A Simple Selling and Buying Procedure

For the assignment game, we analyze the following mechanism: sellers, simultaneously, fix their prices first; then buyers, sequentially, decide which object to buy, if any, among the remaining objects. The first phase of the game determines the potential prices, while the second phase determines the actual matching. We prove that the set of subgame perfect equilibria in pure strategies in the strong sense of the mechanism coincides with the set of sellers' optimal stable outcomes when buyers use maximal strategies. That is, the mechanism leads to the maximum equilibrium prices and to an optimal matching.

Anxiety and fear of COVID-19 among shantytown dwellers in the megacity of Lima

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic is not only having a negative impact on individuals’ physical health, but also on their mental health. Particularly, people living in disadvantaged communities in the developing world have been hit the hardest by the pandemic. They live precariously and are more vulnerable to mental health issues. Objective: In this study, we have evaluated COVID-19-related anxiety and fear and the predictors associated with them among shantytown dwellers in the Peruvian capital. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study in which 816 shantytown dwellers participated. Anxiety and fear of the virus were assessed using the Corona Anxiety Scale (CAS) and the Fear of COVID-19 Scale. Also, sociodemographic data were collected. Results: Stable and occasional workers were more likely to show the anxiety about the virus, whereas older adults presented higher levels of fear of COVID-19. Shantytown dwellers who were single, female, unemployed, had a relative at home who was infected with COVID-19 before the fieldworker’s visit, and had a relative who died of the virus were more likely to display anxiety and fear of COVID-19. Conclusion: Targeted interventions should be made available to slum dwellers promptly when needed, to help them cope with their mental health problems and prevent dire consequences such as domestic violence and suicidal tendencies.Background: The COVID-19 pandemic is not only having a negative impact on individuals’ physical health, but also on their mental health. Super-alarms with diagnosis proficiency used as an additional layer of protection applied to an oil transport system

In automated plants, particularly in the petrochemical, energy, and chemical industries, the combined management of all of the incidents that can produce a catastrophic accident is required. In order to do this, an alarm management methodology can be formulated as a discrete event sequence recognition problem, in which time patterns are used to identify the safe condition of the process, especially in the start-up and shutdown stages. In this paper, a new layer of protection (a Super-Alarm), based on the diagnostic stage to industrial processes is presented. The alarms and actions of the standard operating procedures are considered to be discrete events involved in sequences; the diagnostic stage corresponds to the recognition of the situation when these sequences occur. This provides operators with pertinent information about the normal or abnormal situations induced by the flow of the alarms. Chronicles Based Alarm Management (CBAM) is the methodology used in this document to build the chronicles that will permit us to generate the Super-Alarms; in addition, a case study of the petrochemical sector using CBAM is presented in order to build one chronicle that represents the scenario of an abnormal start-up of an oil transport system. Diseño de un sistema fotovoltaico para suministrar energía eléctrica al caserío Anexo Perlas del Altiplano Juliaca – Puno

A través de esta propuesta de investigación es abastecer de energía eléctrica a las viviendas y planta de bombeo del Caserío Anexo Perlas del Altiplano del distrito Juliaca a través de un diseño sistema fotovoltaico para suministrar energía eléctrica al Caserío Anexo Perlas del Altiplano Juliaca – Puno. El tipo de metodología de investigación actual utilizada es de investigación aplicada en el Caserío Anexo Perlas del Altiplano; la toma de datos se realizó en el Caserío Anexo Perlas del Altiplano, para ello se realizaron encuestas a los pobladores del Caserío Anexo Perlas del Altiplano. Adicionalmente, Se utilizó el formulario de recolección de datos y la observación directa. La información de consumo medio diario se recolectó, mediante una encuesta realizada a los pobladores del Caserío Anexo Perlas del Altiplano. y la toma de datos de radiación solar mediante el equipo de medición Solarimetro, cabe mencionar también que el caserío de Anexo Perlas del Altiplano se diseñara una planta de bombeo de agua a la cual también se le realizo el diseño y calculo respectivo. Esto permitió el cálculo de la cantidad de energía necesaria, así como la predicción de su crecimiento a lo largo del tiempo. El estudio actual es práctico, sostenible y garantiza que los pobladores finales recibirán un servicio de energía de alta calidad sobre todo eco amigable. La implementación de este proyecto muestra a las generaciones futuras cómo utilizar la radiación solar de la manera más eficiente posible, generar más energía más producción de energía y en consecuencia tener la plena convicción de la protección del medio ambiente

