The increase in the number of channels driven by technology trajectory over the years have led to a change in customer behaviour. Customers move around different retailer platforms during a single purchase; even so customers still expect a superior and seamless customer experience while navigating these channels. The present study built on studies conducted in countries such as China, Spain, India, United Kingdom amongst others to determine if the learnings from these countries can be applied in the South African context. This study used an interpretivist phenomenological approach and interviewed a qualitative sample of participants to gain insights on their experiences while shopping in these retailers. This study will assist Information Technology managers with prioritisation of their technology roadmaps. This study will also contribute to computer science studies because programmers will have a context of a customer’s perspective when developing omnichannel solutions. Lastly, the study can be used by governments and policy makers in developing national strategic plans relating to shared economy because the study highlights the need to omnichannel retailing in remote areas. The findings from the research were summarised into five themes customer experience, convenience, product, support, and security. The optimal South African omnichannel retail experience is one that allows the customer to seamlessly move across channels by integrating the retailing mix elements of product, place, promotion, price. To achieve this experience, retailers must integrate the customer’s profile information and ensure that the customer’s payment details are secure and are able to seamlessly login in all the retailer platforms. Contrary to the researcher’s expectations, South African customers do not expect an omnichannel support. They expect to keep online support separate from in-store support.Thesis (MA) -- Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences, 202

In this study, pyrolytic liquid obtained in 500 ° C temperature, 15 ° C / min heating rate and 0,5 lt / min nitrogen flow rate pyrolysis parameters and then 2 times extraction with 10% H2SO4 solution to decrease sulfur content was used as a binder in MgO-C refractory brick. % Open porosity, density, cold compressive strength (CCS) and three point bending strength and Elastic Modulus values of the produced refractory materials were determined, and were compared with the properties of MgO-C refractory bricks produced by incorporation of phenolic resin in the refractory sector. In addition, microstructure images by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were investigated and were correlated with the mechanical properties of those refractories. Elemental analysis by X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy and phase analysis by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) were performed.

In this done study in order to prevent problems caused by increasing tire wastes every day and to provide recycling in the refractory sector, change in sulfur content in pyrolytic carbon black depending on pyrolysis parameters and also the density, % open porosity and cold compressive strength (CCS) values of the MgO-C refractory materials produced using pyrolytic solid carbon black product as a function of sulfur content were investigated. As the amount of sulfur decreased, the density and CCS values increased and the open pore % values decreased

The Rangatira - chieftainship in traditional Maori society.

This thesis is a study of Maori chiefship, based on historical evidence. Very soon after the discovery of New Zealand by Cook in 1769 the Maori began to change and the traditional way of life was left behind. At the same time the Maori are one of the world's most documented people. In the accounts of the early explorers, missionaries, traders, and settlers, from Cook's time onwards there is a wealth of ethnographic material. the accounts were taken up by surveyors, native agents, and Maoris themselves either deliberately recording the passing way of life, or indirectly revealing many of its features while giving evidence in the land courts. Throughout the period we have the observations of amateur ethnographers as Colenso, Maning, White, Gudgeon, Tregear, Downes and others. The era of such observers culminated in the works of Elsdon Best. [Abstract continued in thesis]</p

This study was carried out to investigate learner perceptions as to what constitutes an effective EFL textbook generally, in terms of grammar and vocabulary, four basic skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking), and communicative content. To this end, a mixed method of inquiry was adopted, and 117 participants (93 male, 24 female; mean age: 19.78) participated the study by filling out a questionnaire that was prepared by the researcher in addition to 12 people who took part in the semi-structured interviews. Interview participants were chosen among those who also responded to the questionnaires. The data showed that even though learners are not knowledgeable about textbook selection and evaluation, they were well aware of what an effective EFL textbook should be like both in the global and local sense. The results obtained via questionnaires and interviews are presented in a way that they complement each other, and all suggestions are collated and a tentative textbook evaluation checklist was proposed. Based on the results of this study, some implications for ELT are provided as well as suggestions for further research.Thesis (M.S.) -- Graduate School of Social Sciences. English Language Teaching

Synthesis, structural characterization and biological evaluation of novel mixed-ligand Co(II) complexes as quorum sensing inhibitory agent

Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest health problems of the twenty-first century. In order to cope with this global problem, alternative preventive strategies such as quorum sensing interruption are needed. Therefore, it is very important to develop new compounds with anti-quorum sensing activity. Here we present the synthesis and structural characterization of two new Co (II) complexes; [Co(btmpp)(NCO)(2)], 1 and [Co(btmpp)(NCSe)(2)], 2 (where btmpp is: 2,6-bis(3,4,5-trimethylpyrazolyl) pyridine). The crystal structures of both complexes is determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The coordination environment of Co(II) atoms can be described as a distorted square pyramidal geometry. Both complexes is screened for antibacterial activities against Gram-positive (B. substilis) and Gram-negative (P. aeruginosa, S. typhimurium, S. sonnei, Y. enterocolitica) bacterial strains. The effects of these complexes on QS-regulated behaviors of bacteria such as swarming, and biofilm formation is also examined. All bacteria are found to be more sensitive to complex 2 than complex 1.University of BristolPlymouth Universit
