    An efficient IoT based biomedical health monitoring and diagnosing system using myRIO

    With the growing and aging population, patient auto monitoring systems are becoming more popular. Smart sensors linked with the internet of things (IoT) make patients' auto monitoring system possible. Nowadays myRIO with LabVIEW is more popular for easy data acquisition, instrument control, and automation. This paper proposed myRIO and IoT based health monitoring and diagnosing system (HMDS) to acquire heartbeat rate, pulse, blood pressure (BP), temperature and activities of the patient using various smart sensors with more accuracy. The acquired raw data from the various sensors had been sent to the myRIO using ESP 8266 Wi-Fi module. The received raw data by the myRIO would be processed to the equivalent medical parameters using LabVIEW and the same might be transferred to the remote monitoring system (RMS) using cloud via a gateway. The abnormalities in the obtained data would be monitored and the diagnosis was made. The experimental setup was developed using various wearable sensors, ESP 8266, myRIO with LabVIEW and cloud with the gateway

    Mechanism of the hydrodenitrogenation of neopentylamine and adamantylamine on sulfided NiMo/Al2O3

    Neopentanethiol, 1-adamantanethiol, and 2-adamantanethiol were primary products and neopentane and adamantane were secondary products in the hydrodenitrogenation of neopentylamine, 1-adamantylamine, and 2-adamantylamine, respectively, over sulfided NiMo/Al2O3. Dialkylamines and dialkylimines were formed as primary products in the reactions of 2-adamantylamine and neopentylamine as well. None of the three amines can react by ammonia elimination and a classic SN2 substitution of the NH2 group by H2S is not possible for the adamantylamines either. The formation of di(2-adamantyl)imine and di(neopentyl)imine indicates that dehydrogenation and hydrogenation reactions occur and that imine or iminium-cation intermediates play an important role. NH2-SH substitution takes place by dehydrogenation of the amine to an imine or iminium cation, which adds H2S and eliminates NH3. The secondary character of adamantane and neopentane demonstrates that hydrogenolysis of the aliphatic C-N bond does not take place over sulfided NiMo/Al2O3 below 340°C. Even though 1-adamantylamine can neither react by classic SN2, E1, and E2 reactions, nor via an imine or iminium cation, it formed 1-adamanethiol at 300°C.     Preparation and Characterization of NiO Thin Films by DC Reactive Magnetron Sputtering

    Nickel oxide (NiO) thin films were successfully deposited on Corning 7059 glass substrates at different oxygen partial pressures in the range of 1 × 10 – 4 to 9 × 10 – 4 mbar using dc reactive magnetron sputtering technique. Structural properties of NiO films showed polycrystalline nature with cubic structure along (220) orientation. The optical transmittance and band gap values of the films increased with increasing the oxygen partial pressure from 1 × 10 – 4 to 5 × 10 – 4 mbar and decreased on further increasing the oxygen partial pressure. Using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), fine grains were observed at oxygen partial pressure of 5 × 10 – 4 mbar. The film resistivity decreases from 90.48 to 13.24 Ω cm with increase in oxygen partial pressure to 5 × 10 – 4 mbar and then increased on further increasing the oxygen partial pressure.     AN INSIGHT INTO THE VOLUME COMPONENT GENERATED FROM RISAT-1 HYBRID POLARIMETRIC SAR DATA FOR CROP BIOPHYSICAL PARAMETERS RETRIEVAL

    Polarimetric parameters have been extensively used for target parameters retrieval than backscattering coefficients. In previous studies, volume component generated from polarimetric SAR data has been considered as the return signal component from vegetation and intern used this for biophysical parameters retrieval. Un-polarized component of the return signal has been considered as volume component. The present study is mainly focused to analyze the volume component generated from C-band RISAT-1 hybrid polarimetric SAR data from wheat crop. Three temporal datasets acquired at ∼31° central incidence angle between Jan and Mar 2016 over parts of Bharatpur and Mathura districts located in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh (India) have been used in this study. Water Cloud Model with Gaps has been considered for modeling the first Stokes parameter (g0), which represents total intensity of return signal, from wheat crop using LAI and Interaction factor as vegetation descriptors. The vegetation component derived using calibrated Water Cloud Model with Gaps has been analyzed with volume component derived from RISAT-1 hybrid polarimetric SAR data. The analyses observed that a significant difference during lower LAI values and shown comparably during higher LAI values. The higher values of volume component derived from RISAT-1 SAR data than modeled vegetation component indicates that the volume component can also be generated by underneath soil. It is also observed the difference in derived un-polarized component and modeled vegetation component has shown higher correlation with underneath soil moisture than directly correlating with derived un-polarized component. This study indicates that the volume component derived from hybrid polarimetric SAR data has return signals from vegetation as well as underneath soil

