Tal vem obrigar à consideração do ruído
The noise produced by road traffic is the first cause of acoustic pollution an urban environment. In Portugal as
well as in most of the European Union countries, this problem is regulated through the publication of specific
legislation. These regulations require the consideration of the outdoor noise levels in the planning process,
namely in the elaboration of zoning plans. The calculation of the noise levels is carried out using simulation
models which, based on traffic data and site physical characteristics, allow the evaluation of scenarios and the
quantification of such levels in a continuous space. In this paper a noise simulation model is applied to an urban
recreation park. Acoustic maps are calculated for present and future traffic scenarios, and a mitigation solution is
developed for the noise levels generated
THE ENERGETIC PERFORMANCE OF OLD BUILDINGS: HOW TO IMPROVE IT?
Along the years, in Portugal, the built environment was left behind and the straights were devoted for new buildings, creating new urban areas sometimes unattached from the existing city. The construction before the 80’s is compromised by its thermal quality if we consider that the thermal codes and the worry about thermal buildings behavior only came up around 90’s. In this work, the buildings from old city centers and its characteristics were studied as well as some intervention actions accurate for this construction and its results in terms of thermal performance. For this study a simulation tool was used, namely the Design Builder, and the results of these simulations were presented in order to understand the improvement in its thermal behavior when compared with its original conditions. It is possible to improve considerably the interior comfort and buildings thermal behavior with respect by architectonic characteristics and keeping constructive solutions and material with interventions actions that are compatible with existing structures
A SDSS for integrated management of health and education facilities at the local level : challenges and opportunities in a developing country
The objective of this paper is to discuss challenges and opportunities met during
the development of a SDSS (Spatial Decision Support System) for integrated management of health and education facilities at the local level in Brazil. The goal of the proposed system is to seek for an optimal arrangement of health and education facilities in medium-sized cities, in order to reduce both facilities construction costs and user's transportation costs that ought to be produced during a time span of two to four decades. Some of the operational difficulties observed during the early implementation steps of the proposed SDSS are discussed in this paper. Apparently, they can be relevant in the practical application of similar systems. The
described experience also suggests that the implementation of systems like the one proposed here can be an opportunity to drive a change in the way that local governments in developing countries deal with planning
Aim: The present study intends to evaluate the factorial validity and reliability of a reduced version of the Derriford Appearance Scale (DAS-14) for the Portuguese population.
Method: After analysis of six samples collected between 2010 and 2017, a total of 1016 participant answered questions related to the schematic investment of appearance and self-consciousness of appearance (DAS-24), authorization was requested to the authors of the original and Portuguese version of the DAS-24 to reduce the scale to 14 items.
Results: The DAS-14 presented good internal consistency to non-clinical sample (Cronbach's alpha = 0.91) and (Cronbach's alpha = 0.88) to clinical samples. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the DAS-14, presents an acceptable to non-clinical sample (chi(2)/gl = 1.17; GFI = 0.95; CFI = 0.99; TLI = 0.98; RMSEA = 0.028; p[rmsea <= .05] = 0.92), and clinical sample (chi(2)/gl = 1.36; GFI = 0.94; CFI = 0.98; TLI = 0.96; RMSEA = 0.047; p[rmsea <= .05] = 0.56).
