Estsitalopraami efektiivsus depressiooni ravis võrrelduna konventsionaalsete selektiivsete serotoniini tagasihaarde inhibiitorite ja venlafaksiin XRiga: metaanalüüs
Estsitalopraam on kõige selektiivsem selektiivsete serotoniini tagasihaarde inhibiitorite rühma kuuluv antidepressant. Varasemad uuringud on näidanud, et estsitalopraam on oma toimelt tõhusam kui tsitalopraam. Artiklis on antud ülevaade metaanalüüsi uuringutest, milles estsitalopraami võrreldi teiste antidepressantidega (tsitalopraam, fluoksetiin, paroksetiin, sertraliin ja venlafaksiin XR). Estsitalopraam oli efektiivsem kui kõik teised võrdlusravimid nii üldise raviefekti, ravile reageerimise määra kui ka remissiooni saavutamise määra poolest. Eri ravimirühmade analüüs näitas, et estsitalopraam oli oluliselt tõhusam kui konventsionaalsed SSRId ja võrdväärne venlafaksiiniga, ehkki uuringu üldised tulemused ei näita tingimata, et estsitalopraam oleks oluliselt efektiivsem kui iga SSRI eraldi. Sarnased tulemused leiti ka raske depressiooniga patsientide seas.

Final Report for Full-Scale Load Monitoring of Rubble Mound Breakwaters:description of work completed by Aalborg University
Grain size limits derived from 3.6 {\mu}m and 4.5 {\mu}m coreshine
Recently discovered scattered light from molecular cloud cores in the
wavelength range 3-5 {\mu}m (called "coreshine") seems to indicate the presence
of grains with sizes above 0.5 {\mu}m. We aim to analyze 3.6 and 4.5 {\mu}m
coreshine from molecular cloud cores to probe the largest grains in the size
distribution. We analyzed dedicated deep Cycle 9 Spitzer IRAC observations in
the 3.6 and 4.5 {\mu}m bands for a sample of 10 low-mass cores. We used a new
modeling approach based on a combination of ratios of the two background- and
foreground-subtracted surface brightnesses and observed limits of the optical
depth. The dust grains were modeled as ice-coated silicate and carbonaceous
spheres. We discuss the impact of local radiation fields with a spectral slope
differing from what is seen in the DIRBE allsky maps. For the cores L260,
ecc806, L1262, L1517A, L1512, and L1544, the model reproduces the data with
maximum grain sizes around 0.9, 0.5, 0.65, 1.5, 0.6, and > 1.5 {\mu}m,
respectively. The maximum coreshine intensities of L1506C, L1439, and L1498 in
the individual bands require smaller maximum grain sizes than derived from the
observed distribution of band ratios. Additional isotropic local radiation
fields with a spectral shape differing from the DIRBE map shape do not remove
this discrepancy. In the case of Rho Oph 9, we were unable to reliably
disentangle the coreshine emission from background variations and the strong
local PAH emission. Considering surface brightness ratios in the 3.6 and 4.5
{\mu}m bands across a molecular cloud core is an effective method of
disentangling the complex interplay of structure and opacities when used in

Eculizumab improves fatigue in refractory generalized myasthenia gravis
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of eculizumab on perceived fatigue in patients with anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody-positive, refractory, generalized myasthenia gravis (MG) using the Quality of Life in Neurological Disorders (Neuro-QOL) Fatigue subscale, and to evaluate correlations between improvements in Neuro-QOL Fatigue and other clinical endpoints.
Methods: Neuro-QOL Fatigue, MG Activities of Daily Living (MG-ADL), Quantitative MG (QMG), and the 15-item MG Quality of Life (MG-QOL15) scales were administered during the phase 3, randomized, placebo-controlled REGAIN study (eculizumab, n=62; placebo, n=63) and subsequent open-label extension (OLE). Data were analyzed using repeated-measures models. Correlations between changes in Neuro-QOL Fatigue and in MG-ADL, QMG, and MG-QOL15 scores were determined at REGAIN week 26.
Results: At REGAIN week 26, eculizumab-treated patients showed significantly greater improvements in Neuro-QOL Fatigue scores than placebo-treated patients (consistent with improvements in MG-ADL, QMG, and MG-QOL15 scores previously reported in REGAIN). Improvements with eculizumab were sustained through OLE week 52. Correlations between Neuro-QOL Fatigue and MG-QOL15, MG-ADL, and QMG scores were strong for eculizumab-treated patients at REGAIN week 26, and strong, moderate, and weak, respectively, for placebo-treated patients.
Conclusions: Compared with placebo, eculizumab was associated with improvements in perceived fatigue that strongly correlated with improvements in MG-specific outcome measures
The shape and composition of interstellar silicate grains
We investigate the composition and shape distribution of silicate dust grains
in the interstellar medium. The effect of the amount of magnesium in the
silicate lattice is studied. We fit the spectral shape of the interstellar 10
mu extinction feature as observed towards the galactic center. We use very
irregularly shaped coated and non-coated porous Gaussian Random Field particles
as well as a statistical approach to model shape effects. For the dust
materials we use amorphous and crystalline silicates with various composition
and SiC. The results of our analysis of the 10 mu feature are used to compute
the shape of the 20 mu silicate feature and to compare this with observations.
By using realistic particle shapes we are, for the first time, able to derive
the magnesium fraction in interstellar silicates. We find that the interstellar
silicates are highly magnesium rich (Mg/(Fe+Mg)>0.9) and that the stoichiometry
lies between pyroxene and olivine type silicates. This composition is not
consistent with that of the glassy material found in GEMS in interplanetary
dust particles indicating that these are, in general, not unprocessed remnants
from the interstellar medium. Also, we find a significant fraction of SiC
(~3%). We discuss the implications of our results for the formation and
evolutionary history of cometary and circumstellar dust. We argue that the fact
that crystalline silicates in cometary and circumstellar grains are almost
purely magnesium silicates is a natural consequence of our findings that the
amorphous silicates from which they were formed were already magnesium rich.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&

