Effect of shelf conditions on the phenolic fraction and oxidation indices of monovarietal extra virgin olive oil from cv. âTaggiascaâ
The quality of monovarietal extra virgin olive oil from cv. âTaggiascaâ is influenced by many factors that have impact on shelf-life as well as on sensory and healthy properties of the product. The aim of the work was to recreate the conditions similar to those in consumer sales point (conditions of âshelfâ), maintaining the olive oil packaged in dark-green bottles at room temperature (between 18 and 25 °C) under artificial light and away from heat sources, monitoring the oils up to 12 months from bottling with quarterly sampling for the main chemical, physico-chemical, and sensory parameters related to the quality. After one year of storage, an organoleptic alteration with reduction of the attributes âfruityâ, âpungentâ, and âbitterâ, as well as the occurrence of ârancidâ defect, was observed. This alteration was found to be accompanied by a decrease in phenolic substances and tocopherols and an increase in primary and secondary oxidation products. The composition of the volatile fraction showed a slight increase of substances related to rancid defect, a constant trend of compounds related to fruitiness, and a slight decrease in alcohols. It can be concluded that the optimum time of storage of the oil under the above-mentioned conditions is approximately 9 months
A self-sustaining endocytic-based loop promotes breast cancer plasticity leading to aggressiveness and pro-metastatic behavior
The subversion of endocytic routes leads to malignant transformation and has been implicated in human cancers. However, there is scarce evidence for genetic alterations of endocytic proteins as causative in high incidence human cancers. Here, we report that Epsin 3 (EPN3) is an oncogene with prognostic and therapeutic relevance in breast cancer. Mechanistically, EPN3 drives breast tumorigenesis by increasing E-cadherin endocytosis, followed by the activation of a \u3b2-catenin/TCF4-dependent partial epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), followed by the establishment of a TGF\u3b2-dependent autocrine loop that sustains EMT. EPN3-induced partial EMT is instrumental for the transition from in situ to invasive breast carcinoma, and, accordingly, high EPN3 levels are detected at the invasive front of human breast cancers and independently predict metastatic rather than loco-regional recurrence. Thus, we uncover an endocytic-based mechanism able to generate TGF\u3b2-dependent regulatory loops conferring cellular plasticity and invasive behavior
Study of the doubly charmed tetraquark T+cc
Quantum chromodynamics, the theory of the strong force, describes interactions of coloured quarks and gluons and the formation of hadronic matter. Conventional hadronic matter consists of baryons and mesons made of three quarks and quark-antiquark pairs, respectively. Particles with an alternative quark content are known as exotic states. Here a study is reported of an exotic narrow state in the D0D0Ï+ mass spectrum just below the D*+D0 mass threshold produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The state is consistent with the ground isoscalar T+cc tetraquark with a quark content of ccuâŻâŻâŻdâŻâŻâŻ and spin-parity quantum numbers JPâ=â1+. Study of the DD mass spectra disfavours interpretation of the resonance as the isovector state. The decay structure via intermediate off-shell D*+ mesons is consistent with the observed D0Ï+ mass distribution. To analyse the mass of the resonance and its coupling to the D*D system, a dedicated model is developed under the assumption of an isoscalar axial-vector T+cc state decaying to the D*D channel. Using this model, resonance parameters including the pole position, scattering length, effective range and compositeness are determined to reveal important information about the nature of the T+cc state. In addition, an unexpected dependence of the production rate on track multiplicity is observed
First observation of forward production in collisions at TeV
The decay ZâbbÂŻ is reconstructed in pp collision data, corresponding to 2 fb â1 of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV. The product of the Z production cross-section and the ZâbbÂŻ branching fraction is measured for candidates in the fiducial region defined by two particle-level b -quark jets with pseudorapidities in the range 2.220 GeV and dijet invariant mass in the range 452045 < m_{jj} < 1655462 \pm 763Z \rightarrow b \bar{b}332 \pm 46 \pm 59Z \rightarrow b \bar{b}pp$ collisions
Study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state
A study of the lineshape of the chi(c1) (3872) state is made using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb(-1) collected in pp collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb detector. Candidate chi(c1)(3872) and psi(2S) mesons from b-hadron decays are selected in the J/psi pi(+)pi(-) decay mode. Describing the lineshape with a Breit-Wigner function, the mass splitting between the chi(c1 )(3872) and psi(2S) states, Delta m, and the width of the chi(c1 )(3872) state, Gamma(Bw), are determined to be (Delta m=185.598 +/- 0.067 +/- 0.068 Mev,)(Gamma BW=1.39 +/- 0.24 +/- 0.10 Mev,) where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Using a Flatte-inspired model, the mode and full width at half maximum of the lineshape are determined to be (mode=3871.69+0.00+0.05 MeV.)(FWHM=0.22-0.04+0.13+0.07+0.11-0.06-0.13 MeV, ) An investigation of the analytic structure of the Flatte amplitude reveals a pole structure, which is compatible with a quasibound D-0(D) over bar*(0) state but a quasivirtual state is still allowed at the level of 2 standard deviations
Measurement of the CKM angle in and decays with
A measurement of -violating observables is performed using the decays

The LHCb upgrade I
The LHCb upgrade represents a major change of the experiment. The detectors have been almost completely renewed to allow running at an instantaneous luminosity five times larger than that of the previous running periods. Readout of all detectors into an all-software trigger is central to the new design, facilitating the reconstruction of events at the maximum LHC interaction rate, and their selection in real time. The experiment's tracking system has been completely upgraded with a new pixel vertex detector, a silicon tracker upstream of the dipole magnet and three scintillating fibre tracking stations downstream of the magnet. The whole photon detection system of the RICH detectors has been renewed and the readout electronics of the calorimeter and muon systems have been fully overhauled. The first stage of the all-software trigger is implemented on a GPU farm. The output of the trigger provides a combination of totally reconstructed physics objects, such as tracks and vertices, ready for final analysis, and of entire events which need further offline reprocessing. This scheme required a complete revision of the computing model and rewriting of the experiment's software
Measurement of CP asymmetries and branching fraction ratios of Bâ decays to two charm mesons
The asymmetries of seven decays to two charm mesons are measured using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment. Decays involving a or meson are analysed by reconstructing only the or decay products. This paper presents the first measurement of and , and the most precise measurement of the other five asymmetries. There is no evidence of violation in any of the analysed decays. Additionally, two ratios between branching fractions of selected decays are measured. The CP asymmetries of seven B decays to two charm mesons are measured using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb of proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment.