Conclusion: The Portuguese version of the DAS-14 is psychometrically robust in evaluating self-consciousness of appearance in general and clinical population.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
adolescentes no pré-parto;
adolescentes gestantes;
influenciaram na depressão pré-natal das adolescentes em causa;
For an appropriation of space to live, of the virtual space and subject's place : Parque Oziel
Abstract: This research is entailed to GEPEC - Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Educação Continuada da Faculdade de Educação da UNICAMP, and has as theme the space appropriation - territorial, virtual and subject - by Parque Oziel community, in Campinas, one of the biggest Latin America's urban occupations, where about 30,000 habitants live with a conquests and struggles history since 1997. The problem that this research intends to investigate is how the appropriation process of the territorial and virtual space that took place at Parque Oziel, as a result of the occupation, fortified the subject's identity constitution that turned characteristics these spaces, especially those who narred their histories about the occupation history. Thus, the two central objectives of the investigation were: on one side, contextualize the territorial space appropriation, as a way of identity affirmation of a homeless community, relating this to the appropriation of the virtual space too, and to the subject's place and, on the other hand, understand the influence of these conquests on the subjects that were the protagonists, considering the terms experience and feeling. To investigate this process, interviews with people that played the part of leadership in the community and several documental sources that deal with the events that took place at the period of the occupation and subsequent period, were utilized as instruments of data productions. The methodological approach, of quality research, is ruled especially through the narrative of the interviewees subjects. The documentation of the work was also organized as a narrative, however in a hipertextual model, composed from pages with complete texts, arranged in a non linear way, where the presentation of the informations foresee the reader liberty to choose his own ways of reading, without thrashing a single course established by the author. This allows a rizomatic approach of the pages contents. Even if the reality of the printed text restricts the potential of this kind of recourse, the biggest possible approximation was searched: each page was produced to represent by itself an intelligible text, though the pages are connected amongst themselves. The main concepts developed are about experience, otherness, virtual and cyberspace .The possible answers to the investigation central problem, from the analysed data, show some important lessons. One of them is that the kind of experience (Larrosa, 2004b) that takes place on a process like the one that occurred at Parque Oziel, takes effects of transformation on the subjects, that enlarge meaningfully the power upon themselves and on the world around them, the sense of belonging, the collective and personal identity and, therefore, the effective possibilities of the citizenship practice.
O presente estudo, pretende investigar a percepção do ajustamento conjugal e
The relation between sexuality and conjugality has been deeply redefined in the
last decades of the XX century. Whereas sex was traditionally a right and an attribute of
married people, sexual exchange has presently become the inner driving force in
contemporary conjugality. Nevertheless, this reversal has not brought about radical
shifts in gender relations. An analysis of trends in sexual behaviors doubtless shows the
closing of the gap between male and female sexual trajectories and the rise of a value of
reciprocity between partners. But a closer examination of the confronting of men and
women at the various stages of sexual exchange suggests the permanence of a strong
gender divergence: teen age socialization, as well as the very course of conjugal sex life
continue fostering very asymmetrical interpretations of sexuality, in which female
desire is always less legitimate than the male one.
This study aims to investigate the perception of marital adjustment and sexual
exclusivity for same-sex couples and couples of different sexes. To this end, it was used
the observational descriptive method, transversal and correlational.
It was found that 48% of respondents have values of sexual exclusivity less or
equal to 10 and that 49% of respondents have a level of marital adjustment greater than
or equal to 115. We can also verify that heterosexuals have higher levels of sexual
exclusivity, compared to bisexuals and homosexuals. However, the same does not apply
to marital adjustment, in which no significant differences were found between sexual
orientation (heterosexual, bisexual and homosexual)
A dinamização criativa da escrita no ensino básico
Dissertação de Mestrado em Estudos Portugueses Multidisciplinares apresentada à Universidade AbertaThe Boosting in Creative Writing in Basic School begins by reviewing the complex concept of creativity, providing some insight about erroneous conceptions and recognizing it as a universal attribute, which can be stimulated by an appropriate pedagogy. This idea is based on the need to promote and adapt to new ways of seeing and solving problems. The Rhodes model underlies the link between creativity and pedagogy by studying the creative environment (school and classroom), the creative person (teacher and student), the creative process (general strategies and the importance of motivation), and finally, the creative product. The analysis of creative practices in school, the defense of creative thinking and presentation of creative methods and
strategies complement that link.
Then we discussed the boosting of writing through the defense of some ideas that could facilitate this creative dynamic in the teaching-learning process of writing, in particular the verification of the difficulties throughout the process, the continuous monitoring of the writing process and appreciation/evaluation of the final product - the text. The study of procedural models of writing, namely the “Hayes and Flower Model” supports this proactive strategy. The recognition of the arduous character of writing reinforces the need for a creative pedagogy based not on content or proposition of lighter or easier exercises, but rather promoters of awareness of the many possibilities available for the written
expression. New perspectives for assessment and remediation, particularly inquisitive readings of error demonstrations reinforce the importance of an effective evaluation, which promotes motivation and boosting in the practice of writing.
