Sequential Quantum Cloning
Not all unitary operations upon a set of qubits can be implemented by
sequential interactions between each qubit and an ancillary system. We analyze
the specific case of sequential quantum cloning 1->M and prove that the minimal
dimension D of the ancilla grows linearly with the number of clones M. In
particular, we obtain D = 2M for symmetric universal quantum cloning and D =
M+1 for symmetric phase-covariant cloning. Furthermore, we provide a recipe for
the required ancilla-qubit interactions in each step of the sequential
procedure for both cases.Comment: 4 pages, no figures. New version with changes. Accepted in Physical

This article intended to provide practical guidance to those undertaking digital preservation or considering doing so. The purpose of the following preservation planning is to preserve the integrity of digital objects and to retain the ability for users to retrieve, display, and otherwise use them in the face of constantly changing technology. There is therefore a need to preserve long term both born-digital and digital surrogate material. The report explores the range of options for digital preservation provides an analysis of the digital landscape, focusing on features that affect the integrity of digital information objects and which determine the ability of information professionals to preserve such objects over the long term
Dataset for holiday rentals’ daily rate pricing in a cultural tourism destination
This data article describes a holiday rental dataset from a medium-size cultural city destination. Daily rate and variables related to location, size, amenities, rating, and seasonality are highlighted as the main features. The data was extracted from Booking.com, legal registration of the accommodation (RTA) and Google Maps, among other sources. This dataset contains data from 665 holiday rentals offered as entire flat (rent per room was discarded), with a total of 1623 cases and 28 variables considered. Regarding data extraction, RTA is ordered by registration number, which is taken and, through a Google search with the following structure: "apartment registration no. + Booking + Seville", the holiday rental profile in Booking.com is found. Then, it is verified that both the address of the accommodation and the registration number match in RTA and Booking.com, proceeding with data extraction to a Microsoft Excel's file. Google Maps is used to determine the minutes spent walking from the accommodation to the spot of maximum tourist interest of the city. A price index based on the average price per square meter of real estate per district is also incorporated to the dataset, as well as a visual appeal rating made by the authors of every holiday rental based on its Booking.com photos profile. Only cases with complete data were considered. A statistics summary of all variables of the data collected is presented. This dataset can be used to develop an estimation model of daily prices of stay in holiday rentals through predetermined variables. Econometrics methodologies applied to this dataset can also allow testing which variables included affecting the composition of holiday rentals' daily rates and which not, as well as determining their respective influence on daily rates.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Quantum Imaging with Incoherent Photons
We propose a technique to obtain sub-wavelength resolution in quantum imaging
with potentially 100% contrast using incoherent light. Our method requires
neither path-entangled number states nor multi-photon absorption. The scheme
makes use of N photons spontaneously emitted by N atoms and registered by N
detectors. It is shown that for coincident detection at particular detector
positions a resolution of \lambda / N can be achieved.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, improved presentation. Accepted in Physical

Follow-up monitoring in a cat with leishmaniosis and coinfections with Hepatozoon felis and ‘Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum’
Case summary
A 6-year-old female neutered domestic shorthair cat from Cyprus was presented with multiple ulcerated skin nodules. Cytology and histopathology of the lesions revealed granulomatous dermatitis with intracytoplasmic organisms, consistent with amastigotes of Leishmania species. Biochemistry identified a mild hyperproteinaemia. Blood extraction and PCR detected Leishmania species, Hepatozoon species and ‘Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum’ (CMhm) DNA. Subsequent sequencing identified Hepatozoon felis. Additionally, the rRNA internal transcribed spacer 1 locus of Leishmania infantum was partially sequenced and phylogeny showed it to cluster with species derived from dogs in Italy and Uzbekistan, and a human in France. Allopurinol treatment was administered for 6 months. Clinical signs resolved in the second month of treatment with no deterioration 8 months post-treatment cessation. Quantitative PCR and ELISA were used to monitor L infantum blood DNA and antibody levels. The cat had high L infantum DNA levels pretreatment that gradually declined during treatment but increased 8 months post-treatment cessation. Similarly, ELISA revealed high levels of antibodies pretreatment, which gradually declined during treatment and increased slightly 8 months post-treatment cessation. The cat remained PCR positive for CMhm and Hepatozoon species throughout the study. There was no clinical evidence of relapse 24 months post-treatment.
Relevance and novel information
To our knowledge, this is the first clinical report of a cat with leishmaniosis with H felis and CMhm coinfections. The high L infantum DNA levels post-treatment cessation might indicate that although the lesions had resolved, prolonged or an alternative treatment could have been considere
Digital quantum simulation of spin models with circuit quantum electrodynamics
Systems of interacting quantum spins show a rich spectrum of quantum phases
and display interesting many-body dynamics. Computing characteristics of even
small systems on conventional computers poses significant challenges. A quantum
simulator has the potential to outperform standard computers in calculating the
evolution of complex quantum systems. Here, we perform a digital quantum
simulation of the paradigmatic Heisenberg and Ising interacting spin models
using a two transmon-qubit circuit quantum electrodynamics setup. We make use
of the exchange interaction naturally present in the simulator to construct a
digital decomposition of the model-specific evolution and extract its full
dynamics. This approach is universal and efficient, employing only resources
which are polynomial in the number of spins and indicates a path towards the
controlled simulation of general spin dynamics in superconducting qubit
platforms.Comment: 12 pages, 9 figure
Jaynes-Cummings Models with trapped surface-state electrons in THz cavities
An electron floating on the liquid Helium is proposed to be trapped (by a
micro-electrode set below the liquid Helium) in a high finesse cavity. Two
lowest levels of the vertical motion of the electron acts as a two-level
"atom", which could resonantly interact with the THz cavity. In the Lamb-Dicke
regime, wherein the electron's in-plane activity region is much smaller than
the wavelength of the cavity mode, the famous Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM) could
be realized. By applying an additional external classical laser beam to the
electron, a driven JCM could also be implemented. With such a driven JCM
certain quantum states, e.g., coherent states and the Schrodinger cat states,
of the THz cavity field could be prepared by one-step evolution. The numerical
results show that, for the typical parameters of the cavity and electron on
liquid Helium, a strong coupling between the artificial atom and the THz cavity
could be obtained.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figure
VOSA: Virtual Observatory SED Analyzer. An application to the Collinder 69 open cluster
The physical properties of almost any kind of astronomical object can be
derived by fitting synthetic spectra or photometry extracted from theoretical
models to observational data.
We want to develop an automatic procedure to perform this kind of fittings to
a relatively large sample of members of a stellar association and apply this
methodology to the case of Collinder 69.
We combine the multiwavelength data of our sources and follow a work-flow to
derive the physical parameters of the sources. The key step of the work-flow is
performed by a new VO-tool, VOSA. All the steps in this process are done in a
VO environment.
We present this new tool, and provide physical parameters such as T, gravity, luminosity, etc. for 170 candidate members to Collinder
69, and an upper-limit for the age of this stellar association.
This kind of studies of star forming regions, clusters, etc. produces a huge
amount of data, very tedious to analyse using the traditional methodology.
Thus, they are excellent examples where to apply the VO capabilities.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&
