THE AGE, MASS, and SIZE DISTRIBUTIONS of STAR CLUSTERS in M51
We present a new catalog of 3816 compact star clusters in the grand design spiral galaxy M51 based on observations taken with the Hubble Space Telescope. The age distribution of the clusters declines starting at very young ages, and can be represented by a power law, , with . No significant changes in the shape of the age distribution at different masses is observed. The mass function of the clusters younger than can also be described by a power law, , with . We compare these distributions with the predictions from various cluster disruption models, and find that they are consistent with models where clusters disrupt approximately independent of their initial mass, but not with models where lower mass clusters are disrupted earlier than their higher mass counterparts. We find that the half-light radii of clusters more massive than and with ages between 100 and 400 are larger by a factor of ≈3-4 than their counterparts that are younger than 107 years old, suggesting that the clusters physically expand during their early life.R. Secular Evolution of Galaxy Morphologies
Today we have numerous evidences that spirals evolve dynamically through
various secular or episodic processes, such as bar formation and destruction,
bulge growth and mergers, sometimes over much shorter periods than the standard
galaxy age of 10-15 Gyr. This, coupled to the known properties of the Hubble
sequence, leads to a unique sense of evolution: from Sm to Sa. Linking this to
the known mass components provides new indications on the nature of dark matter
in galaxies. The existence of large amounts of yet undetected dark gas appears
as the most natural option. Bounds on the amount of dark stars can be given
since their formation is mostly irreversible and requires obviously a same

Secular evolution versus hierarchical merging: galaxy evolution along the Hubble sequence, in the field and rich environments
In the current galaxy formation scenarios, two physical phenomena are invoked
to build disk galaxies: hierarchical mergers and more quiescent external gas
accretion, coming from intergalactic filaments. Although both are thought to
play a role, their relative importance is not known precisely. Here we consider
the constraints on these scenarios brought by the observation-deduced star
formation history on the one hand, and observed dynamics of galaxies on the
other hand: the high frequency of bars and spirals, the high frequency of
perturbations such as lopsidedness, warps, or polar rings.
All these observations are not easily reproduced in simulations without
important gas accretion. N-body simulations taking into account the mass
exchange between stars and gas through star formation and feedback, can
reproduce the data, only if galaxies double their mass in about 10 Gyr through
gas accretion. Warped and polar ring systems are good tracers of this
accretion, which occurs from cold gas which has not been virialised in the
system's potential. The relative importance of these phenomena are compared
between the field and rich clusters. The respective role of mergers and gas

Help-seeking behaviors for female sexual dysfunction: a cross sectional study from Iran
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Female sexual dysfunctions (FSD) are prevalent multifactor problems that in general remain misdiagnosed in primary health care. This population-based study investigated help-seeking behaviors among women with FSD in Iran.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>This was a cross sectional study carried out in Kohgilouyeh-Boyer-Ahmad province in Iran. Using quota sampling all sexually active women aged 15 and over registered in primary health care delivery centers were studied. Experience of sexual problems was assessed using an ad-hoc questionnaire (Female sexual dysfunction: help-seeking behaviors survey) containing 14 items. Trained female nurses interviewed all participants after a verbal informed consent. Data were analyzed in a descriptive manner.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>In all 1540 women were studied. Of these, 786 (51%) cases had experienced at least one of the FSD problems. Results showed that 35.8% of women with FSD had sought no professional help and the most reasons for not seeking help were identified as: 'time constraints' and believing that it 'did not occur to me' (39.1 and 28.5% respectively). Sixty one percent of women who sought help for FSD reported that 'doctor gave me a definite diagnosis' and 'a definite treatment plan was given' in 57% of cases.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The study findings indicated that FSD problems were prevalent and many women did not seek help for their problem. Finding 'time constraints' and believing that the problem 'did not occur to me' as the most cited reasons for not seeking help might facilitate to understand potential barriers that exist in recognition and treatment of the female sexual dysfunctions. Since FSD might have a negative impact on interpersonal relationships and women's quality of life, it seems that there is need to address the problem both at local and national primary health care services.</p
Transthyretin Aggregation Pathway toward the Formation of Distinct Cytotoxic Oligomers
Characterization of small oligomers formed at an early stage of amyloid formation is critical to
understanding molecular mechanism of pathogenic aggregation process. Here we identifed and
characterized cytotoxic oligomeric intermediates populated during transthyretin (TTR) aggregation
process. Under the amyloid-forming conditions, TTR initially forms a dimer through interactions
between outer strands. The dimers are then associated to form a hexamer with a spherical shape, which
serves as a building block to self-assemble into cytotoxic oligomers. Notably, wild-type (WT) TTR tends
to form linear oligomers, while aTTR variant(G53A) prefers forming annular oligomers with pore-like
structures. Structural analyses of the amyloidogenic intermediates using circular dichroism (CD) and
solid-state NMR revealthatthe dimer and oligomers have a signifcant degree of native-like β-sheet
structures (35–38%), but with more disordered regions (~60%)than those of nativeTTR.TheTTR variant
oligomers are also less structured than WT oligomers. The partially folded nature of the oligomeric
intermediates might be a common structural property of cytotoxic oligomers.The higher fexibility of
the dimer and oligomers may also compensate for the entropic loss due to the oligomerization of the
monomers