Finally, the creation of creative writing workshops is advocated as a vital ground for training and motivation through a set of recreational and educational strategies, which develop the whole process of writing, promote active listening and critical reading. The empirical study accomplished allowed to test and develop the theories advanced in the early part of this dissertation in creative writing boost
negativo/positivo e otimismo); autoconceito; perceção da satisfação com o suporte social;
sociodemográfica; características da personalidade; perceção com o suporte social; autoconceito;
ajustamento psicológico ao desfiguramento facial.ABSTRACT : The face plays an important role in the daily life of all individuals, and the presence of facial
disfiguration (visible differences to the face), can lead to social avoidance behaviours, anxiety,
depression, shame, anger, humiliation and isolation. Although the acquired facial disfigurement has
been the subject of several investigations in the last decade, studies in Portugal are unknown.
The aim of this study was to contextualize the development of acquired facial disfigurement
caused by disease (head and neck cancer) or trauma (burns, aggression, others), pointing out the
theories and models with the greatest contribution in the evaluation and intervention in individuals
with visible differences to their face. It was also the objective of this study to present the
psychometric properties of the Portuguese version of the Derriford Appearance Scale (DAS-24),
considered an instrument of high pertinence in the evaluation of the suffering and difficulties
experienced with their appearance. Finally, we proposed to understand the possible influence of
personality traits on the schematic investment and self-consciousness of appearance in individuals
with no visible differences, and finally, to investigate and contribute to a better understanding of
the adjustment to visible differences on the face, considering personality characteristics
(neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, negative/positive affect
and optimism); self-concept; perception of satisfaction with social support; schematic investment
and appearance self- consciousness.
A sample of 508 participants, aged between 17 and 89, completed a questionnaire that
collected socio-demographic information, schematic investment and self-consciousness of
appearance. The DAS-24 was a psychometrically robust scale in the evaluation of selfconsciousness
of appearance. A sample of 214 participants, aged between 17 and 64, answered a
questionnaire to collect sociodemographic information, personality traits, schematic investment
and self-consciousness of appearance. Finally, a sample of 67 participants who underwent a surgical
intervention to their face, answered a questionnaire for the collection of sociodemographic
information; personality characteristics; perception with social support; self-concept; schematic
investment and self-consciousness of appearance, at two different moments of evaluation (postsurgical
and 12 months after). The results show a relationship between personality characteristics and schematic
investment and self-consciousness of appearance, on both samples (clinical and non-clinical),
where self-consciousness of appearance is expressed as a relevant attribute in the adjustment to
facial disfigurement. It is also considered that the self-concept also undergoes an alteration by the
influence of the beliefs related to the concerns with the appearance. It has been observed that the self-consciousness of appearance is influenced by several variables, where the individual confronted with their differences tend to regulate their thoughts and emotions. It is emphasized that optimism has a direct effect on the self-consciousness of appearance when visible differences arise, and this direct effect is replaced by negative affect over time. This study, concludes that characteristics of the personality; alteration of self-concept, and regulation of affect, influence schematic investment and self-consciousness of appearance, confirming the complexity and diversity of factors that influence psychological adjustment to facial disfigurement
An innovative platform for territorial marketing and location benchmarking
When looking for locations to install their production or business units,
entrepreneurs undertake a well established decision process that starts with the very
first option to invest in a specific country and finishes with a final decision over a
commonly named “short list”. In order to support investors looking for investment
locations in Portugal across the decision process mentioned before, an internet
platform was developed and deployed worldwide as a result of a development
partnership between the University of Minho and Innovation Point S.A., a
technological start-up. The platform, named where-to-invest-in-portugal.com and
often classified as a territorial marketing & analysis platform, includes an extensive
set of resources to support potential investors. Among them, the so-called
Investor_DSS channel is a multicriteria Decision Support System intended to model
the geographical screening and find the best ranked set of locations (municipalities)
for a particular location exercise. Other channels include fact sheets and databases
for Business Space Offers and Business Opportunities. A special channel is
dedicated to the Mayors, a space where they may address an invitation for direct
investment in their Municipalities. This paper describes the architecture of the
platform and some of the relevant developments related to
