    Intense infiltration of gastrointestinal and colonic mucosa with eosinophils or acidophilic gastroenteritis (EG) is a relatively uncommon picture for a pathologist endoscopist especially outside the pediatric age group and is highly suggestive of an ongoing chronic inflammatory process. Existing literature projected a hypothetical association with allergy but the exact pathophysiology is still unknown. Association with malabsorption, protein losing enteropathy, and refractory ulcers with gastrointestinal bleeding makes the clinical presentation more complicated. We present a unique case of diarrhea and abdominal pain in the clinical presentation with associated peripheral eosinophilia, asthma, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).     Extrapulmonary Small Cell Carcinoma of the Stomach: A Lethal Entity

    Extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma of the stomach is a rare and aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis that was first described in 1976 by Matsusaka et al. In 1989 it was recognized by the World Health Organization as an independent entity affecting the stomach. Pure and composite are the two types of gastric small cell carcinoma reported in the literature. We report a case of a 68-year-old African American male with metastatic pure-type extrapulmonary small cell cancer of the stomach. The primary lesion measured approximately 7 cm in diameter on endoscopy. The diagnosis was made on the basis of characteristic histological features of small, round, oval lymphocyte-like cells with hyperchromatic nuclei, and scant cytoplasm consistent with small cell carcinoma. Gastric small cell carcinoma is typically diagnosed at an advanced stage as demonstrated in our case.     Cytomegalovirus Infection of the Colon Presenting as a Mass-Like Lesion

    Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is responsible for the most common opportunistic infections in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). The colon is a common site for these infections in patients positive for human immunodeficiency virus. CMV rarely presents as an intraluminal inflammatory mass in the colon. Here we report the case of a CMV infection presenting as a mass-like lesion in an AIDS patient. The clinical diagnosis of CMV infection is largely based on the characteristic endoscopic appearance. Endoscopic procedures are encouraged early in the course of CMV infection in immunocompromised patients. CMV pseudotumors along with malignancy should be part of the endoscopic evaluation in patients with AIDS

    This paper assesses the readiness and the optimization of restaurant delivery systems. The restaurant industry has suffered a lot economically during this past year. Several restaurants didn’t survive the pandemic and others still are still struggling to remain open due to local and federal laws preventing gathering in a restaurant. To survive during this pandemic, restaurants will need to pivot and change their day to day business operations. Two surveys research were conducted based on our initial Hierarchical Decision model’s category containing safety, quality, service, economics. One survey was sent to a few restaurant owners and the other was sent to the general restaurant customers A Hierarchical Decision Model (HDM) was created to identify the key factors that will enable restaurants to efficiently meet and implement delivery services to general revenues while the governmental restrictions are still in place

    An Experimental Evaluation of the Proto-MATE: A Novel Ergonomic Upper-Limb Exoskeleton to Reduce Workers' Physical Strain

    Wearable passive upper-limb exoskeletons have been proposed and commercialized as tools to improve the ergonomics of workers in repetitive or physically demanding tasks. In the study presented here, an innovative upper-limb exoskeleton is presented, along with experimental tests with human subjects. The device, called proto-MATE, is characterized by two distinguishing design features: a highly ergonomic human-robot kinematics architecture and bioinspired assistance, created to partially compensate for the user's arm weight. Experimental tests investigated the device's effects on the physical strain of eight upper-limb muscles. These tests also quantified the kinematic coupling between the device and the user by means of specific kinematics-related parameters. The protocol included overhead tasks that are representative of the target application and tasks that generalize nontargeted upperlimb movements and may occur in real working conditions

    2015 Atomic Spectrometry Update – a review of advances in X-ray fluorescence spectrometry and their applications

    This review describes advances in the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) group of techniques published approximately between April 2014 and March 2015 and is therefore restricted to a selection of papers featuring developments in the XRF armoury. An active topic during this review period was that of imaging techniques and, more particularly of micro XRF spectrometry. Silicon-based semiconductor X-ray detectors such as SDD and Si(PIN) continue to reflect the maturity and widespread routine use of such devices. The significant expansion in studies evaluating the field use of portable XRF instrumentation in geological applications, often still proving the quality of the data, rather than adopting the technique in routine applications. New synchrotron beamlines offer previously unavailable spatial resolution and throughput for the characterisation of advanced energy materials and devices under varying temperatures and gas atmospheres. Nanomaterials feature extensively this year such as the use of nanoparticles in cancer imaging and therapy. Synchrotron radiation has become a preferred technique for the analysis of a wide range of archeological samples, artwork, museum specimens and environmental studies. There has been a substantial rise in the number of Chinese researchers investigating objects of cultural heritage, especially porcelain, glazes and glass. Advances in TXRF and related techniques continue to feature with studies on thin films and nanomaterials.
