Company-university collaboration in applying gamification to learning about insurance

Incorporating gamification into training–learning at universities is hampered by a shortage of quality, adapted educational video games. Large companies are leading in the creation of educational video games for their internal training or to enhance their public image and universities can benefit from collaborating. The aim of this research is to evaluate, both objectively and subjectively, the potential of the simulation game BugaMAP (developed by the MAPFRE Foundation) for university teaching about insurance. To this end, we have assessed both the game itself and the experience of using the game as perceived by 142 economics students from various degree plans and courses at the University of Seville during the 2017–2018 academic year. As a methodology, a checklist of gamification components is used for the objective evaluation, and an opinion questionnaire on the game experience is used for the subjective evaluation. Among the results several findings stand out. One is the high satisfaction of the students with the knowledge acquired using fun and social interaction. Another is that the role of the university professors and the company monitors turns out to be very active and necessary during the game-learning sessions. Finally, in addition to the benefits to the university of occasionally available quality games to accelerate student skills training, the company–university collaboration serves as a trial and refinement of innovative tools for game-based learning

Low power LVDS transceiver for AER links with burst mode operation capability

This paper presents the design and simulation of an LVDS transceiver intended to be used in serial AER links. Traditional implementations of LVDS serial interfaces require a continuous data flow between the transmitter and the receiver to keep the synchronization. However, the serial AER-LVDS interface proposed in [2] operates in a burst mode, having long times of silence without data transmission. This can be used to reduce the power consumption by switching off the LVDS circuitry during the pauses. Moreover, a fast recovery time after pauses must be achieved to not slow down the interface operation. The transceiver was designed in a 90 nm technology. Extensive simulations have been performed demonstrating a 1 Gbps data rate operation for all corners in post-layout simulations. Use of probiotics, prebiotics and symbiotics for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia: A narrative review

Trabajo fin de grado en EnfermeríaObjetivo: Analizar el uso de probióticos, prebióticos y simbióticos para la prevención de la neumonía asociada a ventilación mecánica (NAVM), examinar otros indicadores, tales como la mortalidad, el tiempo de estancia hospitalaria y la duración de ventilación mecánica (VM), y enunciar la percepción/conocimiento por parte del personal sanitario. Metodología: Se llevó a cabo una revisión narrativa mediante búsquedas bibliográficas en las bases de datos Pubmed, Cinahl, Cochrane, Cuiden y Scielo. Se ha utilizado lenguaje libre y controlado, formando las estrategias de búsqueda mediante operadores booleanos dentro del límite temporal 2014-2019. Resultados: Se obtuvieron 14 artículos, a partir de los cuales se establecieron 3 líneas temáticas para dar respuesta a los objetivos marcados: prevención de NAVM, otros indicadores (mortalidad, tiempo de estancia hospitalaria y duración de VM) y percepción/conocimiento por parte del personal sanitario. Conclusiones: El uso de probióticos, prebióticos y simbióticos reduce la incidencia de NAVM, pero no influye significativamente en la mortalidad, el tiempo de estancia hospitalaria ni en la duración de la VM. La mayoría de los probióticos utilizados pertenecían a la familia Lactobacillus, el prebiótico utilizado fue polvo de semilla de fenogreco y el simbiótico utilizado fue Yakult BL. No hubo efectos adversos tras su administración. Todavía se necesitan más estudios para comprobar la efectividad de estos, ya que los probióticos utilizados y su tratamiento son muy heterogéneosAim: To analyze the use of probiotics, prebiotics and symbiotics for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), to examine other indicators, such as mortality, length of hospital stay and duration of mechanical ventilation (MV), and to state the perception/knowledge by health personnel of these products. Free and controlled language has been used, forming search strategies using Boolean operators within 2014-2019 time filter. Results: 14 articles were obtained, from which 3 thematic lines were established to answer the objectives mentioned above: prevention of VAP, other indicators (mortality, length of hospital stay and duration of MV) and perception/knowledge by health personnel. Conclusions: The use of probiotics, prebiotics and symbiotics reduces the incidence of VAP, but doesn’t significantly influence on mortality, length of hospital stay or duration of MV. Most of the probiotics used belonged to the Lactobacillus family, the prebiotic used was fenugreek seed powder and the symbiotic used was Yakult BL. There were no adverse effects after its administration. More studies are still needed to verify the effectiveness of these, because the probiotics used and their treatments are very heterogeneou

As características do media radiofónico em Internet, da webrádio, oferece múltiplas potencialidades para as rádios universitárias, que estão a registar um crescimento exponencial dado a web proporcionar a emergência de novas formas de criação, emissão, difusão e partilha. O presente artigo apresenta uma discussão prospectiva em torno das potencialidades da webrádio para uma comunidade universitária, que inclui a identificação do potencial de uso em contexto de ensino-aprendizagem.Changes from analogical radio to webradio has involved an audible product updating that, with digital media elements incorporation, achieves a projection further of the audible field.
