Concept of leak tightness monitoring at underground gas storage

    Get PDF
The most important part of the operation of each underground gas storage facility is the implementation of a regular monitoring system for leak tightness monitoring. This article deals with the design of a proposal leak tightness monitoring concept in underground gas storage in porous reservoirs (depleted gas/oil reservoirs, aquifer reservoirs). This concept interconnects all commonly used and established leak tightness monitoring methodologies and evaluates them in time with comparison with historical results with reference to possible solutions or implementation of remedial measure

    Duality, Quotients, and Currents

We study the generalization of R1/RR\to 1/R duality to arbitrary conformally invariant sigma models with an isometry. We show that any pair of dual sigma models can be represented as quotients of a self-dual sigma model obtained by gauging different combinations of chiral currents. This observation is used to clarify the interpretation of the generalized duality as a symmetry of conformal field theory. We extend these results to N=2N=2 supersymmetric sigma models.Comment: 20 page

The thesis is focused on observing the behaviour of the reservoir influenced by operation of underground gas storage facility. The first part provides a basic information about natural gas. The importace of gas storage facilities, its types, related parameters and working modes, as well as an overview of the UGS in the Czech Republic are presented. In more detail the thesis is devoted to UGS Dolní Bojanovice, whose formations are subject to investigation. The thesis also deals with cycling loading operation of UGS, the reservoir pressure including its possible changes and geomechanical response to operation. It also includes description of parameters like porosity and permeability, on which the changes in the influenced rock samples from UGS Dolní Bojanovice are studed. The methodology of this research is presented and based on that the individual rock samples are evaluated.541 - Institut geologického inženýrstvívýborn

Ways of increasing natural gas storage capacity in underground gas storages in the Czech Republic

    No full text
Natural gas fields are usually located far away from the end users and industrially developed countries, where the gas demand is highest. In such cases, natural gas is transported from the production site to the receiver mainly with gas pipelines. Such pipelines may transmit a definite volume of natural gas. Most of the time gas transport is stable in time, unless the demand changes, e.g. in winter or in the case of pipeline failure. In such a case the pipeline system cannot cover the increased demand and supply sufficient amounts of gas. One of the ways to solve the problem of varying demand and limited potential as far as gas transmission over long distances is concerned, are underground gas storages, thanks to which the operational gas deliveries can be regulated, i.e. it can be stored in periods of lower demand and used in the high demand situations. This safety buffer provides the stability and reliability of the entire natural gas distribution system. The methods of increasing the natural gas storage capacity of UGS were discussed in this paper with special emphasis on the primary and secondary tightness of geological structures hosting UGS. Authors also analyzed how laboratory tests conducted at VŠB-TU Ostrava can be broadened to verify the possibilities of increasing natural gas storing capacity, depending of the geological horizons and structures in which the UGS is located