Analysis of the dust evolution in the circumstellar disks of TTauri stars
We present a compositional analysis of 8-13um spectra of 32 young stellar
objects (YSOs). Our sample consists of 5 intermediate-mass stars and 27
low-mass stars. While the spectra and first scientific results have already
been published by Przygodda et al. (2003) and Kessler-Silacci et al. (2004) we
perform a more detailed analysis of the 10um silicate feature. In our analysis
we assume that this emission feature can be represented by a linear
superposition of the wavelength-dependent opacity
describing the optical properties of silicate grains with different chemical
composition, structure, and grain size. The determination of an adequate
fitting equation is another goal of this study. Using a restricted number of
fitting parameters we investigate which silicate species are necessary for the
compositional fitting. Particles with radii of 0.1um- and 1.5um consisting of
amorphous olivine and pyroxene, forsterite, enstatite, and quartz have been
considered. Only compact, homogeneous dust grains have been used in the
presented fitting procedures. In this context we show that acceptable fitting
results can also be achieved if emission properties of porous silicate grains
are considered instead. Although some previous studies give reasons for the
similarity between the dust in circumstellar disks of TTauri stars and Herbig
Ae/Be stars, a quantitative comparison has been missing, so far. Therefore, we
conclude with a discussion of the results of a 10um spectroscopic survey of van
Boekel et al. (2005) who focus on Herbig Ae/Be stars, the higher mass
counterparts of T Tauri stars and draw comparisons to this and other studies.
We find that the results of our study of T Tauri systems partly agree with

The epsilon Chamaeleontis young stellar group and the characterization of sparse stellar clusters
We present the outcomes of a Chandra X-ray Observatory snapshot study of five
nearby Herbig Ae/Be (HAeBe) stars which are kinematically linked with the
Oph-Sco-Cen Association (OSCA). Optical photometric and spectroscopic followup
was conducted for the HD 104237 field. The principal result is the discovery of
a compact group of pre-main sequence (PMS) stars associated with HD 104237 and
its codistant, comoving B9 neighbor epsilon Chamaeleontis AB. We name the group
after the most massive member. The group has five confirmed stellar systems
ranging from spectral type B9-M5, including a remarkably high degree of
multiplicity for HD 104237 itself. The HD 104237 system is at least a quintet
with four low mass PMS companions in nonhierarchical orbits within a projected
separation of 1500 AU of the HAeBe primary. Two of the low-mass members of the
group are actively accreting classical T Tauri stars. The Chandra observations
also increase the census of companions for two of the other four HAeBe stars,
HD 141569 and HD 150193, and identify several additional new members of the
OSCA.
We discuss this work in light of several theoretical issues: the origin of
X-rays from HAeBe stars; the uneventful dynamical history of the
high-multiplicity HD 104237 system; and the origin of the epsilon Cha group and
other OSCA outlying groups in the context of turbulent giant molecular clouds.
Together with the similar eta Cha cluster, we paint a portrait of sparse
stellar clusters dominated by intermediate-mass stars 5-10 Myr after their

The role of E1-E2 interplay in multiphonon Coulomb excitation
In this work we study the problem of a charged particle, bound in a
harmonic-oscillator potential, being excited by the Coulomb field from a fast
charged projectile. Based on a classical solution to the problem and using the
squeezed-state formalism we are able to treat exactly both dipole and
quadrupole Coulomb field components. Addressing various transition amplitudes
and processes of multiphonon excitation we study different aspects resulting
from the interplay between E1 and E2 fields, ranging from classical dynamic
polarization effects to questions of quantum interference. We compare exact
calculations with approximate methods. Results of this work and the formalism
we present can be useful in studies of nuclear reaction physics and in atomic
