Paper Session III-B - Utilization of Common Pressurized Modules of Space Station Freedom
Typical of past space projects following preliminary design review, most of the major Space Station critical subsystems will be required to reduce costs, weight, and power consumption prior to flight article hardware production. One such subsystem consists of the pressurized modules which provide the environment in which the crew members live and work. The current baseline station has two types of U.S. pressurized vessels: four resource nodes, and two modules 44 feet in length which must be transported to orbit nearly empty due to structural weight alone. Thus, user and system racks must be outfitted on-orbit rather than integrated on the ground.
In this feasibility study, a shorter common pressurized module concept is assessed. The size, transportation, location, and accommodation of system racks and user experiments are considered and compared to baseline. It is shown that the total number of flights required for station assembly can be reduced, assuming both nominal Space Shuttle capacity, as well as Advanced Solid Rocket Motor capability. Baseline module requirements regarding crew size and rack accommodation are preserved. Considering the criteria listed above and current weight estimates, a six module option appears optimal. The resulting common module is 28 feet in length, and, in addition to two end cones, contains three radial ports near one end, which allows for a racetrack configuration pattern. This pattern exhibits several desirable attributes, including dual egress capability from any U.S. module, logical functional allocation distribution, no adverse impact to international partner accommodation, and favorable air lock, cupola, Assured Crew Return Vehicle, and logistics module accommodation
Utilization of common pressurized modules on the Space Station Freedom
During the preliminary design review of Space Station Freedom elements and subsystems, it was shown that reductions of cost, weight, and on-orbit integration and verification would be necessary in order to meet program constraints, particularly nominal Orbiter payload launch capability. At that time, the Baseline station consisted of four resource nodes and two 44 ft modules. In this study, the viability of a common module which maintains crew and payload accommodation is assessed. The size, transportation, and orientation of modules and the accommodation of system racks and user experiments are considered and compared to baseline. Based on available weight estimates, a module pattern consisting of six 28 ft. common elements with three radial and two end ports is shown to be nearly optimal. Advantageous characteristics include a reduction in assembly flights, dual egress from all elements, logical functional allocation, no adverse impacts to international partners, favorable airlock, cupola, ACRV (Assured Crew Return Vehicle), and logistics module accommodation, and desirable flight attitude and control characteristics

Perkembangan media sosial menjadikan media sosial
sebagai salah satu media pengambilan data yang besar. Salah
satu pemanfaatan dari data media sosial adalah untuk
mengetahui pendapat atau sentimen pengguna media sosial
terhadap suatu topik dan masalah. Topik penting yang
dibicarakan oleh pengguna jejaring sosial adalah provider
telekomunikasi. Masyarakat dapat mengungkapkan pendapat,
pernyataan, maupun tanggapan tentang provider telekomunikasi
melalui internet terkhusus jejaring sosial. Pendapat
masyarakat melalui Twitter disampaikan dengan cara memposting
tweets. Postingan tweets tersebut dapat dilakukan
analisis sentimen terhadap topik provider telekomunikasi.
Analisis sentimen adalah salah satu cabang penelitian
dari Text Mining yang berguna untuk mengklasifikasikan
dokumen teks berupa opini berdasarkan sentimen. Pendapat
tentang provider telekomunikasi dikumpulkan dan dijadikan
sebagai data untuk dianalisis dan diamati. Salah satu
pembelajaran mesin untuk analisis sentimen adalah Naïve
Bayes Classifier (NBC). Metode Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC)
terkenal dengan metode yang sederhana tetapi memiliki
keakuratan yang tinggi dalam kasus analisis sentimen berupa
dokumen dibandingkan SVM.

Parity transitions in the superconducting ground state of hybrid InSb-Al Coulomb islands
The number of electrons in small metallic or semiconducting islands is
quantized. When tunnelling is enabled via opaque barriers this number can
change by an integer. In superconductors the addition is in units of two
electron charges (2e), reflecting that the Cooper pair condensate must have an
even parity. This ground state (GS) is foundational for all superconducting
qubit devices. Here, we study a hybrid superconducting-semiconducting island
and find three typical GS evolutions in a parallel magnetic field: a robust
2e-periodic even-parity GS, a transition to a 2e-periodic odd-parity GS,and a
transition from a 2e- to a 1e-periodic GS. The 2e-periodic odd-parity GS
persistent in gate-voltage occurs when a spin-resolved subgap state crosses
zero energy. For our 1e-periodic GSs we explicitly show the origin being a
single zero-energy state gapped from the continuum, i.e. compatible with an
Andreev bound states stabilized at zero energy or the presence of Majorana zero
modes
Doxorubicin-induced DNA Damage Causes Extensive Ubiquitination of Ribosomal Proteins Associated with a Decrease in Protein Translation
Protein posttranslational modifications (PTMs) play a central role in the DNA damage response. In particular, protein phosphorylation and ubiquitination have been shown to be essential in the signaling cascade that coordinates break repair with cell cycle progression. Here, we performed whole-cell quantitative proteomics to identify global changes in protein ubiquitination that are induced by DNA double-strand breaks. In total, we quantified more than 9,400 ubiquitin sites and found that the relative abundance of similar to 10% of these sites was altered in response to DNA double-strand breaks. Interestingly, a large proportion of ribosomal proteins, including those from the 40S as well as the 60S subunit, were ubiquitinated in response to DNA damage. In parallel, we discovered that DNA damage leads to the inhibition of ribosome function. A large fraction of HLA class I ligands are proteasome-generated spliced peptides
The proteasome generates the epitopes presented on human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I molecules that elicit CD8(+) T cell responses. Reports of proteasome-generated spliced epitopes exist, but they have been regarded as rare events. Here, however, we show that the proteasome-generated spliced peptide pool accounts for one-third of the entire HLA class I immunopeptidome in terms of diversity and one-fourth in terms of abundance. This pool also represents a unique set of antigens, possessing particular and distinguishing features. We validated this observation using a range of complementary experimental and bioinformatics approaches, as well as multiple cell types. The widespread appearance and abundance of proteasome-catalyzed peptide splicing events has implications for immunobiology and autoimmunity theories and may provide a previously untapped source of epitopes for use in vaccines and cancer immunotherapy
Peeling the Otolith of Fish: Optimal Parameterization for Micro-CT Scanning
In this paper, we aim to provide optimal parameters for micro-computed tomography scans of fish otoliths. We tested fifteen different combinations to sagittae. The images were scaled to Hounsfield units, and segmented in two distinct volumes-of-interest (external and internal). The strategy we applied, for identifying optimum scan settings for otoliths, included analyses of the sinogram, the distribution of the Hounsfield units and the signal-to-noise ratio. Based on these tests, the optimum sets of parameters for the acquisition of tomographic images of sagittal otoilths were 80 kV, 220 μA, and 0.5 mm aluminum filter. The method allowed 3D shape analysis, internal and external density distribution, layer-by-layer density segmentation, and a potential objective method to count growth rings in otoliths. It was possible to compare mean densities between species, and we observed a significant difference among them. In addition, there are ontogenic changes, which could be increasing or decreasing the density. In this study, we applied tomography for several otolith analysis, that could be of great interest for future studies in diverse areas that use otoliths as the basic structure of analysis, or represents a new research line called eco-densitometry of otoliths, where tomography could be applied to explore the density within an ecological perspective.Fil: Vasconcelos Filho, Jonas.