    On the occurrence of buckler crab Cryptopodia angulata in the coastal waters of India

    464-467The trend of marine non-indigenous species in India has been increasing, with more than half of the species probably being introduced by shipping. A live specimen of buckler crab Cryptopodia angulata was found along the west coast of India at 40 m depth. The recent new records at different Indian coastal locations suggest that the crab is widening its distribution. Shipping is thought to be the possible introduction vector (via ballast) for the spread of C. angulata in the coastal waters of India. Further, the favorable environmental conditions prevalent in the Indian coastal waters may facilitate the establishment and subsequent spread of C. angulata. The invasion of this buckler crab may have negative impact on the native species. Although not present in detectable numbers, C. angulata may pose a major threat to the native species, if it establishes. Information on the establishment and distribution of C. angulata from other locations along the Indian coast would be essential to comprehensively and effectively address the threat

    Honeynet Implementation in Cyber Security Attack Prevention with Data Monitoring System Using AI Technique and IoT 4G Networks

    Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) comprises of the ubiquitous object concept those are connected with Internet to provide ability of data transmission and sensing over network. The smart appliances transmits the data through CPS devices with the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) exhibits improved performance characteristics with significant advantages such as time savings, reduced cost, higher human comfort and efficient electricity utilization. In the minimal complexity sensor nodes cyber physical system is adopted for the heterogeneous environment for the wireless network connection between clients or hosts. However, the conventional security scheme uses the mechanisms for desktop devices with efficient utilization of resources in the minimal storage space environment, minimal power processing and limited energy backup. This paper proposed a Secure Honeynet key authentication (SHKA) model for security attack prevention through effective data monitoring with IoT 4G communication. The proposed SHKA model uses the lightweight key agreement scheme for authentication to provide security threats and confidentiality issues in CPS applications. With the implementation of SHKA HoneyNet model the data in IoT are monitored for security mechanism in IoT environment. The middleware module in SHKA scheme uses the Raspberry platform to establish internetworking between CPS device to achieve dynamic and scalability. The secure IoT infrastructure comprises of flexible evaluation of user-centric environment evaluation for the effectiveness. The developed SHKA model perform mutual authentication between CPS devices for minimal computation overhead and efficiency. The wireless channel uses the dynamic session key for the secure communication for cyber-attacks security with lightweight security in CPS system. The SHKA model demonstrate the effectiveness based on consideration of three constraints such as low power processing, reduced storage and minimal backup energy. Experimental analysis stated that proposed SHKA scheme provides lightweight end-to-end key establishment in every session. The CPS devices generates the session key of 128 bit long. The minimum key size is implemented to provide effective security in IoT 4G communication with minimal execution time. The simulation results demonstrated that SHKA model exhibits effective cyber-attacks for the constraint devices to improve performance of IoT network

    THE SENSITIVITY OF C-BAND HYBRID POLARIMETRIC RISAT-1 SAR DATA TO LEAF AREA INDEX OF PADDY CROP

    Active microwave remote sensing data has become an important source to retrieve crop biophysical parameters due to its unique sensitivity towards geometrical, structural and dielectric properties of various crop components. The temporal variability of various crop biophysical parameters during crop cycle has significant impact on the overall crop yield. In this study, two RISAT-1 hybrid polarimetric temporal SAR datasets at ∼32° incidence angle were acquired during 2015 Kharif season. The in-situ leaf area index (LAI) values from seventeen paddy fields were measured in synchrony to the satellite passes during both the campaigns. Analysis observed the decreasing trend of backscattering coefficients (σ°RH, σ°RV) with increase in LAI. Results indicate that the sensitivity of hybrid polarimetric parameters towards LAI, also depends on the change in crop structure due to crop growth. This study investigate the sensitivity of backscattering coefficients (σ°RH, σ°RV) and polarimetric parameters (even bounce, odd bounce and volume component) generated from m-δ, m-χ and m-α space decompositions towards LAI using empirical analysis. An increase of 0.16 in R2 (from 0.63 to 0.79) clearly indicates that the polarimetric parameters (even bounce, odd bounce and volume component) are more sensitive to LAI of paddy crop than the backscattering coefficients (σ°RH, σ°RV). It has been identified that the combined use of backscattering coefficients as well as polarimetric parameters (even bounce, odd bounce and volume component) in the model, can significantly improve the accuracy of the LAI estimation

