On possible implications of gluon number fluctuations in DIS data

We study the effect of gluon number fluctuations (Pomeron loops) on deep inelastic scattering (DIS) in the fixed coupling case. We find that the description of the DIS data is improved once gluon number fluctuations are included. Also the values of the parameters, like the saturation exponent and the diffussion coefficient, turn out reasonable and agree with values obtained from numerical simulations of toy models which take into account fluctuations. This outcome seems to indicate the evidence of geometric scaling violations, and a possible implication of gluon number fluctuations, in the DIS data. However, we cannot exclude the possibility that the scaling violations may also come from the diffusion part of the solution to the BK-equation, instead of gluon number fluctuations.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures; references added, minor changes, matches published versio

CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SORTING OPERATION OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES

    Get PDF
For the normal development of daily activity and maintaining health, the body needs a certain amount of energy and complete nutritional factors (proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, minerals, water). They are obtained from food, fruits and vegetables occupying a prominent place as a natural source of carbohydrates, alkalizing mineral salts, vitamins and water. Conditioning involves a set of operations aimed at bringing the products to the characteristics provided by standards, specific to a certain direction of capitalization. This article describes the operations included in the conditioning process, the role and importance of presorting and sorting fruits and vegetables, as well as equipment for these operations

STUDY ON THE CONVERSION OF A CONVENTIONAL TRACTOR INTO AN ELECTRIC TRACTOR

The paper presents the study on how a classic tractor with internal combustion engine can be modified so that it is powered by a battery-powered electric motor. The article presents equipment and components with which a tractor can be modified so that it can run on electricity. In general, an electric tractor consists of the chassis from which the heat engine, electric motor, battery, control and configuration equipment, software used and communication equipment, of the electronic systems on board the tractor are removed

Jerusalem artichoke, is a technical plant that have some special features which make it suitable to be cultivated on degraded and difficult soils. However, processing difficult lands can cause major problems for farmers, in terms of using the right technology and reducing investment costs. The paper aim to address to the main challenges faced in preparing the soil for a Jerusalem artichoke culture, in order to maximize the productivity and efficiency

Experimental and Theoretical Challenges in the Search for the Quark Gluon Plasma: The STAR Collaboration's Critical Assessment of the Evidence from RHIC Collisions

We review the most important experimental results from the first three years of nucleus-nucleus collision studies at RHIC, with emphasis on results from the STAR experiment, and we assess their interpretation and comparison to theory. The theory-experiment comparison suggests that central Au+Au collisions at RHIC produce dense, rapidly thermalizing matter characterized by: (1) initial energy densities above the critical values predicted by lattice QCD for establishment of a Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP); (2) nearly ideal fluid flow, marked by constituent interactions of very short mean free path, established most probably at a stage preceding hadron formation; and (3) opacity to jets. Many of the observations are consistent with models incorporating QGP formation in the early collision stages, and have not found ready explanation in a hadronic framework. However, the measurements themselves do not yet establish unequivocal evidence for a transition to this new form of matter. The theoretical treatment of the collision evolution, despite impressive successes, invokes a suite of distinct models, degrees of freedom and assumptions of as yet unknown quantitative consequence. We pose a set of important open questions, and suggest additional measurements, at least some of which should be addressed in order to establish a compelling basis to conclude definitively that thermalized, deconfined quark-gluon matter has been produced at RHIC.Comment: 101 pages, 37 figures; revised version to Nucl. Hadronization geometry from net-charge angular correlations on momentum subspace (η,ϕ\eta,\phi) in Au-Au collisions at sNN=130\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 130 GeV

We present the first measurements of charge-dependent correlations on angular difference variables η1η2\eta_1 - \eta_2 (pseudorapidity) and ϕ1ϕ2\phi_1 - \phi_2 (azimuth) for primary charged hadrons with transverse momentum 0.15pt20.15 \leq p_t \leq 2 GeV/cc and η1.3|\eta| \leq 1.3 from Au-Au collisions at sNN=130\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 130 GeV. We observe correlation structures not predicted by theory but consistent with evolution of hadron emission geometry with increasing centrality from one-dimensional fragmentation of color strings along the beam direction to an at least two-dimensional hadronization geometry along the beam and azimuth directions of a hadron-opaque bulk medium.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figure

On Kolmogorov Wave Turbulence in QCD.

    Get PDF
We investigate Kolmogorov wave turbulence in QCD or, in other words, we calculate the spectrum of gluons as a function of time, f_k(t), in the presence of a source which feeds in energy density in the infrared region at a constant rate. We find an early, an intermediate and a late time form for the gluon spectrum. Wave turbulence in QCD turns out to be somewhat different than the turbulence in the case of \phi^4-type theories studied by Zakharov, L'vov and Falkovich. The hope is that a good understanding of QCD wave turbulence might lead to a better understanding of the instability problem in the early stages of the evolution after a heavy ion collision.Comment: 25 pages, 4 figure
