically complete turning it into an ideal example of the Romanesque-Mudejar of Salamanca

Causalidad Psicobiológica y Pluralismo

I present different approaches to psychological causality usually neglected. The debate between mechanism and dualism in psychology has obscured other pluralistic philosophical ’s position, the "analogic" one, which includes, in a pluralistic view, diverse causations (mechanical, stimulate, and motive reasons) but with a monism of the will at the noumenal level. Then, I review other approaches in psychology and biological sciences: dialectical, constructivist and biosemiotics. All agree to see reality as plural and self-constituted.En este trabajo presento distintos enfoques sobre la causalidad psicológica normalmente desatendidos. El debate entre mecanicismo y dualismo en la psicología ha oscurecido otras posiciones filosóficas pluralistas. Comienzo por exponer la postura “analógica” de Schopenhauer, que incluye -de forma pluralista- una diversidad de causaciones (mecánica, estimular y causalidad por motivos) pero con un monismo de la voluntad en el plano nouménico. Después reviso otros enfoques dialécticos en la psicología y en las ciencias biológicas: dialécticas, constructivistas y biosemióticas. Naked Academy: Sobre el desnudo masculino en la red

El proyecto pretende reflexionar acerca del desnudo masculino desarrollado en Internet. La tecnología digital ha facilitado que se haya desarrollado una fotografía donde el propio individuo es capaz de producir una imagen pornográfica que puede compartirla a través de Internet. El resultado ha sido una nueva práctica fotográfica amateur pornográfica dispuesto a la participación de cualquier internauta, en especial, para el masculino, el cual supone el objetivo de este proyecto. El objetivo es cuestionar estas imágenes en cuanto a que no solo sirven a una necesidad pornográfica, si no que suponen un modelo de identidad y representación masculina que se desarrolla a través de un fenómeno cotidiano. Además, confrontar el desnudo masculino erotizado en estas imágenes con los ideales estéticos de la imagen masculina tradicional en el género del desnudo artístico. El resultado de este proyecto concluye en la reproducción en dibujo de una selección de imágenes, obtenidas de esta práctica autoerótica, a modo de estudio de desnudo. Las obras que componen el proyecto son serie de ocho dibujos en pequeño tamaño y cuatro piezas individuales en mayor escala

Unemployment risks and intra-household insurance

The planner's transfers to the unemployed fall with the spouse's income because of concave preferences with limited complementarity between consumption and the spouse's labor. Due to the absence of such a transfers scheme in the laissez-faire equilibrium, too many too-low-wage jobs are created as jobless workers seek insurance in the labor market. Social welfare-maximizing policies with simple tax schemes exhibit unemployment benefits falling with spouse's income, and nearly fill up the welfare gap

The evolution of communication media in Moche culture

Starting from the improbability of the evolution of truth as a symbolic generalization, out of which a communication medium developed that built the conditions of possibility of a functional system for science, I intend to underline the contingency of such an evolutionary pathway by studying the Moche culture. The Moche represent a fit case study because of their elaborated and narrative-loaded pottery, which played the role of diffusion medium along the Peruvian North Coast. The study of Andean iconographic media and its potential for information production might bring to the foreground the Graphocentrism underlying in Luhmann`s theory of sociocultural evolution, thereby correcting his theoretical model. In addition, a complex ancient culture would serve to illustrate the preconditions that sociocultural evolution had to fulfill in order to set forth a science functional system. My hypothesis is that sociocultural evolution is guided by the dynamic interactions between success and diffusion media, which by conditioning each other sometimes favor differentiation and gain complexity, and some others impede those possibilities leading to evolutionary blind alleys

A Multi-Temporal Object-Based Image Analysis to Detect Long-Lived Shrub Cover Changes in Drylands

Climate change and human actions condition the spatial distribution and structure of vegetation, especially in drylands. In this context, object-based image analysis (OBIA) has been used to monitor changes in vegetation, but only a few studies have related them to anthropic pressure. In this study, we assessed changes in cover, number, and shape of Ziziphus lotus shrub individuals in a coastal groundwater-dependent ecosystem in SE Spain over a period of 60 years and related them to human actions in the area. In particular, we evaluated how sand mining, groundwater extraction, and the protection of the area affect shrubs. To do this, we developed an object-based methodology that allowed us to create accurate maps (overall accuracy up to 98%) of the vegetation patches and compare the cover changes in the individuals identified in them. These changes in shrub size and shape were related to soil loss, seawater intrusion, and legal protection of the area measured by average minimum distance (AMD) and average random distance (ARD) analysis. It was found that both sand mining and seawater intrusion had a negative effect on individuals; on the contrary, the protection of the area had a positive effect on the size of the individuals’ coverage. Our findings support the use of OBIA as a successful methodology for monitoring scattered vegetation patches in drylands, key to any monitoring program aimed at vegetation preservation

Resistencia al nematodo Meloidogyne en patrones de tomate a temperaturas del suelo superiores a los 28ºC

El gen Mi en tomate confiere resistencia al nematodo Meloidogyne, aunque su eficacia disminuye a temperaturas superiores a los 28ºC. Para determinar la resistencia relativa de 12 patrones y cultivares de tomate frente a M. arenaria y M. javanica se realizaron ensayos en un invernadero sin control climático donde las plantas estaban sujetas a fluctuaciones diarias de temperatura. En el transcurso de los ensayos, la temperatura del suelo fue superior a 28ºC durante 31 días en el primer ensayo (Exp.1) y durante 20 días en el segundo (Exp. 2). El intervalo de tiempo en que la temperatura se mantuvo por encima de los 28oC osciló entre 0,5 a 6 horas/día en el Exp.1 y entre 0,5 a 7,5 horas/día en Exp. 2. Los patrones Morgan, King Kong y Unifort consistentemente mostraron alta resistencia frente a M. arenaria y M. javanica en ambos experimentos, incluso con picos de temperaturas superiores a 28ºC durante parte del experimento. Los patrones Multifort y Maxifort expresaron menor grado de resistencia que los anteriores bajo las mismas condiciones experimentales. En general, la tasa de multiplicación de M. javanica fue mayor (P<0,05) que la de M. arenaria tanto en los tomates resistentes como en los susceptibles.Postprint (published version