SEXUALIDADE SOB SUSPEITA: NOVAS NEGOCIAÇÕES DO SIGNIFICADO DE SER MULHER NO ESPORTE DE ALTO DESEMPENHO

On the one hand, this research aims to explore the perceptions of women practicing high-performance sports about how they are viewed by their social environment in terms of their femininity and sexual orientation. On the other hand, it analyzes the visibility and acceptance of homosexuality in the sports context by both athletes and the social agents surrounding them. The research methodology was qualitative, with five focus groups including 46 women who practiced futsal, handball, volleyball, athletics and swimming. Results show that they present a resistance-oriented discourse against butch-lesbian stereotypes that, as we prove, are still present in collective imagination. Despite social advances perceived in this regard, homosexuality remains stigmatized and forms of cognitive-affective rejection persist in part of Spanish society.Esta investigación tiene como objetivos, por un lado, explorar las percepciones de las deportistas acerca de cómo son evaluadas por su entorno social con relación a la feminidad y a su orientación sexual por su vinculación con una práctica deportiva de alto rendimiento. Por otro, analizar la visibilidad y aceptación de la homosexualidad en el contexto deportivo tanto por las deportistas como por los agentes sociales que las rodean. La metodología fue de tipo cualitativo. Se llevaron a cabo cinco grupos focales en los que participaron 46 mujeres practicantes de futbol sala, balonmano, voleibol, atletismo y natación. Los resultados muestran que las deportistas presentan un discurso de resistencia frente al estereotipo de marimacho-lesbiana que, comprobamos, continúa vigente en el imaginario colectivo. A pesar de que se perciben avances sociales en este sentido, la homosexualidad sigue estigmatizada y aún persisten formas de rechazo cognitivo-afectivo en parte de la sociedad española. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo, por um lado, explorar as percepções das atletas sobre como são avaliadas pelo seu ambiente social em relação à feminilidade e sua orientação sexual, para vincular-se a uma prática esportiva de alto desempenho e, por outro, analisar a visibilidade e aceitação da homossexualidade no contexto esportivo, tanto pelos atletas como pelos agentes sociais ao seu redor. A metodologia foi qualitativa. Foram feitos cinco grupos focais nos quais participaram 46 mulheres praticando futsal, handebol, vôlei, atletismo e natação. Os resultados mostram que as atletas apresentam um discurso de resistência contra o estereótipo da "Maria-João" o "sapatão" que, verificamos, ainda está em vigor na imaginação coletiva. Embora os avanços sociais sejam percebidos nesse sentido, a homossexualidade permanece estigmatizada e ainda persistem as formas de rejeição cognitivo-afetiva em parte da sociedade espanhola.

Budgetary impact analysis of preexposure prophylaxis (prep) strategy for the prevention of hiv in Colombia, 2019-2021

We aimed to estimate the budgetary impact of a PrEP strategy for the prevention and control of HIV in men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW) in Colombia. We adapted a budgetary impact model developed by Fundación Oswaldo Fiocruz, Brazil. Modelling was performed from the third-payer perspective over a 3-year period. Epidemiological and cost inputs were extracted from literature reviews and Colombian data. Two scenarios were simulated: 1. No PrEP scenario; and, 2. New scenario: MSM and TGW would have access to a PrEP program, which potentially reduce the HIV cases. Costs include the sum of PrEP program costs for MSM and TGW, and the treatment costs of cases that will occur in the 3-years of implementation. The new scenario was modelled at different risk and PrEP program coverage levels. Budget impact analysis (BIA) was calculated as the difference between the two scenarios. Cost were reported in Colombian pesos (COP). At a PrEP coverage of 80% and an incidence of 4.5 per 100 person-year would be avoid 4,057, 4,315 and 4,383 HIV cases in MSM for years 1, 2 and 3, respectively. The BIA was COP$47 billion for year 1; COP$20 billion for the second, and for the third year the PrEP program would save COP$11 billion. In TGW, at a PrEP coverage of 80$3.3 billion, COP$-2.1 billion and COP$-8.1 billion, respectively. PrEP strategy should focus on small fractions of the population at high risk, such as those addressed in our study. Our results suggest that PrEP program would avoid cases and save costs for the Colombian health system

