Conocer la frecuencia y los tipos de carbapenemasas producidas por enterobacterias aisladas en muestras clínicas en el Complejo Asistencial Universitario de Salamanca (CAUSA) desde el año 2015 hasta la actualidad. 2. Comparar la frecuencia y características de las cepas halladas en nuestro medio con otros estudios a nivel nacional. 3. Valorar los métodos fenotípicos utilizados en su detección

    Diseño del prototipo de un kit de impresora 3D

    Las tecnologías de impresión 3D están experimentando recientemente un gran crecimiento, ganando importancia en diferentes campos de investigación y en el mercado y ampliando la diversidad de sus aplicaciones. Por este motivo, este proyecto consiste en el diseño de un kit de impresora 3D de la mayor calidad posible, mejorando la precisión de los kits actuales. El objetivo principal del proyecto es que esta impresora sea de uso personal, de forma que se traslada un sistema de fabricación desde la industria al domicilio particular. Al tratarse de un kit, se intenta que el usuario construya su propia impresora, y que de esta forma pueda adquirir mayor conocimiento sobre el funcionamiento de la máquina. Esto a su vez permite disminuir los costes de fabricación de la impresora y de las piezas y añade un alto grado de personalización. En concreto este trabajo engloba el diseño de la parte mecánica de la impresora, centrándose fundamentalmente en el mecanismo de impresión. En el proyecto se estudia cada parte de la impresora, analizando cada uno de sus componentes y su distribución dentro de la impresora. Mediante el programa de diseño SolidWorks se ha llevado a cabo el modelado mecánico de la impresora. Este diseño corresponde al prototipo de la impresora 3D. A partir del cual deberá realizarse un posterior estudio que verifique su correcto funcionamiento para llevar a cabo la fabricación de las mismas. Para su diseño, el proyecto se ha inspirado en el proyecto RepRap . Este consiste en un conjunto de impresoras 3D que pueden ser auto-replicables. El resultado obtenido del presente trabajo es una impresora de tamaño reducido, similar a dichas impresoras pero sin la característica de poder fabricarse a sí misma. Esto por lo tanto supone un precio más elevado pero la impresora ofrece mayor precisión y duración de vida debido a una mayor resistencia

    COEDU-IN Project: an inclusive co-educational project for teaching computational thinking and digital skills at early ages

    Learning to program is the new literacy of the 21st century. Computational thinking, closely related to programming, requires thinking and solving problems with different levels of abstraction and is independent of hardware devices. The early childhood education stage provides teachers with the opportunity to lay the foundations for a comprehensive quality education using innovative tools and technologies. Educational robotics in early childhood education becomes a tool that facilitates the acquisition of knowledge to children, playfully, based on the principles of interactivity, social interrelationships, collaborative work, creativity, constructivist and constructionist learning, and a student-centered didactic approach, allowing in turn that student can acquire digital competencies and develop logical and computational thinking in an underlying way. This project explores the current state of teaching and learning computational thinking and programming in early childhood education in an inclusive manner. Moreover, the lack of diversity and inequality is particularly latent in science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Therefore, this work considers this problem and presents an inclusive coeducation approach to this new literacy, eliminating gender stereotypes and extending them to people with Down syndrome and hospitalized minors

    Atherosclerotic Pre-Conditioning Affects the Paracrine Role of Circulating Angiogenic Cells Ex-Vivo

