O percurso de um estudante-estagiário: consolidar a teoria na procura da melhoria contínua no ensino da Educação Física

O Estágio Profissional apresenta-se como a etapa final da formação inicial do professor, onde ocorre o confronto entre os conhecimentos adquiridos no decurso da formação inicial com a prática real de ensino. Ou seja, é o momento privilegiado para a consolidação dos conhecimentos adquiridos e, perante os alunos, procurar concretizar um processo de melhoria contínua. Com efeito, sendo este o momento em que o Estudante Estagiário vive pela primeira vez este confronto, são exponenciadas as dificuldades provenientes do contexto e evidenciada a sua inexperiência prática. Por conseguinte, emerge a necessidade de monitorizar, escrutinar, refletir, pesquisar, identificar oportunidades e ações que visem a melhoria, bem como experimentar novos saberes e estratégias, que permitam ao Estudante Estagiário superar obstáculos, na procura da melhoria contínua. O presente Relatório de Estágio (RE) procura apresentar, interpretar e identificar a minha atuação, enquanto Estudante Estagiário, ao longo do Estágio Profissional, tendo por base a identificação dos (in)sucessos, o escrutínio realizado e, em a colaboração com os pares, as estratégias que conduziram a uma melhoria contínua. Este documento encontra-se dividido em 7 grandes capítulos: Introdução; Dimensão Pessoal; Enquadramento da Prática Profissional; Realização da Prática Profissional; Desenvolvimento Profissional e Conclusão e Perspetivas para o Futuro. O primeiro capítulo procura enquadrar o leitor no contexto, propósito e conteúdo do Relatório de Estágio. No segundo, é realizada uma apresentação autobiográfica. Neste, são evidenciadas as minhas motivações, potencialidades, dificuldades e expetativas, enquanto Estudante Estagiário. Posteriormente, surge o terceiro capítulo, onde se realiza uma caracterização, concetual, legal, institucional e funcional do Estágio Profissional, bem como da realidade contextual da escola cooperante. O quarto capítulo procura relatar todas as dificuldades e estratégias adquiridas pelo Estudante Estagiário nos sistemas instrucional, de gestão e social, sendo aqui inserido um Estudo de Investigação intitulado "O Efeito do Modelo de Educação Desportiva (MED) na Retenção da Aprendizagem dos Alunos no Basquetebol". No quinto, é realizado um relato acerca das relações do professor com a comunidade, bem como o contributo das mesmas para o seu desenvolvimento. O sexto capítulo engloba as atividades e experiências que contribuíram para o processo de edificação da minha competência profissional. No último capítulo, é apresentada uma retrospetiva de todo o caminho percorrido no Estágio Profissional, bem como uma perspetiva do meu futuro profissional.The school placement presents itself as the final stage of the initial teacher education, where the confrontation takes place between the knowledge acquired during teacher education and the real teaching practice. That is, it is the privileged moment to consolidate the knowledge acquired and in front of the students achieve the process of continuous improvement. Indeed, this is the moment in which the preservice teacher lives for the first time this confrontation, the difficulties arising from the context are exposed, and where his practical inexperience is evidenced. Therefore, exists the need to monitor, analyses, reflect, research, identify opportunities and actions aimed to improving as well as to experiment with new knowledge and strategies that allow the preservice teacher to overcome obstacles, in search of continuous improvement. The present practicum report seeks to portray and interpret the role of a preservice teacher (the author) throughout the school placement, based on the identification of (in) successes, the scrutiny carried out, and, in collaboration with peers, the solutions for continuous improvement. This document is divided into seven major chapters: Introduction; Personal Dimension; Professional Practice Framework; Realization of Professional Practice; Professional Development and Conclusions and Perspectives for the Future. The first chapter seeks to frame the reader in the context, purpose and content of the Practicum Report. In the second, an autobiographical reflection is carried out where the preservice teacher motivations, potentialities, difficulties and expectations are highlighted. Subsequently, the third chapter arises, where a characterization, conceptual, legal, institutional and functional of the School Placement, as well as the contextual reality of the cooperating school is realized. The fourth chapter seeks to report all the difficulties and strategies acquired by the preservice teacher in the instructional, management and social systems, and here is inserted a Research Study entitled "The Effect of the Model of Sports Education in Retention of Student Learning in Basketball". In the fifth, there is a report about teacher's relations with the community, as well as their contribution to their development. The sixth chapter encompasses the activities and experiences that contributed to the construction of professional competence. Finally, in the last chapter, a conclusion is inserted that includes a retrospective of the entire process of school placement, aiming at a professional future

Characterisation of microbial attack on archaeological bone

As part of an EU funded project to investigate the factors influencing bone preservation in the archaeological record, more than 250 bones from 41 archaeological sites in five countries spanning four climatic regions were studied for diagenetic alteration. Sites were selected to cover a range of environmental conditions and archaeological contexts. Microscopic and physical (mercury intrusion porosimetry) analyses of these bones revealed that the majority (68%) had suffered microbial attack. Furthermore, significant differences were found between animal and human bone in both the state of preservation and the type of microbial attack present. These differences in preservation might result from differences in early taphonomy of the bones. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved
