This study analyzes hospitality relations between the management of protected areas and the stakeholders involved, focusing on the influence they have on the competitiveness of destinations. The objects of study are three protected areas located in the northeast region of Brazil: Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, Jericoacoara National Park, and Delta do Parnaíba Environmental Protection Area. A multiple-case study was developed using qualitative and quantitative methods: semi-structured interviews, unsystematic observation, and survey. We verified a relationship of dependency between stakeholders, such as tour guides and travel agencies, and the management of these places, through the commitment to the rules provided for their accreditation as the basis of service provision. Hospitality relations between the host and stakeholders involved with tourism favor mutual trust by influencing directly both management conditions of the protected areas and perceptions of competitiveness of destinations. The results also show that hospitality relations affect positively visitors’ intention to return.

The impact of surgical delay on resectability of colorectal cancer: An international prospective cohort study

AIM: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has provided a unique opportunity to explore the impact of surgical delays on cancer resectability. This study aimed to compare resectability for colorectal cancer patients undergoing delayed versus non-delayed surgery. METHODS: This was an international prospective cohort study of consecutive colorectal cancer patients with a decision for curative surgery (January-April 2020). Surgical delay was defined as an operation taking place more than 4 weeks after treatment decision, in a patient who did not receive neoadjuvant therapy. A subgroup analysis explored the effects of delay in elective patients only. The impact of longer delays was explored in a sensitivity analysis. The primary outcome was complete resection, defined as curative resection with an R0 margin. RESULTS: Overall, 5453 patients from 304 hospitals in 47 countries were included, of whom 6.6% (358/5453) did not receive their planned operation. Of the 4304 operated patients without neoadjuvant therapy, 40.5% (1744/4304) were delayed beyond 4 weeks. Delayed patients were more likely to be older, men, more comorbid, have higher body mass index and have rectal cancer and early stage disease. Delayed patients had higher unadjusted rates of complete resection (93.7% vs. 91.9%, P = 0.032) and lower rates of emergency surgery (4.5% vs. 22.5%, P < 0.001). After adjustment, delay was not associated with a lower rate of complete resection (OR 1.18, 95% CI 0.90-1.55, P = 0.224), which was consistent in elective patients only (OR 0.94, 95% CI 0.69-1.27, P = 0.672). Longer delays were not associated with poorer outcomes. CONCLUSION: One in 15 colorectal cancer patients did not receive their planned operation during the first wave of COVID-19. Surgical delay did not appear to compromise resectability, raising the hypothesis that any reduction in long-term survival attributable to delays is likely to be due to micro-metastatic disease

The ongoing rhythm of contemporary societies provide, among different things, ascending movements such as sporting events. E-sports, like of them, stands out as a new configuration of games that exceed the borders of entertainment by presenting professional and sporting structures. This paper, which is focused on bibliographic and documentary sources, reflects on the flow of people caused by this phenomenon and its relation with tourism. Thus, the paper discusses ascending professional competitions of e-sports as sporting events and its role in tourism destinations, focusing on the case of the Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLoL).O ritmo acelerado e inconstante das sociedades contemporâneas proporcionam, entre outras coisas, movimentos ascendentes.

Embrittlement and Corrosion Decay of a Cast Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex stainless steels (DSS) are Fe-Cr-Ni-Mo alloys, with low carbon content, which have a favorable combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. These characteristics are mainly attributed to a dual phase and refined microstructure, typical of these alloys, consisting of similar amounts of ferrite and austenite. For this reason, DSS are widely used in various segments of industry, especially in offshore applications. However, DSS components may have a decrease of their properties when they are exposed high temperatures, often due to incorrect manufacturing processes. Intermetallic phases may precipitate causing embrittlement and corrosion resistance decrease. This work presents the effects of short time aging at 475 °C on the mechanical properties and localized corrosion resistance of a cast DSS. The results show that mechanical properties, such as toughness and hardness, are more susceptible to aging, having already been affected during the first 4 hours of heat treatment, while the corrosion was affected in 12 h of aging.
</div
