    Effectiveness of Influenza Vaccination in Preventing Acute Asthma Exacerbations in Adult Patient

    Acute respiratory tract infection is a major cause of acute exacerbations in asthma. One example of viral respiratory tract infection is influenza caused by influenza virus. Administering influenza vaccine to asthmatic patients is expected to protect them from acute asthma exacerbations caused by influenza virus.The purpose of this case study is to determine the effectiveness of influenza vaccines in protecting the patients from acute exacerbations of asthma in adults. Literature search was conducted in the Pubmed database, EBSCO, Clinical Key, Google Scholar, and Science Direct to identify relevant articles. Literature search was done on March 30th, 2015. There were two selected articles that met the criterias and fully accessible for further review. Both articles had good validity and showed that there was no significant effect of influenza vaccination against acute asthma exacerbations. Number Needed to Treat (NNT) value from one of the articles showed no significancy. Influenza vaccination does not have significant protective effect against acute asthma exacerbations in adults

    Spin dependence of the antinucleon-nucleon interaction

    The status of our present knowledge on the antinucleon-nucleon interaction at low and medium energies is discussed. Special emphasis is put on aspects related to its spin dependence which are relevant for experiments planned by the PAX collaboration.     Smart phones and people are two things something not separate that from one another. Children, adolescents and adults use smart phones. Their intensity with their smart phones varies. Smart phones provide a variety of features, not just to receive and make long-distance calls, activities such as self and edit it for hours, watching movies, surfing the Internet, games, social media and others can also be done. Various data show that the cumulative time of this activity results in a high level of smart phone usage, both in children, adolescence and adulthood. So, what about old adult? This study aims to measure the level of old adult interaction with smart phones against 59 respondents. Measurements using a monophobia questionnaire (NMP-Q). It analysed data using Rasch Model and Network Psychometry. The results show that the old adult interaction rate of the smart phone is at high, medium, and low levels

While much has been learned about the mechanism of action of these defense strategies, it is less clear why such diversity in defense strategies has evolved. In this review, we discuss the short- and long-term costs and benefits of the different resistance strategies and, hence, the ecological conditions that are likely to favor the different strategies alone and in combination.     Demulsification mechanism of asphaltene-stabilized water-in-oil emulsions by a polymeric ethylene oxide-propylene oxide demulsifier

    The demulsification mechanism of asphaltene-stabilized water-in-toluene emulsions by an ethylene-oxide-propylene oxide (EO-PO) based polymeric demulsifier was studied. Demulsification efficiency was determined by bottle tests and correlated to the physicochemical properties of asphaltene interfacial films after demulsifier addition. From bottle tests and droplet coalescence experiments, the demulsifier showed an optimal performance at 2.3 ppm (mass basis) in toluene. At high concentrations, the demulsification performance deteriorated due to the intrinsic stabilizing capacity of the demulsifier, which was attributed to steric repulsion between water droplets. Addition of demulsifier was shown to soften the asphaltene film (i.e., reduce the viscoelastic moduli of asphaltene films) under both shear and compressional interfacial deformations. Study of the macrostructures and the chemical composition of asphaltene film at the toluene-water interface after demulsifier addition demonstrated gradual penetration of the demulsifier into the asphaltene film. Demulsifier penetration in the asphaltene film changed the asphaltene interfacial mobility and morphology, as probed with Brewster angle and atomic force microscopy

    Feasibility studies of the time-like proton electromagnetic form factor measurements with PANDA at FAIR

    The possibility of measuring the proton electromagnetic form factors in the time-like region at FAIR with the \PANDA detector is discussed. Detailed simulations on signal efficiency for the annihilation of pˉ+p\bar p +p into a lepton pair as well as for the most important background channels have been performed. It is shown that precision measurements of the differential cross section of the reaction pˉ+pe++e\bar p +p \to e^++ e^- can be obtained in a wide angular and kinematical range. The individual determination of the moduli of the electric and magnetic proton form factors will be possible up to a value of momentum transfer squared of q214q^2\simeq 14 (GeV/c)2^2. The total pˉ+pe++e\bar p +p\to e^++e^- cross section will be measured up to q228q^2\simeq 28 (GeV/c)2^2. The results obtained from simulated events are compared to the existing data.     Feasibility studies of time-like proton electromagnetic form factors at PANDA at FAIR

    Simulation results for future measurements of electromagnetic proton form factors at \PANDA (FAIR) within the PandaRoot software framework are reported. The statistical precision with which the proton form factors can be determined is estimated. The signal channel pˉpe+e\bar p p \to e^+ e^- is studied on the basis of two different but consistent procedures. The suppression of the main background channel, i.e.\textit{i.e.} pˉpπ+π\bar p p \to \pi^+ \pi^-, is studied. Furthermore, the background versus signal efficiency, statistical and systematical uncertainties on the extracted proton form factors are evaluated using two different procedures. The results are consistent with those of a previous simulation study using an older, simplified framework. However, a slightly better precision is achieved in the PandaRoot study in a large range of momentum transfer, assuming the nominal beam conditions and detector performance
