The resonance amplitude associated with the Gamow states

The Gamow states describe the quasinormal modes of quantum systems. It is shown that the resonance amplitude associated with the Gamow states is given by the complex delta function. It is also shown that under the near-resonance approximation of neglecting the lower bound of the energy, such resonance amplitude becomes the Breit-Wigner amplitude. This result establishes the precise connection between the Gamow states, Nakanishi's complex delta function and the Breit-Wigner amplitude. In addition, this result provides another theoretical basis for the phenomenological fact that the almost-Lorentzian peaks in cross sections are produced by intermediate, unstable particles

Gamow-Siegert functions and Darboux-deformed short range potentials

Darboux-deformations of short range one-dimensional potentials are constructed by means of Gamow-Siegert functions (resonance states). Results include both Hermitian and non-Hermitian short range potentials which are exactly solvable. As illustration, the method is applied to square wells and barriers for which the transmission coefficient is a superposition of Fock-Breit-Wigner distributions. Resonance levels are calculated in the long lifetime limit by means of analytical and numerical approaches. The new complex potentials behave as an optical device which both refracts and absorbs light waves.Comment: 20 pages, 15 figures, LaTeX fil

    Get PDF

In the Comedy he presents it as the friend of a military man with the one that lives together in a regimen of concubinage allowed by the law and that was the most similar thing to the marriage. In the Tragicomedy, on the other hand, he turns her into a clandestine prostitute who takes part of the corruption of the justice to make and to undo to her whim. In five interpolated cars he ends up by granting her a function very similar to the one that had had the deceased Celestin

Identification of Genes Responsive to Solar Simulated UV Radiation in Human Monocyte-Derived Dendritic Cells

Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation has profound effects on the skin and the systemic immune system. Several effects of UV radiation on Dendritic cells (DCs) functions have been described. However, gene expression changes induced by UV radiation in DCs have not been addressed before. In this report, we irradiated human monocyte-derived DCs with solar-simulated UVA/UVB and analyzed regulated genes on human whole genome arrays. Results were validated by RT-PCR and further analyzed by Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA). Solar-simulated UV radiation up-regulated expression of genes involved in cellular stress and inflammation, and down-regulated genes involved in chemotaxis, vesicular transport and RNA processing. Twenty four genes were selected for comparison by RT-PCR with similarly treated human primary keratinocytes and human melanocytes. Several genes involved in the regulation of the immune response were differentially regulated in UVA/UVB irradiated human monocyte-derived DCs, such as protein tyrosine phosphatase, receptor type E (PTPRE), thrombospondin-1 (THBS1), inducible costimulator ligand (ICOSL), galectins, Src-like adapter protein (SLA), IL-10 and CCR7. These results indicate that UV-exposure triggers the regulation of a complex gene repertoire involved in human-DC–mediated immune responses

Multimeric recombinant antibody (scFv) for ELISA detection of allergenic walnut: an alternative to animal antibodies

Walnuts are classified as an important allergenic ingredient that can cause severe reactions in sensitized individuals. To prevent unintended exposure to products containing walnut, food manufacturers have the responsibility to declare its presence in packaged foods. Immunochemical methods are widely used to detect walnut proteins. However, available immunoassays rely on the use of antibodies raised in animals. In this work, an affinity probe for walnut proteins has been isolated from the Tomlinson I library, and further engineered in Pichia pastoris to produce the in vivo Juglans regia Biotinylated Soluble Fragment-single chain multimeric antibody (JrBSF-scFv). The multimeric scFv has been used to develop a direct enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), allowing detection of walnut in a food matrix with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1616 mg kg-1. This is the first recombinant antibody available for detection of walnut proteins. The assay is specific, only cross-reacting to some extent (2.25 %) to pecan, thus being useful as a screening tool for detection of walnut in raw or baked food matrices. Multimerization of the scFv with different avidin derivates could be of interest to improve sensitivity of the assay

Extended WKB method, resonances and supersymmetric radial barriers

Semiclassical approximations are implemented in the calculation of position and width of low energy resonances for radial barriers. The numerical integrations are delimited by t/T<<8, with t the period of a classical particle in the barrier trap and T the resonance lifetime. These energies are used in the construction of `haired' short range potentials as the supersymmetric partners of a given radial barrier. The new potentials could be useful in the study of the transient phenomena which give rise to the Moshinsky's diffraction in time.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures, 3 table
