DILEMAS INSURGENTES NO ESPORTE: AS PRÁTICAS ESPORTIVAS DISSONANTES

As a product of modernity and a phenomenon that saw full development during the 20th century, sport has also been affected by the demands of revolutionary movements of the 1960s and therefore split in multiple expressions. This research is concerned with two of them in particular, namely, elite sports for disabled athletes – notably the Paralympic Games – and tournaments where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people (LGBT) compete together – Gay and Outgames. The aim is to discuss bodies in action through what I call “dissonant sports practices”, in order to debate to what extent such practices could disrupt established normativity. The study’s contributes to thinking anthropologically about the extent to which those practices would be included/represented in mainstream sports, thus opening reconsiderations about them. Como producto de la modernidad y fenómeno de rápido desarrollo en el siglo XX, el deporte también ha sido afectado por las demandas de los movimientos revolucionarios de la década de 1960 y, por lo tanto, se rompió en múltiples expresiones. Esta investigación estudia dos de esas expresiones: el deporte para “minusválidos” (en particular los Juegos Paralímpicos) y los juegos donde compiten lesbianas, homosexuales, bisexuales y transexuales (LGBT) (Gay y Outgames). El objetivo es reflexionar sobre los cuerpos en acción por lo que llamo de “prácticas deportivas disonantes”, para discutir hasta donde estas prácticas tienen potencial para perturbar la normativa establecida. La contribución de la investigación es pensar en qué medida tales prácticas están representadas en el propio deporte mainstream, abriendo reconsideraciones sobre él mismo. Como produto da modernidade e fenômeno em franco desenvolvimento no século XX, o esporte igualmente foi afetado pelas reivindicações dos movimentos revolucionários dos anos 1960 e, assim, se esfacelou em múltiplas expressões. Esta pesquisa se preocupa com duas delas em particular: competições esportivas de atletas “com deficiência” (notadamente os Jogos Paralímpicos) e torneios em que lésbicas, gays, bissexuais e pessoas trans (LGBT) competem entre si (Gay e OutGames). O objetivo é ponderar sobre corpos em ação por meio do que almejo denominar “práticas esportivas dissonantes”, para discutir em que medida tais práticas teriam potencial disruptivo em relação a uma normatividade instituída. A contribuição justamente consistirá em pensar antropologicamente em que medida essas práticas estariam no esporte mainstream imiscuídas/representadas, abrindo possíveis reconsiderações sobre ele.

Circulando entre práticas esportivas e sexuais: etnografia em competições esportivas mundiais LGBTs

Programa de Pós-Graduação Interdisciplinar em Ciências HumanasEsta pesquisa nasceu de meu desejo em tentar investigar, de modo mais acentuado, as sexualidades esportivas de lésbicas, gays, bissexuais, travestis e transgêneros com a chamada "masculinidade hegemônica" nos esportes. Para tanto, e por questões de delimitação teórico-metodológica, escolhi analisar as práticas sociais e simbólicas de "atletas gays" e suas negociações no tocante a tal temática, em torneios esportivos específicos. Assim, meu objetivo era refletir sobre a materialização de corpos e a produção de subjetividades destes sujeitos, articuladas com as construções sociais e discursivas de masculinidade nas competições esportivas LGBT. Utilizando-me de pressupostos da antropologia multisituada, desenvolvi trabalho de campo em três cidades-sedes dos jogos (Copenhague, Colônia e Vancouver), em momentos distintos do período doutoral regulamentar. Entrevistas, conversas, treinamentos, redes sociais, as próprias observações participantes nestas competições, levaram-me a eleição de dezoito tópicos temáticos, que se entrecruzaram e se interseccionalizaram numa escrita hipertextual. O texto é labiríntico, rizomático e se outorga o direito de não ter início, meio ou fim. Como considerações finais-chave da etnografia exploro as seguintes indagações: a) as práticas esportivas queer (dissonantes e subversivas) proporiam um novo modelo de esporte?; b) a busca pela participação internacional em competições esportivas LGBT seria parte de uma estratégia de circulação global de corpos e "capitais ejaculantes" de sujeitos participantes?; c) a relação esporte-festa-sexo, componente constituinte das contendas, corrobora com a hipótese de vivermos uma nova era no capitalismo contemporâneo, notadamente farmacopornográfica?.This research has born from my desire to investigate, most notably, sexualities of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people within the "hegemonic masculinity" in the arena of sports. For this purpose (and by questions of theoretical and methodological delimitation), I have chosen to analyze social and symbolic practices of "gay athletes" and their negotiations related to this subject, at specific sports tournaments. Thus, my aim was to reflect upon the materialization of bodies and the production of subjectivities of these subjects, articulated with the social and discursive constructs of masculinity in LGBT sports competitions. Using the main assumptions of the multisited anthropology, I have conducted fieldwork in three international events (in Copenhagen, Cologne and Vancouver), at different times of the doctoral investigation. Interviews, conversations, training sessions, social networks, participant observation in all these competitions have led me to the election of eighteen thematic topics, which are intersected and written in a hypertext. This text is chaotic, rhizomatic, and grants the right to have no beginning, middle or end. As final key-considerations of the ethnography. I explore the following questions: a) The queer sport practices (jarring and subversive) would/could propose a new model of sport?; b) The search for international participation in LGBT sports competitions would be part of a strategy of global circulation of bodies and "ejaculation capitals" of the participating subjects?; c) The interrelation between sport-party-sex (intrinsic part of the contends),corroborate to the hypothesis that we live in a new era of the contemporary capitalism, notably "farmacopornograpic"