Sustainable development goal 2: improved targets and indicators for agriculture and food security
The pursuit of global food security and agricultural sustainability, the dual aim of the
second Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-2), requires urgent and concerted action
from developing and developed countries. This, in turn, depends on clear and
universally applicable targets and indicators which are partially lacking. The novel and
complex nature of the SDGs poses further challenges to their implementation on the
ground, especially in the face of interlinkages across SDG objectives and scales. Here
we review the existing SDG-2 indicators, propose improvements to facilitate their
operationalization and illustrate their practical implementation in Nigeria, Brazil and the
Netherlands. This exercise provides insights into the concrete actions needed to
achieve SDG-2 across contrasting development contexts and highlights the challenges
of addressing the links between targets and indicators within and beyond SDG-2.
Ultimately, it underscores the need for integrated policies and reveals opportunities to
leverage the fulfillment of SDG-2 worldwide
The Brightest Young Star Clusters in NGC 5253

Accepted for publication in the Astrophysical JournalThe nearby dwarf starburst galaxy NGC5253 hosts a number of young, massive star clusters, the two youngest of which are centrally concentrated and surrounded by thermal radio emission (the `radio nebula'). To investigate the role of these clusters in the starburst energetics, we combine new and archival Hubble Space Telescope images of NGC5253 with wavelength coverage from 1500 Ang to 1.9 micron in 13 filters. These include H-alpha, P-beta, and P-alpha, and the imaging from the Hubble Treasury Program LEGUS (Legacy Extragalactic UV Survey). The extraordinarily well-sampled spectral energy distributions enable modeling with unprecedented accuracy the ages, masses, and extinctions of the 9 optically brightest clusters (M_V < -8.8) and the two young radio nebula clusters. The clusters have ages ~1-15 Myr and masses ~1x10^4 - 2.5x10^5 M_sun. The clusters' spatial location and ages indicate that star formation has become more concentrated towards the radio nebula over the last ~15 Myr. The most massive cluster is in the radio nebula; with a mass 2.5x10^5 M_sun and an age ~1 Myr, it is 2-4 times less massive and younger than previously estimated. It is within a dust cloud with A_V~50 mag, and shows a clear nearIR excess, likely from hot dust. The second radio nebula cluster is also ~1 Myr old, confirming the extreme youth of the starburst region. These two clusters account for about half of the ionizing photon rate in the radio nebula, and will eventually supply about 2/3 of the mechanical energy in present-day shocks. Search for a New Heavy Gauge Boson Wprime with Electron + missing ET Event Signature in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV
We present a search for a new heavy charged vector boson decaying
to an electron-neutrino pair in collisions at a center-of-mass
energy of 1.96\unit{TeV}. The data were collected with the CDF II detector
and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 5.3\unit{fb}^{-1}. No
significant excess above the standard model expectation is observed and we set
upper limits on . Assuming standard
model couplings to fermions and the neutrino from the boson decay to
be light, we exclude a boson with mass less than

Measurement of the Forward-Backward Asymmetry in the B -> K(*) mu+ mu- Decay and First Observation of the Bs -> phi mu+ mu- Decay
We reconstruct the rare decays , , and in a data sample
corresponding to collected in collisions at
by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron
Collider. Using and decays we report the branching ratios. In addition, we report
the measurement of the differential branching ratio and the muon
forward-backward asymmetry in the and decay modes, and the
longitudinal polarization in the decay mode with respect to the squared
dimuon mass. These are consistent with the theoretical prediction from the
standard model, and most recent determinations from other experiments and of
comparable accuracy. We also report the first observation of the {\mathcal{B}}(B^0_s \to
\phi\mu^+\mu^-) = [1.44 \pm 0.33 \pm 0.46] \times 10^{-6}27 \pm 6B^0_s$ decay observed.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, 3 tables. Submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
Measurements of the properties of Lambda_c(2595), Lambda_c(2625), Sigma_c(2455), and Sigma_c(2520) baryons
We report measurements of the resonance properties of Lambda_c(2595)+ and
Lambda_c(2625)+ baryons in their decays to Lambda_c+ pi+ pi- as well as
Sigma_c(2455)++,0 and Sigma_c(2520)++,0 baryons in their decays to Lambda_c+
pi+/- final states. These measurements are performed using data corresponding
to 5.2/fb of integrated luminosity from ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV,
collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. Exploiting the
largest available charmed baryon sample, we measure masses and decay widths
with uncertainties comparable to the world averages for Sigma_c states, and
significantly smaller uncertainties than the world averages for excited
