A Matching Model of the Housing Market: Searching for a Motivated Partner

    Get PDF
We construct a bilateral search model of the housing market in which agents differ in their flow rewards while searching. Buyers and sellers enter the market with high flow rewards, but move at a Poisson rate to a state with low flow rewards if they do not transact in the meantime. We characterize the equilibrium steady state matching pattern and compare this to the constrained efficient matching pattern. In particular we show that equilibrium is characterized by too little /Opportunistic Matching/, in which agents with high flow values will match only with agents with low flow values. We also characterize the joint distribution of price and time to sale (for sellers). The expected price conditional on time to sale falls with time spent on the market, while the conditional variance of price first rises and then falls with time on the market.

Measurement of Resonance Parameters of Orbitally Excited Narrow B^0 Mesons

We report a measurement of resonance parameters of the orbitally excited (L=1) narrow B^0 mesons in decays to B^{(*)+}\pi^- using 1.7/fb of data collected by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The mass and width of the B^{*0}_2 state are measured to be m(B^{*0}_2) = 5740.2^{+1.7}_{-1.8}(stat.) ^{+0.9}_{-0.8}(syst.) MeV/c^2 and \Gamma(B^{*0}_2) = 22.7^{+3.8}_{-3.2}(stat.) ^{+3.2}_{-10.2}(syst.) MeV/c^2. The mass difference between the B^{*0}_2 and B^0_1 states is measured to be 14.9^{+2.2}_{-2.5}(stat.) ^{+1.2}_{-1.4}(syst.) MeV/c^2, resulting in a B^0_1 mass of 5725.3^{+1.6}_{-2.2}(stat.) ^{+1.4}_{-1.5}(syst.) MeV/c^2. This is currently the most precise measurement of the masses of these states and the first measurement of the B^{*0}_2 width.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure, 1 table. Submitted to Phys.Rev.Let

Measurement of the fraction of t-tbar production via gluon-gluon fusion in p-pbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV

We present a measurement of the ratio of t-tbar production cross section via gluon-gluon fusion to the total t-tbar production cross section in p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV at the Tevatron. Using a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 955/pb recorded by the CDF II detector at Fermilab, we select events based on the t-tbar decay to lepton+jets. Using an artificial neural network technique we discriminate between t-tbar events produced via q-qbar annihilation and gluon-gluon fusion, and find Cf=(gg->ttbar)/(pp->ttbar)<0.33 at the 68% confidence level. This result is combined with a previous measurement to obtain the most precise measurement of this quantity, Cf=0.07+0.15-0.07.Comment: submitted to Phys. Rev.

Location and Economic Study for Interstate Route Tallahassee

    Get PDF
The basic purpose of the study was to determine the best location for the construction of an East-West section of the interstate highway. It was prescribed that the work would consist of two basic parts. One had to do with the analysis of travel data, both present and projected, in the determination of the most feasible location of a route based on conventional traffic and highway development factors. The other phase of the work was to deal with economic considerations, especially the economic impact of the proposed routes on businesses located on existing roads and on the central business district of Tallahassee

A Master Highway Transportation Plan for Tampa Metropolitan Area, Hillsborough County, Florida

    Get PDF
Fully recognizing the need for a comprehensive study of an integrated expressway and arterial highway system for the Tampa Metropolitan area, the State Road Department of Florida, jointly with the County of Hillsborough and the City of Tampa, engaged Wilbur Smith and Associates to develop a Master Highway Transportation Plan for the Tampa Area. The geographic limits of the study area are defined as the city limits of Tampa on the north, Tampa Bay on the west, Hillsborough Bay on the south, and U. S. Route 301 on the east. The development of basic planning data and necessary field studies were initiated in November of 1956. The report, as contained herein, is an objective, factual study of traffic needs, roadway facilities and terminal parking necessary to meet these needs. The arterial street system necessary to supplement and complement the interstate highways traversing the area is recommended, together with detailed functional plans for the proposed expressway system. All traffic needs were evaluated in terms of projected 1975 traffic requirements

Doctoral‐Level Counseling Students’ Experiences of Social Class Microaggressions

    Get PDF
The authors recruited 11 doctoral‐level counseling students to participate in a study exploring the lived experiences of people who have encountered social class microaggressions (SCMs). Findings (consisting of 6 themes) suggest that SCMs are a distinct phenomenon arising from interpersonal and environmental exchanges that damage recipients. The authors present implications for counselor education and future research trajectories
