Téměř polovina odebraných lymfatických uzlin však nebyla...Study of metastatic processes and response to chemotherapy in primary cultures obtained from colorectal carcinoma and lymph node metastases Colorectal carcinoma is one of the most common malignant diseases in the Czech Republic. Despite an implementation of primary population screening to detect premalignant lesions, the incidence and the mortality of the disease do not appear to decrease significantly. A significant percentage of patients still manifest with late (metastatic) stage of the disease. Isolation of primary cell cultures of colorectal carcinoma is a method in which a large number of tumour cells is obtained relatively rapidly under "in vitro" conditions. With a low number of passages the cells can retain most of the characteristics of the original cells "in vivo". Therefore, cell cultures are an ideal model for studying the efficacy of chemotherapeutics and chemoresistance, as well as markers involved in carcinogenesis and metastasis of colorectal carcinoma. Overall, samples from 60 patients with colon adenocarcinoma were obtained. Our intention was to take one sample from the primary tumour and another sample from the lymph node from each patient. From the primary tumours we successfully obtained 26 primocultures with a success rate of 45 % (26/58); from the collected lymph nodes we...Fingerlandův ústav patologieThe Fingerland Department of PathologyLékařská fakulta v Hradci KrálovéFaculty of Medicine in Hradec Králov

A Physical Calibrator for Partial Discharge Meters

    Get PDF
This article offers an alternative method of calibrating partial discharge meters for research and teaching purposes. Most current modern calibrators are implemented as precise voltage pulse sources with a coupling capacitor. However, our calibrator is based on the physical principles of dielectric materials distributed in a plane or space. Calibrator design is unique and there is an attempt to get closer to the behavior of the measured real objects. The calibration impulses are created by energy from a high voltage power supply at the specific or nominal value of the applied voltage. At the same time, it is possible to simulate the value and quantity of the discharges and their position in the object relative to the input electrodes. The calibrator creates conditions as a real measured object with adjustable parameters. This paper describes a design of this type of calibrator, its implementation, numerical simulation of discharge values and laboratory measurements with functional verification using the Tettex 9520 calibrator and galvanic measured system DDX 7000/8003 and DDX 9121b. All measurements are carried out using the CVVOZEPowerLab Research Infrastructure equipment

ALD growth of MoS2 nanosheets on TiO2 nanotube supports

Two-dimensional MoS2 nanostructures are highly interesting and effective in a number of energy-related applications. In this work, the synthesis of ultra-thin MoS2 nanosheets produced by the thermal Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) process is reported for the first time using a previously unpublished set of precursors, namely bis(t-butylimido)bis(dimethylamino)molybdenum and hydrogen sulfide. These nanosheets are homogenously deposited within one-dimensional anodic TiO2 nanotube layers that act as a high surface area conductive support for the MoS2 nanosheets. The decoration of high aspect ratio TiO2 nanotube layers with MoS2 nanosheets over the entire nanotube layer thickness is shown for the first time. The homogeneous distribution of the MoS2 nanosheets is proved by STEM/EDX. This resulting new composite is employed as anode for Li-ion microbatteries. The MoS2-decorated TiO2 nanotube layers show a superior performance compared to their counterparts without MoS2. Compared to electrochemical performance of pristine TiO2 nanotube, a more than 50% higher areal capacity and a coulombic efficiency of 98% are obtained on the MoS2 decorated TiO2 nanotube layers, demonstrating clear synergic benefits of the new composite structure

Electronic phase‐change memory devices take advantage of the different resistivity of two states, amorphous and crystalline, and the swift transitions between them in active phase‐change materials (PCMs). In addition to these two distinct phases, multiple resistive states can be obtained by tuning the atomic disorder in the crystalline phase with heat treatment, because the disorder can lead to the localization of the electronic states and, thus, hamper the electron transport. The goal of this work is to achieve and explore multiple disordered configurations in PCMs by applying high pressure. Large‐scale ab initio molecular dynamics simulations demonstrate that pressure can lower the energy barrier for the antisite migration in crystalline PCMs. The accumulation of these antisite atoms largely increases the compositional disorder, adding localized electronic states near the conduction band. The disorder‐induced electron localization triggered by pressure is a novel way to modulate the properties of materials. Furthermore, the random distortion of the lattice induced by the compositional disorder provides a new mechanism that contributes to the amorphization of crystalline PCMs at high pressure

2D MoTe2 nanosheets by atomic layer deposition: Excellent photo-electrocatalytic properties

Herein, the synthesis of MoTe2 nanosheets by means of Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) is demonstrated for the first time. ALD enables tight control over the thickness and the composition of the deposited material, which are highly appealing features for the nanostructure fabrication. The growth of ALD MoTe2 was studied on substrates of different nature, including TiO2 nanotube (TNT) layers used as active supporting material for fabricating hierarchical nanotubular MoTe2/TNT heterostructure. The combination of newly synthesized Te precursor with commercial Mo precursor rendered the growth of 2D flaky MoTe2 nanosheets mostly out-of-plane oriented. The as-deposited MoTe2 was extensively characterized by different techniques which confirmed its chemical composition and revealed 2D flaky nano-crystalline structures. In parallel, MoTe2/TNT layers were employed to explore and exploit both photoand electrocatalytic properties. The synergy stemming from the out-of-plane MoTe2 nanosheet orientation, with an optimized amount of catalytic active edges, and the fast electron transfer through 1D TiO2 nanotubes triggered the catalytic properties for both, organic pollutant degradation and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) applications. Remarkably, the application of a cathodic potential originated a gradual HER electrochemical activation over time driving to a higher current density and an overpotential drop. (c) 2021 The Authors.
