Prevalence and risk factors of early and delayed postoperative infections after lower third molar surgery: a meta-analysis
Treball Final de Grau d'Odontologia, Facultat d'Odontologia, Universitat de Barcelona, Any: 2014, Director: Eduardo Valmaseda CastellónAim: To determine the prevalence and possible risk factors associated with early and delayed postoperative infections after lower third molar surgery, a meta-analysis of clinical studies was performed.
Materials and Methods: A systematic electronic and hand search was performed and 14 articles were finally included. Sample size, number of lower third molars extracted, infection criteria, number of infections and follow-up period were evaluated from each study reviewed. Meta-analysis was performed by the pooled prevalence of early and delayed postoperative infections and by the pooled odds ratio (OR) of risk factors. Eight randomized controlled trials, 2 case control studies, 3 cohort studies and 1 non-randomised controlled trial were included for data extraction.
Results: The pooled estimated prevalence of early infection was 2.05 % with a standard error of 397,2. Pell & Gregory category C was not significantly associated to infection, having an OR=1.66 (95 % CI: 0.81 to 3.41). Vertical third molar’s position was not significantly associated with infection with an OR= 0.910 (95% CI: 0.411 to 2.01). The use of antibiotics either as a prophylaxis before or immediately after extraction, did not significantly reduce the infection risk with an OR= 0.91 (95% IC: 0.41 to 2.01). However, having a pooled OR=2.52 (95% CI: 1.22 to 5.21) class III in the classification of Pell & Gregory seemed to be the only risk factor statistically significant for developing early infections. Delayed infections’ data could not be statistically analyzed in present meta-analysis.
Conclusion: Prevalence of early infection is estimated at 2.05%, so it is low compared with other postoperative complications. The only risk factor that seems to be statistically associated with postoperative infections is class III of Pell & Gregory classification
parà metres com acceleracions, velocitats punta i capacitat de frenada

Relationships between (a) fractional Intercepted PAR (fIPAR), and (b) aboveground biomass (Biomass) and (c) grain yield at harvest with the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived either from a spectroradiometer or a conventional camera at final grain filling (n = 12).Postprint (published version
Mètodes topogrà fics aplicats a l'auscultació d'edificis i estructures
plantejant casos i l'equip humà necessari.
The concept Internet of Things has recently appeared, more specifically by 2010. It makes reference to the connection between objects/ concepts within the Internet. The point is that they can interact with each other and with people by transmitting or receiving information as well as performing programmed actions based on available data. From then onwards, the vast majority of public and private institutions have become highly interested in this concept, as it might lead to a huge increase in people’s quality of life, bringing not only a resources saving, but also economic benefits. This is the origin of this Final Project since Fundació Eduard Soler from Ripoll is willing to enter and explore this field. The main objective of this Final Project is to create a wireless network which controls the temperature and lighting of Building C from the Fundació Eduard Soler while connecting it to the Internet. One of the conclusions that allowed me to come to this point/ project was the fact that by using low cost tools (Arduino, XBee, MySQL, PHP, ...) we can enter the exciting world of the Internet of Things and more achieving very good results
Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

than theory classes. The studentsÂ’ active role, for instance, improves their learning, but it is
not the only thing: motivation and assessment are also relevant.
In the new European context, co-operative learning plays an important role in the acquisition
of specific competences in chemistry and also in other subjects. Furthermore, co-operative
learning also encourages general competences such as team work, responsibility, organization,
team leading and efficient communication
Both physics and medicine are two sciences present in most of our daily life processes. The knowledge society has acquired in these areas are largely due to particle accelera-tors. There are several kinds of particle accelerators ranging from linear to circular. They all have lots of applications to science; being nowadays one of the most used the medical ones. This article deals mainly with those on the oncological field, where we can find both the use of radioisotopes to help diagnostics and the use of radiation in some therapies
Casa Alicante. Campolivar, Valencia, Spain
[EN] Location, material, funtion and shape are the four
elements that determine the fi nal result of each of the projects
we carry out. The location tells us about the site, about the
most favorable orientation, about the climate, it makes us value
the pre-existing construction: the material leads us towards
the most suitable construction in the immediate environment,
about which textures and tones are the most suitable; the
function imposes on us the uses and spaces that each user for
whom the projects are intended needs; and the shape is the
fi nal result of all the condition of the plot and the program that
has been stablished
The following article aims to highlight the entire architetural
and construction process of Casa Alicante (2020-2022), a
single-family home located in the urbanization of Campolivar,
