    Object identification by using orthonormal circus functions from the trace transform

    Get PDF
    In this paper we present an efficient way to both compute and extract salient information from trace transform signatures to perform object identification tasks. We also present a feature selection analysis of the classical trace-transform functionals, which reveals that most of them retrieve redundant information causing misleading similarity measurements. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a set of functionals based on Laguerre polynomials that return orthonormal signatures between these functionals. In this way, each signature provides salient and non-correlated information that contributes to the description of an image object. The proposed functionals were tested considering a vehicle identification problem, outperforming the classical trace transform functionals in terms of computational complexity and identification rate

    La presente investigación se tituló “Valor público por la emisión del pasaporte en la oficina de emergencia del puesto de control migratorio- Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez, 2022”, el objetivo general en esta investigación fue determinar el valor público que los usuarios indican por emisión del pasaporte. La metodología que se desarrolló en la siguiente investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo con diseño no experimental de corte transaccional, tomándose como muestra a 381 usuarios de las oficinas de emergencia del puesto de control migratorio. Los resultados de las encuestas indicaron que el 60.89% de los usuarios se encuentra en desacuerdo respecto a si el nivel de servicio en la emisión del pasaporte es de calidad, adicional a ello los usuarios consideraron que las acciones realizadas por la oficina de emergencia no son las adecuadas. Finalmente se determinó que los puntos en relación servicios, impactos y confianza por mejorar, tuvieron una valoración media respecto a la hipótesis planteada, por lo que se rechazó la hipótesis nula y alterna en la investigación, surgiendo una nueva hipótesis de valoración media

    beta(2 -> 1) chicory and beta(2 -> 1)-beta(2 -> 6) agave fructans protect the human intestinal barrier function in vitro in a stressor-dependent fashion

    Dietary fibers such as fructans can protect the intestinal epithelial barrier integrity, but the mechanisms underlying this protection are not completely understood. We aimed to study the protective effect of β(2→1)-β(2→6) branched graminan-type fructans (GTFs) on gut epithelial barrier function that was disrupted by three different agents which impact the barrier function via different cellular mechanisms. The effects of GTFs were compared with those of linear β(2→1) inulin-type fructans (ITFs). T84 intestinal epithelial monolayers were incubated with GTFs and ITFs. Afterwards, the monolayers were challenged with the barrier disruptors calcium ionophore A23187, 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and deoxynivalenol (DON). Transepithelial resistance was measured with an electric cell-substrate impedance sensing system. All fructans studied prevented the barrier disruption induced by A23187. ITF II protected from the disruptive effects of PMA. However, none of the studied fructans influenced the disruption induced by DON. As a measure of disruption-induced inflammation, interleukin-8 (IL-8) production by the intestinal epithelium was determined by ELISA. The production of IL-8 induced by A23187 was decreased by all fructans, whereas IL-8 production induced by DON decreased only upon pre-treatment with ITF II. None of the studied fructans prevented PMA induced IL-8 production. GTFs just like ITFs can influence the barrier function and inflammatory processes in gut epithelial cells in a structure-dependent fashion. These distinct protective effects are dependent on the different signaling pathways that lead to gut barrier disruption

    Precipitation Process in Fe-Ni-Al-based Alloys

    Get PDF
    This chapter covers first the precipitation and coarsening processes in Fe-Ni-Al alloys aged artificially at high temperatures, as well as their effect on the mechanical properties. These results show the precipitation evolution, morphology of precipitates, coarsening kinetics and mechanical properties such as hardness. Additionally, the effect of alloying elements such as copper and chromium is also studied on the precipitation and coarsening processes. The main results of this section are concerning on the coarsening kinetics and its effect on hardness. Besides, the diffusion couple method is employed to study the precipitation and coarsening process in different Fe-Ni-Al alloy compositions, as well as its effect on the hardness. All the above aspects of precipitation and coarsening are also supported with Thermo-Calc calculations

    The Jacobi matrices approach to Nevanlinna-Pick problems

    Get PDF
    A modification of the well-known step-by-step process for solving Nevanlinna-Pick problems in the class of \bR_0-functions gives rise to a linear pencil HλJH-\lambda J, where HH and JJ are Hermitian tridiagonal matrices. First, we show that JJ is a positive operator. Then it is proved that the corresponding Nevanlinna-Pick problem has a unique solution iff the densely defined symmetric operator J1/2HJ1/2J^{-1/2}HJ^{-1/2} is self-adjoint and some criteria for this operator to be self-adjoint are presented. Finally, by means of the operator technique, we obtain that multipoint diagonal Pad\'e approximants to a unique solution φ\varphi of the Nevanlinna-Pick problem converge to φ\varphi locally uniformly in \dC\setminus\dR. The proposed scheme extends the classical Jacobi matrix approach to moment problems and Pad\'e approximation for \bR_0-functions.Comment: 24 pages; Section 5 is modifed; some typos are correcte
