Intrinsic decoherence and classical-quantum correspondence in two coupled delta-kicked rotors
We show that classical-quantum correspondence of center of mass motion in two
coupled delta-kicked rotors can be obtained from intrinsic decoherence of the
system itself which occurs due to the entanglement of the center of mass motion
to the internal degree of freedom without coupling to external environment
The Use of the Cancellation Technique to Quantify the Hermann Grid Illusion
When observers view a grid of mid-gray lines superimposed on a black background, they report seeing illusory dark gray smudges at the grid intersections, an effect known as the Hermann grid illusion. The strength of the illusion is often measured using the cancellation technique: A white disk is placed over one of these intersections and the luminance of the disk is reduced until the disk disappears. Its luminance at this point, i.e., the disk's detection threshold, is taken to be a measure of the strength of the illusion. Our experiments showed that some distortions of the Hermann grid, which were sufficient to completely disrupt the illusion, did not reduce the disk's detection threshold. This showed that the cancellation technique is not a valid method for measuring the strength of the Hermann grid illusion. Those studies that attempted to use this technique inadvertently studied a different effect known as the blanking phenomenon. We conclude by presenting an explanation for the latter effect
The Landau Pole and decays in the 331 bilepton model
We calculate the decay widths and branching ratios of the extra neutral boson
predicted by the 331 bilepton model in the framework of two
different particle contents. These calculations are performed taken into
account oblique radiative corrections, and Flavor Changing Neutral Currents
(FCNC) under the ansatz of Matsuda as a texture for the quark mass matrices.
Contributions of the order of are obtained in the branching
ratios, and partial widths about one order of magnitude bigger in relation with
other non- and bilepton models are also obtained. A Landau-like pole arise at
3.5 TeV considering the full particle content of the minimal model (MM), where
the exotic sector is considered as a degenerated spectrum at 3 TeV scale. The
Landau pole problem can be avoid at the TeV scales if a new leptonic content
running below the threshold at TeV is implemented as suggested by other

Design Considerations for Remote High-Speed Pressure Measurements of Dynamic Combustion Phenomena
As gas turbine combustion systems evolve to achieve ultra-low emission targets, monitoring and controlling dynamic combustion processes becomes increasingly important. These dynamic processes may include flame extinction, combustion-driven instabilities, or other dynamic combustion phenomena. Pressure sensors can be incorporated into the combustor liner design, but this approach is complicated by the harsh operating environment. One practical solution involves locating the sensor in a more remote location, such as outside the pressure casing. The sensor can be connected to the measurement point by small diameter tubing. Although this is a practical approach, the dynamics of the tubing can introduce significant errors into the pressure measurement. This paper addresses measurement errors associated with semi-infinite coil remote sensing setups and proposes an approach to improve the accuracy of these types of measurements
Driving a motor vehicle and psychogenic nonepileptic seizures: ILAE Report by the Task Force on Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures
Objectives
This International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) Report: (a) summarizes the literature about âdriving and psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES)â; (b) presents the views of international experts; and (c) proposes an approach to assessing the ability of persons with PNES (PwPNES) to drive.
Methods
Phase 1: Systematic literature review. Phase 2: Collection of international expert opinion using SurveyMonkeyÂź. Experts included the members of the ILAE PNES Task Force and individuals with relevant publications since 2000. Phase 3: Joint analysis of the findings and refinement of conclusions by all participants using email. As an ILAE Report, the resulting text was reviewed by the Psychiatry Commission, the ILAE Task Force on Driving Guidelines, and Executive Committee.
Results
Eight studies identified by the systematic review process failed to provide a firm evidence base for PNESârelated driving regulations, but suggest that most health professionals think restrictions are appropriate. Twentyâsix experts responded to the survey. Most held the view that decisions about driving privileges should consider individual patient and PNES characteristics and take account of whether permits are sought for private or commercial driving. Most felt that those with active PNES should not be allowed to drive unless certain criteria were met and that PNES should be thought of as âactiveâ if the last psychogenic seizure had occurred within 6 months.
Significance
Recommendations on whether PwPNES can drive should be made at the individual patient level. Until future research has determined the risk of accidents in PwPNES a proposed algorithm may guide decisions about driving advice
The role of evidence-based guidelines in the diagnosis and treatment of functional neurological disorder
Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, based on systematic reviews of existing evidence, play an important role in improving and standardizing the quality of patient care in many medical and psychiatric disorders, and could play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of functional seizures and other functional neurological disorder (FND) subtypes. There are several reasons to think that evidence-based guidelines might be especially beneficial for the management of FND. In particular, the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teamwork necessary for the care of people with FND, the current lack of formal clinical training in FND, and the rapidly expanding body of evidence relating to FND all make guidelines based on systematic literature reviews especially valuable. In this perspective piece, we review clinical practice guidelines, their advantages and limitations, the reasons why evidence-based guidelines might be especially beneficial in the diagnosis and treatment of FND, and the steps that must be taken to create such guidelines for FND. We propose that professional organizations such as the American Academy of Neurology and the American Psychiatric Association undertake guideline development, ideally to create a co-authored or jointly endorsed set of guidelines that can set standards for interdisciplinary care for neurologists and mental health clinicians alike
OqxAB, a quinolone and olaquindox efflux pump, is widely distributed among multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates of human origin
Use of antibiotics among livestock contributes to the selection and dissemination of multidrug resistant (MDR) bacteria. Olaquindox and carbadox are quinoxaline derivatives with antibacterial properties that prevent dysentery and enhance weight gain in suckling pigs. Resistance to quinoxalines is mediated by the efflux pump OqxAB, which also extrudes antibiotics such as chloramphenicol and fluoroquinolones. The gene encoding this efflux pump, oqxAB, was initially detected within plasmid pOLA52, which was found in Escherichia coli isolated from swine manure. Dissemination of oqxAB has been noted in Salmonella species, and the original genetic reservoir of oqxAB was traced to the chromosome of Klebsiella pneumoniae. Surprisingly, OqxAB has been reported only in clinical isolates of K. pneumoniae from China, South Korea, and Spain
Planck 2015 results. XXVII. The Second Planck Catalogue of Sunyaev-Zeldovich Sources
We present the all-sky Planck catalogue of Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) sources detected from the 29 month full-mission data. The catalogue (PSZ2) is the largest SZ-selected sample of galaxy clusters yet produced and the deepest all-sky catalogue of galaxy clusters. It contains 1653 detections, of which 1203 are confirmed clusters with identified counterparts in external data-sets, and is the first SZ-selected cluster survey containing > confirmed clusters. We present a detailed analysis of the survey selection function in terms of its completeness and statistical reliability, placing a lower limit of 83% on the purity. Using simulations, we find that the Y5R500 estimates are robust to pressure-profile variation and beam systematics, but accurate conversion to Y500 requires. the use of prior information on the cluster extent. We describe the multi-wavelength search for counterparts in ancillary data, which makes use of radio, microwave, infra-red, optical and X-ray data-sets, and which places emphasis on the robustness of the counterpart match. We discuss the physical properties of the new sample and identify a population of low-redshift X-ray under- luminous clusters revealed by SZ selection. These objects appear in optical and SZ surveys with consistent properties for their mass, but are almost absent from ROSAT X-ray selected samples
Measurement of the branching fraction
The branching fraction is measured in a data sample
