- Patients after general anesthesia should not report memories of surgery. Even though during balanced and adequate anesthesia the information processing of high level functions, such as language comprehension and learning should continue unconsciously. The objective is to assess whether different anesthetic techniques (two inhalational and one intravenous) guarantee the abscense 0f consciousness and an excellent quality of post anesthetic recovery. Study the awakening in related in time terms. Study the anesthetic relation about the age, the cardiac frequency, operates time and the Asa. Methodology Material We had three constituted research groups. One each anesthetic procedure convenience azar form: Group 1 Isofluorane/Fentanyl. Group 2 Sevofluorane/Fentanyl. Group 3 Propofol/Fentanyl (AIVT). Method We assessed the Test memory, explicit and implicit, in a structured interview nonverbal order, obeyed and the time of the interview before and after anesthesia. Perception, time awareness, space and physical abilities were also assessed. Results Consciousness was absent in all patients of the three research groups in 100%. The time of the waking up was in the following order Propofol, Sevofluorane and the last Isofluorane. Conclusion Consciousness was absent in all patients of the three research groups in 100%.Tesi

In the field of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), the interoperability is seen as a problem associated with the formalization of the geographic concepts in the digital systems, facing semantic problems derivatives of the use of different models of data. Thus, one of the main features of the next generation of GIS will be to share information from different sources. For this, is necessary to incorporate to the GIS the philosophy of open systems. Otherwise, nowadays is widely accepted that the hypermedia functionalities can to play a very important role as underlying component (linking/relationship) in an information system. Systems as the WWW (World Wide Web) have illustrated as the global access to the information is crucial. For many, the WWW was the way through which was introduced the concept of Open Hypermedia Systems (OHS), demonstrating its potential to supply a paradigm integrated and unified of organization of the information.. Thus, leading in consideration the problem of interoperability and integration of GIS, and the features and functionalities offered for the Open Hypermedia Systems, in this paper is to present OHGIS (Open Hypermedia Geographical Information System), an alternative architecture for GIS, using the OHS filosofy as central paradigm for the definition of this architecture. An ubiquitous computation environment has as presupposed that the computation is in all equipment and devices, and these are interacting between itself and with the people. The connection between objects and human beings is instantaneous, when these enter in the ubiquitous environment. A communication protocol to make the linking between many devices, of many manufacturers, in this environment, will be the key so that this connectivity happens. In the industrial automation, the protocol RS 485, is very used. Although some similarities in the intentions, the residential automation has different concepts from the industrial. The protocol I2C, of the wire technology, developed by Philips, appears as option for the residential automation. Protocols of wireless technology, as bluetooth and zigbee, because of its characteristic of covering, are presented as complement for this automation. This article aims to present a vision about the necessary characteristics of the communication protocols for a ubiquitous computation environment in the residential automation. In it will be described the studies, development and implantation of devices of residential automation that occurs in the QualiHouse Residential Automation, incubated company in the Trilha, pre-incubator of the Faculdade Integrada do Recife - FIR.Facultad de Informátic

Clonal chromosomal mosaicism and loss of chromosome Y in elderly men increase vulnerability for SARS-CoV-2

The pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19) had an estimated overall case fatality ratio of 1.38% (pre-vaccination), being 53% higher in males and increasing exponentially with age. Among 9578 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 in the SCOURGE study, we found 133 cases (1.42%) with detectable clonal mosaicism for chromosome alterations (mCA) and 226 males (5.08%) with acquired loss of chromosome Y (LOY). Individuals with clonal mosaic events (mCA and/or LOY) showed a 54% increase in the risk of COVID-19 lethality. LOY is associated with transcriptomic biomarkers of immune dysfunction, pro-coagulation activity and cardiovascular risk. Interferon-induced genes involved in the initial immune response to SARS-CoV-2 are also down-regulated in LOY. Thus, mCA and LOY underlie at least part of the sex-biased severity and mortality of COVID-19 in aging patients. Given its potential therapeutic and prognostic relevance, evaluation of clonal mosaicism should be implemented as biomarker of COVID-19 severity in elderly people. Among 9578 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 in the SCOURGE study, individuals with clonal mosaic events (clonal mosaicism for chromosome alterations and/or loss of chromosome Y) showed an increased risk of COVID-19 lethality

The question whether taxonomic descriptions naming new animal species without type specimen(s) deposited in collections should be accepted for publication by scientific journals and allowed by the Code has already been discussed in Zootaxa (Dubois & Nemésio 2007; Donegan 2008, 2009; Nemésio 2009a–b; Dubois 2009; Gentile & Snell 2009; Minelli 2009; Cianferoni & Bartolozzi 2016; Amorim et al. 2016). This question was again raised in a letter supported by 35 signatories published in the journal Nature (Pape et al. 2016) on 15 September 2016. On 25 September 2016, the following rebuttal (strictly limited to 300 words as per the editorial rules of Nature) was submitted to Nature, which on 18 October 2016 refused to publish it. As we think this problem is a very important one for zoological taxonomy, this text is published here exactly as submitted to Nature, followed by the list of the 493 taxonomists and collection-based researchers who signed it in the short time span from 20 September to 6 October 2016
