Synthesis of the Piacenzian onshore record between the Aveiro and Setubal parallels (Western portuguese margin)
Onshore, the Piacenzianof the Mondego and Lower Tagus Tertiary basins comprises siliciclastic sediments deposited in shallow
marine to continental environments. The outcrops of the deposits are relatively widespread in the Aveiro and Seuibal region. A
lithostratigraphic synthesis based on the correlation of geological sections, is presented for the two basins. In general, the Piacenzian
sediments display a regressive sucession. The Late Tortonian-Zanclean (?) confined drainage pattern changed at the beginning of
Piazencian, to fluvial systems draining to the Atlantic, and capturing the drainage of the inner parts of the Hesperic Meseta.
The Piacenzian sedimentary sequence post-dates one of the uprising phases during Neogene compression, recorded by a strong
regional unconformity. Some local active faulting - as in Lousa, Rio Maior and Senibal- Pinhal Novo - allowed the local thickening
of the sedimentary record. Later compressive tectonism continues to generate reverse faulting and diapiric reactivation, affecting those
sediments. Currently, the Piacenzian deposits culminates the marginal piedmonts, widely eroded by the Quaternary fluvial dissection
Impact of composition and morphology on the optical properties of Si-NC/P3HT thin films processed from solution
Blends of Si nanocrystals (Si-NCs) and organic semiconductors are promising materials for new optical and electronic devices processed from solutions. Here, we study how the optical properties of composite films containing Si-NCs and the organic semiconductor poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) are influenced by the composition and morphology resulting from different solution-processing parameters and different solvents used dichlorobenzene vs. chloroform).
The optical spectra of the hybrid films are described using a simple phenomenological model, with which we can discern the contribution of each material in the films to
the optical properties. From this analysis, we obtain quantitative information about the composition and morphology of the hybrid nanostructured films, which otherwise would be obtained from more demanding microscopy and spectroscopy techniques. For the case of the Si-NC/P3HT blend, we find that in films deposited from dichlorobenzene solutions the Si-NCs contribute sizably to light absorption. This work was funded by FCT/I3N via the HybridSolar project, by the DFG via Teilprojekt B2 and by the European Union and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia in the framework of an Objective 2 Programme (European Regional Development Fund, ERDF). Behavior of the training load, recovery and well-being in volleyball professional athletes in weeks with and without matches
The aim of this study was to compare the internal training load, recovery state and the well-being of volleyball professional athletes, according to the number of matches during the week. The recovery was quantified with TQR Scale, the training load with sRPE and the well-being with QBE Scale. The ANOVA was applied for repeated measures in order to compare the values of Total weekly training load, the delta of Total Quality Recovery (ΔTQR) and the delta of the quality of well-being (ΔQBE),. There was no significant difference among the training load and the frequency of weekly games, but the effect size was very high when it was compared to the difference between one and two weekly games, as well as any and two games in a week. There were differences on the ΔTQR between weeks without games and with two games, as well as weeks with one and two matches. The ΔQBE was different for weeks in which there was no game and those with matches, regardless of the frequency. It was concluded that, even if there is no variation of loads in different weekly frequency of matches, the athletes' recovery and well-being change.Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educació

Portuguese recommendations for the use of biological therapies in patients with psoriatic arthritis - 2015 update
OBJECTIVE: To update recommendationsforthe treatment
of psoriatic arthritis with biological therapies, endorsed
by the Portuguese Society of Rheumatology (SPR).
METHODS: These treatment recommendations were formulated
by Portuguese rheumatologists based on literature
evidence and consensus opinion. At a national
meeting the 16 recommendations included in this
document were discussed and updated. The level of
agreement among Portuguese Rheumatologists was assessed
using an online survey. A draft of the full text of
the recommendations was then circulated and suggestions
were incorporated. A final version was again circulated
before publication.
RESULTS: A consensus was achieved regarding the initiation,
assessment of response and switching biological
therapies in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA).
Specific recommendations were developed for several
disease domains: peripheral arthritis, axial disease, enthesitis
and dactylitis.
CONCLUSION: These recommendations may be used for
guidance in deciding which patients with PsA should be
treated with biological therapies. They cover a rapidly
evolving area oftherapeutic intervention.Asmore evidence
becomes available and more biological therapies are licensed,
these recommendations will have to be updated
The Fourteenth Data Release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: First Spectroscopic Data from the extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey and from the second phase of the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment
The fourth generation of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV) has been in
operation since July 2014. This paper describes the second data release from
this phase, and the fourteenth from SDSS overall (making this, Data Release
Fourteen or DR14). This release makes public data taken by SDSS-IV in its first
two years of operation (July 2014-2016). Like all previous SDSS releases, DR14
is cumulative, including the most recent reductions and calibrations of all
data taken by SDSS since the first phase began operations in 2000. New in DR14
is the first public release of data from the extended Baryon Oscillation
Spectroscopic Survey (eBOSS); the first data from the second phase of the
Apache Point Observatory (APO) Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE-2),
including stellar parameter estimates from an innovative data driven machine
learning algorithm known as "The Cannon"; and almost twice as many data cubes
from the Mapping Nearby Galaxies at APO (MaNGA) survey as were in the previous
release (N = 2812 in total). This paper describes the location and format of
the publicly available data from SDSS-IV surveys. We provide references to the
important technical papers describing how these data have been taken (both
targeting and observation details) and processed for scientific use. The SDSS
website (www.sdss.org) has been updated for this release, and provides links to
data downloads, as well as tutorials and examples of data use. SDSS-IV is
planning to continue to collect astronomical data until 2020, and will be
followed by SDSS-V.Comment: SDSS-IV collaboration alphabetical author data release paper. DR14
