Stepped vitrification technique for human ovarian tissue cryopreservation
The advantage of stepped vitrification (SV) is avoiding ice crystal nucleation, while decreasing the toxic effects of high cryoprotectant concentrations. We aimed to test this method for human ovarian tissue cryopreservation. Ovarian cortex was taken from 7 fertile adult women. Samples were subjected to an SV protocol performed in an automatic freezer, which allowed sample transfer to ever higher concentrations of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as the temperature was reduced. Histological evaluation of the vitrified-warmed tissue showed large numbers of degenerated follicles after 24 hours of in vitro culture. We therefore evaluated DMSO perfusion rates by X-ray computed tomography, ice crystal formation by freeze-substitution, and cell toxicity by transmission electron microscopy, seeking possible reasons why follicles degenerated. Although cryoprotectant perfusion was considered normal and no ice crystals were formed in the tissue, ultrastructural analysis detected typical signs of DMSO toxicity, such as mitochondria degeneration, alterations in chromatin condensation, cell vacuolization and extracellular matrix swelling in both stromal and follicular cells. The findings indicated that the method failed to preserve follicles due to the high concentrations of DMSO used. [11C]Carboxylated tetrazines for facile labeling of trans-cyclooctene-functionalized PeptoBrushes
Functionalization of macromolecules (antibodies, polymers, nanoparticles) with click-reactive groups greatly enhances the versatility of their potential applications. Click chemistry based on tetrazine - trans-cyclooctene (TCO) ligation is especially promising and is already widely applied for pretargeted imaging and therapy. Indirect radiolabeling of TCO-functionalized macromolecules with substoichiometric amounts of radioactive tetrazines is a convenient way to monitor the fate of those macromolecules by means of positron emission tomography (PET) imaging after their administration into the test subject. In this work, the preparation is reported of TCO-containing graft copolymers, namely PeptoBrushes (polyglutamic acid-graft-polysarcosine), novel [11C]carboxylated tetrazines, and their combined use in radiolabeling the polymer by inverse electron demand Diels Alder reaction, to investigate it is potential for an application in pretarget imaging or injectable brachytherapy. The procedure for [11C]tetrazine production is easy and scalable, while indirect TCO-PeptoBrushes labeling with these [11C]tetrazines is mild, fast, and quantitative. This strategy allows facile 11C-labeling of diverse TCO-functionalized macromolecules, so that their localization and distribution shortly after injection can be assessed by PET.Drug Delivery Technolog
Lattice Perturbation Theory in Noncommutative Geometry and Parity Anomaly in 3D Noncommutative QED
We formulate lattice perturbation theory for gauge theories in noncommutative
geometry. We apply it to three-dimensional noncommutative QED and calculate the
effective action induced by Dirac fermions. In particular "parity invariance"
of a massless theory receives an anomaly expressed by the noncommutative
Chern-Simons action. The coefficient of the anomaly is labelled by an integer
depending on the lattice action, which is a noncommutative counterpart of the
phenomenon known in the commutative theory. The parity anomaly can also be
obtained using Ginsparg-Wilson fermions, where the masslessness is guaranteed
at finite lattice spacing. This suggests a natural definition of the
lattice-regularized Chern-Simons theory on a noncommutative torus, which could

Desarrollo de un método de determinación multielemental para muestras medioambientales por espectrometría de absorción atómica
La contaminación ambiental es una gran preocupación para el ser humano, siendo los metales de transición y sus derivados los contaminantes más destacables del planeta, por ello es importante su control. La concentración de alguno de ellos puede ser muy baja, o incluso provenir de matrices complejas que pueden interferir en su determinación. La extracción en fase sólida magnética (MSPE) ofrece ventajas como la simplicidad, un alto factor de enriquecimiento y un consumo bajo de reactivos. En este trabajo se ha empleado un nuevo material absorbente basado en el acoplamiento de nanopartículas magnéticas (MNPs) y óxido de grafeno (GO) funcionalizado con metiltiosalicilato (MTS) que le proporciona selectividad para interaccionar con los metales de transición en disolución, M@GO-MTS, En base a este material se ha desarrollado un método de extracción en fase solida magnética y espectrometría de absorción atómica con horno de grafito de alta resolución y fuente continua (CS-HR-GFAAS). Este método se ha utilizado para la determinación simultanea de Ti, V, Ni en aguas medioambientales. Con el procedimiento se lograron límites de detección de 0.90, 0.60 y 0.75 μg/L para cada uno de los metales respectivamente, límites de cuantificación de 3.00, 2.01 y 2.49 μg/L respectivamente y factor de enriquecimiento de 250 con precisiones de 3,45% para el Ti, 1,46 % para el V y 4,20 % para el Ni.

suppressed decays and .
We normalize these decays to their Cabibbo favored partners and find

\pi^-D_s^+ \to K^+ K^- \pi^+ where
the first errors are statistical and the second are systematic. Expressed as

This is the first successful use of genetic programming in a high energy

Measurement of the D+ and Ds+ decays into K+K-K+
We present the first clear observation of the doubly Cabibbo suppressed decay
D+ --> K-K+K+ and the first observation of the singly Cabibbo suppressed decay
Ds+ --> K-K+K+. These signals have been obtained by analyzing the high
statistics sample of photoproduced charm particles of the FOCUS(E831)
experiment at Fermilab. We measure the following relative branching ratios:
Gamma(D+ --> K-K+K+)/Gamma(D+ --> K-pi+pi+) = (9.49 +/- 2.17(statistical) +/-