    Complex regulation by Apetala2 domain-containing transcription factors revealed through analysis of the stress-responsive TdCor410b promoter from durum wheat

    Expression of the wheat dehydrin gene Cor410b is induced several fold above its non-stressed levels upon exposure to stresses such as cold, drought and wounding. Deletion analysis of the TdCor410b promoter revealed a single functional C-repeat (CRT) element. Seven transcription factors (TFs) were shown to bind to this CRT element using yeast one-hybrid screens of wheat and barley cDNA libraries, of which only one belonged to the DREB class of TFs. The remaining six encoded ethylene response factors (ERFs) belong to three separate subfamilies. Analysis of binding selectivity of these TFs indicated that all seven could bind to the CRT element (GCCGAC), and that three of the six ERFs could bind both to the CRT element and the ethylene-responsive GCC-box (GCCGCC). The TaERF4 subfamily members specifically bound the CRT element, and did not bind either the GCC-box or DRE element (ACCGAC). Molecular modeling and site-directed mutagenesis identified a single residue Pro42 in the Apetala2 (AP2) domain of TaERF4-like proteins that is conserved in monocotyledonous plants and is responsible for the recognition selectivity of this subfamily. We suggest that both DREB and ERF proteins regulate expression of the Cor410b gene through a single, critical CRT element.     How safe are our children in vehicles on the road? a Malaysian perspective

    As Malaysia races towards a developed nation status, children are increasingly being ferried daily in vehicles almost exclusively as the majority of the population are able to afford private transportations. This paper reviews the current safety concerns for children whilst going in vehicles on Malaysian roads and the steps undertaken to address the need to enhance children’s safety whilst going in these vehicles and suggest possible remedial action to counter the possible lack of awareness for children’s safety whilst in these vehicles. This paper focuses on children on motorcycles and private vehicles (cars, vans and multi-purpose vehicle (MPV)) and excludes other form of transport (buses, lorries) as this paper tries to put forth measures that can be undertaken by the children’s parents and guardian to better enhance the safety of their children. A search was undertaken of all the major database of articles. Articles related to children’s safety systems, children related injuries, children related accident data, available laws and legislation were reviewed to present the need for greater awareness of children’s safety while going in vehicles in Malaysia. There are currently already safety legislations, measures, steps and equipments in place in ensuring the safety of children whilst going in vehicles on Malaysian roads. However, enforcement of laws in developing countries are not easy and we have to start at the root of the problem which is the parents and adults who ferry these children in vehicles. There is a pressing need to educate parents and adults alike on the urgent undertaking of child safety whilst in vehicles. Engineering countermeasures and intervention are probably needed to protect these vulnerable users. For vehicles, a device capable of providing some sort of protection to the child whilst riding pillion should be designed and developed. A legislation mandating the use of child seats whilst ensuring the child seats are affordable to the masses

    Calcium-dependent dynamics of cadherin interactions at cell–cell junctions

    Cadherins play a key role in the dynamics of cell–cell contact formation and remodeling of junctions and tissues. Cadherin–cadherin interactions are gated by extracellular Ca^(2+), which serves to rigidify the cadherin extracellular domains and promote trans junctional interactions. Here we describe the direct visualization and quantification of spatiotemporal dynamics of N-cadherin interactions across intercellular junctions in living cells using a genetically encodable FRET reporter system. Direct measurements of transjunctional cadherin interactions revealed a sudden, but partial, loss of homophilic interactions (τ = 1.17 ± 0.06 s^(−1)) upon chelation of extracellular Ca^(2+). A cadherin mutant with reduced adhesive activity (W2A) exhibited a faster, more substantial loss of homophilic interactions (τ = 0.86 ± 0.02 s^(−1)), suggesting two types of native cadherin interactions—one that is rapidly modulated by changes in extracellular Ca^(2+) and another with relatively stable adhesive activity that is Ca^(2+) independent. The Ca^(2+)-sensitive dynamics of cadherin interactions were transmitted to the cell interior where β-catenin translocated to N-cadherin at the junction in both cells. These data indicate that cadherins can rapidly convey dynamic information about the extracellular environment to both cells that comprise a junction
