Group 4 metallocene complexes with non-bridged and tetramethyldisiloxane-bridged methyl-phenyl-cyclopentadienyl ligands: synthesis, characterization and olefin polymerization studies
The non-vicinal methyl-phenyl-substituted zirconocene dichlorides meso-and rac-[Zr{η5-(1-Ph-3-Me-C5H3)}2Cl2] and [Zr(η5-C5H5){η5-(1-Ph-3-Me-C5H3)}Cl2] have been isolated by transmetallation of the lithium salt Li(1-Ph-3-Me-C5H3) to ZrCl4(THF)2 and [Zr(η5-C5H5)Cl3 · DME] (DME = dimethoxyethane), respectively. Similar transmetallation of the lithium salt Li2[(Me-Ph-C5H2SiMe2)2O] to MCl4 gave the ansa-metallocenes [M{η5-(Me-Ph-C5H2SiMe2)2O}Cl2] (M = Zr, Hf) for which the meso- and rac-diastereomers were separated. The dimethyl and dibenzyl derivatives of these metallocenes were also prepared and the structure of all of these compounds determined by NMR spectroscopy. The molecular structure of rac-[Zr{η5-(2-Me-4-Ph-C5H2SiMe2)2O}Cl2] was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The activity of the dichlorometallocenes/MAO catalysts for ethene and propene polymerization was evaluated.
ANSYS.The aim of this thesis is to analyse the instability phenomenon in steel built-up compression columns,
through the calculation of the buckling loads of various examples of built-up members, that will be
obtained with an analytical method, using the official Spanish Regulation, and a numerical method,
with a Finite Element Method code. Some geometric parameters of the examples will change in order
to study the behaviour of the columns, like the distance in between chords or in between the lacing
points, as well as analysing columns with 2, 3 or 4 chords. Also, it has been considered the influence of
an initial imperfection. To obtain these buckling loads two commercial software will be used, one for
calculation only, which will be Matlab, and the other one to carry out the Finite Element Analysis,
which will be Ansys.Universidad de Sevilla. Grado en Ingeniería Civi
Probioticos: potencial para prevenir y curar
The History of probiotics soars to ancient times, when there wasn´t even a term to name several nourishments which had beneficial, almost curative effects on the organism. Nowadays, microorganisms whose effects are preventive of some pathologies or which decrease the damage caused by some illnesses are called “probiotics”. Probiotic microorganisms must verify certain specific characteristics such as innocuity, stability, real efficacy, easy administration, digestive tropism or colonization capacity, power to constitute a barrier against infections and improvement of immune usefulness. They are usually consumed preventively since they work by improving the nourish process and producing essential vitamins. However, its real reach is based on specific clinical practice, such as the treatment of digestive, genitourinary or immune pathologies. They even try to palliate the effects of cance
Improving enantiomeric resolutions by avoiding peak distortion effects in on-line coupled liquid chromatography to gas chromatography
In this work, we study the effect of different variables affecting elution profile distortion on the enantiomeric resolution eventually achievable when working with on-line coupled liquid chromatography to gas chromatography (LC-GC). Specifically, the proposed configuration combines achiral reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC) and chiral gas chromatography (enantio-GC), with heptakis-(2,3,6-tri-O-methyl)-beta-cyclodextrin as enantioselective stationary phase to analyse target fractions transferred (from LC to GC) via the through oven transfer adsorption desorption (TOTAD) interface. The high degree of orthogonality resulting from the combination of two chromatographic columns having very different separation mechanisms (and also requiring mobile phases in distinct physical states), as well as integration of the sample preparation step in the first dimension of the system, significantly contributed to exploit the performance of the proposed two-dimensional approach. Occasional adverse effects, which may result in severe peak distortions during LC-GC analysis and could be explained by flow instabilities due to viscous fingering, are circumvented by using the outstanding capacity of the TOTAD interface for achieving effective elimination of the eluent arriving from the LC preseparation.Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Grant/Award Numbers: IPT‐010000‐2010‐017 and DEP2012‐3522
Driving institutional change: challenge based learning for the University of the 21st Century
[EN] The main challenge faced by higher education is overcoming the gap between university education and the demands of society and the professional world. This gap cannot be accounted for merely in terms of a shortcoming in the relationship between the competencies of academic programmes and the real training needs of lifelong learners, but also involves the mismatch between the design of training models and students' expectations. The UOC has launched the PLA-Niu project in response to this problem. It aims to transform the subjects in the University's programmes into activities designed strictly based on competencies which are aimed at resolving challenges inspired by the professional sphere; to implement a new means of selecting, designing and managing learning resources based on content curation for learning, organising it into specific aggregators for each activity; and to provide a system that enables the production and organisation of training in an agile, flexible and personalisable manner. In this paper, we set out the experience of applying the PLA-Niu in the University as a whole, and present its characteristics, explain the strategies and measures involved in its implementation, and share the reflections of those involved from a critical perspective.Mas, X.; Pastor, L.; Merino, M.; González, L.; Martínez-Aceituno, T. Ciudad Blanca, a modern proposal in 1960s tourism
In 1960 Juan Huarte invited Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oíza to visit the sites in Alcúdia, Mallorca where he
intended to promote a new city for tourism. The result of that ambitious urban design project, produced by the
Navarrese architect and by a recently licensed Juan Daniel Fullaondo, was ultimately reflected in one of their most
important architectural contributions to the architecture of tourism: Ciudad Blanca (White City).
If the role of the architect is important in the telling of this episode, the role of Juan Huarte is no less important as a
promoter of the idea and as director of the real estate company Huarte Inmobiliaria S.A. and director of the Huarte
construction firm (developer and contractor for the Ciudad Blanca project). The relationship between both
protagonists and tourism in Mallorca continued with the construction of a hotel and the expansion of Juan Huarte’s
house on Formentor Bay.Peer Reviewe