Esporte, cultura e política: a trajetória dos Gay Games nas práticas esportivas contemporâneas

The Gay Olympic Games were founded in 1982 in the United States to bring together sporting practitioners who did not meet up with compulsory heterosexual norms. The event gathers male homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, transvestites, transsexuals and others, including heterosexuals. The games have been held every four years for over 30 years; and they drive forward the debate on gender and sexual identities in the sporting arena, which has been traditionally discriminatory and homophobic. This chapter aims to present some anthropological considerations on the event, and also to bring back some specific ethnographic experiences the author had in three international editions of the Gay Games, so as to discuss gender and sexuality representations in sport.Os Jogos Olímpicos Gays foram criados em 1982 nos Estados Unidos, com a finalidade de agregar praticantes esportivos que não se filiavam aos ditames da heterossexualidade compulsória. Reunindo gays, lésbicas, bissexuais, travestis, transexuais e outros (inclusive heterossexuais), tais jogos ocorrem quadrienalmente há mais de trinta anos e trazem ao debate as identidades sexuais e de gênero no contexto de práticas esportivas, que, em geral, são discriminatórias e homofóbicas. O intuito deste capítulo é tecer considerações antropológicas sobre tal evento, bem como resgatar experiências etnográficas específicas do pesquisador em três edições internacionais dos Gay Games, com o objetivo de discutir representações de gênero e sexualidade nos esportes

Além do masculino/feminino: gênero, sexualidade, tecnologia e performance no esporte sob perspectiva crítica

A partir de experiências etnográficas no mundo esportivo, este texto articula dados empíricos e reflexão teórica em busca da compreensão das implicações para o esporte mainstream da existência de corpos não normativos/dissonantes, participantes em diferentes competições do sistema esportivo global. Questionamos não apenas as normatividades instituídas e presentes no meio esportivo, mas também as masculinidades/feminilidades como ficções políticas em vigor nas arenas esportivas. Dessa forma, propomos refletir sobre a alteridade presente no campo esportivo, a partir de corpos que sofrem/sofreram diferentes processos de transformação corporal ou que usam fármacos e outras substâncias. Gênero, sexualidade e deficiência são categorias que nos ajudarão a problematizar a construção de saberes e a gestão política dos usos dos corpos em performances de alto rendimento atlético.From ethnographic experiences in the sports world, this paper articulates empirical data and theoretical reflections in order to understand the implications to mainstream sport with the presence of non-normative/dissonant bodies that participate in different competitions of the global sports system. We question not only the established normativities in sport, but also the political fictions of masculinity/femininity in its spaces. Thus, we reflect on the otherness present in the sports field up from bodies that suffer/suffered body modification processes or that use drugs and other substances. Gender, sexuality and disability are categories that help us to problematize the construction of knowledges and the political management of the use of bodies in high level athletic performances

REGIMES DE CONTROLE NO ESPORTE: DAS MULHERES AOS CORPOS TRANS/INTERSEXO

A história olímpica moderna foi, desde seu princípio, marcada por questionamentos relativos ao gênero. Este artigo procura resgatar o controle estabelecido sobre os corpos de mulheres através de testes de verificação de sexo/gênero a fim de problematizar, particularmente, as tensões e políticas instituídas sobre corpos transgêneros e intersexos no esporte de alto nível. Mais especificamente, partindo da constatação de que existem corpos dissonantes no esporte convencional e que, por suas próprias existências, eles criticam o binarismo ali instituído, propôs-se questionar as relações que estabelecem com as normas e sistemas de controle, impostos verticalmente pelos órgãos que comandam o sistema esportivo global.Palavras-chave: Gênero; Esporte; Corpos Dissonantes; Jogos Olímpicos Regimes of Control in Sport: from women to trans/intersex bodies Abstract: Modern Olympic history was, from the beginning, marked by troubles about gender. This article seeks to emphasize the control established over the women’s bodies with sex/gender verification policies in order to problematize, particularly, tensions and policies instituted over transgender and intersex bodies in high-level sport. The state of the Martian climate

60°N was +2.0°C, relative to the 1981–2010 average value (Fig. 5.1). This marks a new high for the record. The average annual surface air temperature (SAT) anomaly for 2016 for land stations north of starting in 1900, and is a significant increase over the previous highest value of +1.2°C, which was observed in 2007, 2011, and 2015.