Plan de negocio para evaluar la viabilidad económica de una empresa de venta de zapatos loafers de biocuero para damas, con accesorios personalizados, mediante e-commerce en Lima moderna

El objetivo general del plan de negocios es evaluar la viabilidad económica de la empresa de zapatos loafers de biocuero para damas con accesorios personalizados mediante e-commerce en Lima moderna. Los objetivos específicos incluyen mantener un flujo de caja positivo para respaldar el crecimiento sostenible y la expansión del negocio, y asegurar la disponibilidad adecuada de capital de trabajo para respaldar la operación diaria de la empresa. Para lograr estos objetivos, se realizó un análisis cuantitativo y descriptivo de la data recopilada en una encuesta, donde se examinó la información obtenida para cada pregunta formulada en el cuestionario. Los resultados indicaron que el 87.66% de las mujeres encuestadas pertenecen al rango de edad de 20 a 40 años, el ingreso promedio del 80% de las encuestadas es superior a los S/2500 y el 70% de mujeres encuestadas tiene de 11 a 20 pares de zapatos. En conclusión, este plan de negocios presenta una oportunidad de negocio prometedora para atender a las mujeres peruanas que buscan estar a la moda con exclusividad y sentirse cómodas. Participación en actividades recreativas con exposición sonora y mecanismo coclear de protección auditiva en jóvenes universitarios

The relationship between participation in recreational activities with sound exposure and the cochlear mechanism of hearing protection regulated by the medial efferent system was determined. 72 young people between 18 and 25 years old were evaluated by means of a questionnaire on Sound exposure in recreational activities and Contralateral Suppression (CS) by Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAE). Young people were classified in categories of General Exposure to Music (GEM). At the hearing level, the ears were classified into Group 1 (DPOAES present normal) and Group 2 (DPOAES present abnormal). Then the DPOAES CS was applied. No clear trend was found that directly related GEM and hearing level. This situation could indicate that both act independently. However, most of the young people in Group 2 belonged to the middle and upper categories, this suggest that the protection mechanism could be vulnerable if the exposure were maintained or increased in the future.Se determinó la relación entre la participación en actividades recreativas con exposición sonora y el mecanismo coclear de protección auditiva regulado por el Sistema Eferente Medial. Se evaluaron 72 jóvenes entre 18 y 25 años, mediante cuestionario sobre Exposición sonora en actividades recreativas y Supresión Contralateral (SC) de Otoemisiones Productos de Distorsión (OEAPD). De acuerdo a la exposición se clasificaron categorías de Exposición General a Música (EGM). A nivel auditivo se clasificaron los oídos en Grupo 1 (OEAPD presentes normales) y Grupo 2 (OEAPD presentes anormales). Luego se aplicó la SC de OEAPD. No se encontró una tendencia clara que relacione directamente EGM y nivel auditivo. Esta situación podría indicar que ambos actúan independientemente. Sin embargo, la mayoría de los jóvenes del Grupo 2 pertenecían a las categorías media y alta, pudiendo inferir que el mecanismo de protección podría encontrarse vulnerable si la exposición se mantuviera o incrementara a futuro

Essential role of HDAC6 in the regulation of PD-L1 in melanoma

Indexación: Web of Science; Scopus.Histone deacetylases (HDACs), originally described as histone modifiers, have more recently been deMonstrated to target a variety of other proteins unrelated to the chromatin environment. In this context, our present work demonstrates that the pharmacological or genetic abrogation of HDAC6 in primary melanoma samples and cell lines, down-regulates the expression of PD-L1, an important co-stimulatory molecule expressed in cancer cells, which activates the inhibitory regulatory pathway PD-1 in T-cells. Our data suggests that this novel mechanism of PD-L1 regulation is mainly mediated by the influence of HDAC6 over the recruitment and activation of STAT3. Additionally, we observed that selective HDAC6 inhibitors impairs tumor growth and reduce the in vim expression of several inhibitory checkpoint molecules and other regulatory pathways involved in immunosurveillance. Most importantly, these results provide a key pre-clinical rationale and justification to further study isotype selective HDAC6 inhibitors as potential immuno-modulatory agents in cancer.