    In atherosclerosis, circulating angiogenic cells (CAC), also known as early endothelial progenitor cells (eEPC), are thought to participate mainly in a paracrine fashion by promoting the recruitment of other cell populations such as late EPC, or endothelial colony-forming cells (ECFC), to the injured areas. There, ECFC replace the damaged endothelium, promoting neovascularization. However, despite their regenerative role, the number and function of EPC are severely affected under pathological conditions, being essential to further understand how these cells react to such environments in order to implement their use in regenerative cell therapies. Herein, we evaluated the effect of direct incubation ex vivo of healthy CAC with the secretome of atherosclerotic arteries. By using a quantitative proteomics approach, 194 altered proteins were identified in the secretome of pre-conditioned CAC, many of them related to inhibition of angiogenesis (e.g., endostatin, thrombospondin-1, fibulins) and cell migration. Functional assays corroborated that healthy CAC released factors enhanced ECFC angiogenesis, but, after atherosclerotic pre-conditioning, the secretome of pre-stimulated CAC negatively affected ECFC migration, as well as their ability to form tubules on a basement membrane matrix assay. Overall, we have shown here, for the first time, the effect of atherosclerotic factors over the paracrine role of CAC ex vivo. The increased release of angiogenic inhibitors by CAC in response to atherosclerotic factors induced an angiogenic switch, by blocking ECFC ability to form tubules in response to pre-conditioned CAC. Thus, we confirmed here that the angiogenic role of CAC is highly affected by the atherosclerotic environment

    SOCS3 deregulation contributes to aberrant activation of the JAK/STAT pathway in precursor T-cell neoplasms

    Despite the Janus kinase/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway being frequently altered in T-ALL/LBL, no specific therapy has been approved for T-ALL/LBL patients with constitutive signalling by JAK/STAT, so there is an urgent need to identify pathway members that may be potential therapeutic targets. In the present study, we searched for JAK/STAT pathway members potentially modulated through aberrant methylation and identified SOCS3 hypermethylation as a recurrent event in T-ALL/LBL. Additionally, we explored the implications of SOCS3 deregulation in T-ALL/LBL and demonstrated that SOCS3 counteracts the constitutive activation of the JAK/STAT pathway through different molecular mechanisms.     In utero exposure to bisphenols and asthma, wheeze, and lung function in school-age children: a prospective meta-analysis of 8 European birth cohorts

    [EN] BACKGROUND: In utero exposure to bisphenols, widely used in consumer products, may alter lung development and increase the risk of respiratory morbidity in the offspring. However, evidence is scarce and mostly focused on bisphenol A (BPA) only. OBJECTIVE: To examine the associations of in utero exposure to BPA, bisphenol F (BPF), and bisphenol S (BPS) with asthma, wheeze, and lung function in school-age children, and whether these associations differ by sex. METHODS: We included 3,007 mother-child pairs from eight European birth cohorts. Bisphenol concentrations were determined in maternal urine samples collected during pregnancy (1999-2010). Between 7 and 11years of age, current asthma and wheeze were assessed from questionnaires and lung function by spirometry. Wheezing patterns were constructed from questionnaires from early to mid-childhood. We performed adjusted random-effects meta-analysis on individual participant data. RESULTS: Exposure to BPA was prevalent with 90% of maternal samples containing concentrations above detection limits. BPF and BPS were found in 27% and 49% of samples. In utero exposure to BPA was associated with higher odds of current asthma (OR=1.13, 95% CI=1.01, 1.27) and wheeze (OR=1.14, 95% CI=1.01, 1.30) (p-interaction sex=0.01) among girls, but not with wheezing patterns nor lung function neither in overall nor among boys. We observed inconsistent associations of BPF and BPS with the respiratory outcomes assessed in overall and sex-stratified analyses.     Genomic mutation profile in progressive chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients prior to first-line chemoimmunotherapy with FCR and rituximab maintenance (REM)

    Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) is the most prevalent leukemia in Western countries and is notable for its variable clinical course. This variability is partly reflected by the mutational status of IGHV genes. Many CLL samples have been studied in recent years by next-generation sequencing. These studies have identified recurrent somatic mutations in NOTCH1, SF3B1, ATM, TP53, BIRC3 and others genes that play roles in cell cycle, DNA repair, RNA metabolism and splicing. In this study, we have taken a deep-targeted massive sequencing approach to analyze the impact of mutations in the most frequently mutated genes in patients with CLL enrolled in the REM (rituximab en mantenimiento) clinical trial. The mutational status of our patients with CLL, except for the TP53 gene, does not seem to affect the good results obtained with maintenance therapy with rituximab after front-line FCR treatment
