Painting and music in the work of Victor Mira: The cycle Beethoven Fifth Symphony

In these paintings, Mira incorporates the musical symbols of the initial notes of Beethoven’s score, which were traditionally identified as the “Fate motif.” Mira reflects on the historical and symbolic dimensions of the symphony and also outlines a subjective singular appropriation, related to his own illness. This study examines the essential components of the dialogue between music and painting as they are manifested in Mira’s creations on the symphony by Beethoven. In addition, it analyzes other works on the same subject by Wassily Kandinsky, Arnulf Rainer, Mauricio Kagel and Dieter Rot

Tourism&Theatre. To be or not to be?

This project seeks to study the Tourism&Theatre phenomenon. The main proposal of the research is to highlight strategies of how an urban destination can make, from its inherent theatre products and theatrical culture, a tourist attraction. The methodology undertaken has been an exploratory search of qualitative information thanks to exhaustive in-depth interviews with theatrical and tourism professionals and companies. Currently, London and New York are the most successful examples of Tourism&Theatre destinations. However, examples from other western destinations are devising alternatives strategies.Surprisingly, the conclusion that the project has unearthed is that tourism accessibility is the key to Tourism&Theatre phenomenon. In destinations where theatre is not yet a tourism attraction, tourist managers should focus on making the art form more reachable for tourist consumption (content accessibility, communication campaigns, distribution channels, etc.). Thus, the creation of a tourism accessibility company applied to theatre could be the most feasible strategy to adopt

Treball final de Grau en Disseny i Desenvolupament de Videojocs. Codi: VJ1241. Curs acadèmic: 2020/2021Flip Blocks is a puzzle game for mobile devices where different shaped pieces will fall from the upper side of the game board and will slowly move towards the bottom. The player will have to move and rotate the pieces in order to make them fit in the board and complete lines. Pieces are built of 4 blocks each with different shapes. The pieces can stack up until they reach the top of the board, in which case it means Game Over for the player. By completing one or more lines, the player’s score will be increased, and the completed lines will disappear, making all the blocks above the erased lines fall one line. The goal of the player is to keep playing for as long as possible by deleting lines and get the highest score

Forest Hydrology, Soil Conservation and Green Barriers in Canary Islands

In volcanic islands, the rainfall regime and its torrential nature, together with the steep slopes and the soil types present are considered to be some of the main factors affecting forest hydrology and soil conservation. In such environments, rain regime is generally irregular and characterized by short and intense rainfalls, which could cause destructive flows at times, followed by long periods of rain absence. The volcanic nature of these islands have as a direct resultant steep slopes which influences the runoff volume and speed, as well as the amount of topsoil susceptible to be detached and transported downstream. The soil type also affects the susceptibility to erosion processes. Andisols are the most typical soil on volcanic islands. Their particularities derive their mineral constituents, called short-range-order products, which provide these soils with an increased structural stability, which in turn reduces their susceptibility to erosion. However, the land use changes and the environmental factors such as rain regime and steep slopes may be determinant factor in destabilizing these soils and ultimately a cause for soil erosion and runoffs, which become a threat to the population downstream. Green barriers have been traditionally used to prevent or reduce these processes, also to enhance the dew effect and the fog water collection, and as a firebreak which acts as a barrier to slow or stop the progress of a wildfire. Wooded species present and subsequently their performance have a major influence on their effectiveness. The use of this natural erosion and fire control methods on volcanic islands is discussed in this paper

Replacement of cables of the cover archs carbon park in As Pontes (A Coruña)

Congreso celebrado en la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Sevilla desde el 24 hasta el 26 de junio de 2015.The work done by Acciona Engineering at the coal yard located in As Pontes, is included within the maintenance plan established by Endesa for the period 2010-2020. This consists of predictive, preventive and corrective actions on the cables of the roof structure, which ultimately will allow extending the useful life of the facilities of the power plant. Several pathologies were detected in numerous cables, and in particular, “cable 15 of arch ner15", suffered an advanced state of degradation with significant loss of its resistant section. This led to recommend its replacement, for which an engineering detail design project was carried out. Therefore, a structural model of the whole arch affected by the pathology was done to allow the analysis of the structural behaviour of the cover during the replacement of the cable. To achieve this goal, the model was performed by implementing a three-dimensional system of nodes and bars processed with GtStrudl structures software
