Translation has been present from the beginning of times, when two cultures tried to communicate with each other and their languages were different, they needed a way of doing it. In every culture there are instances of humor, as it is part of the human nature. So, the translation of humor is an important field that needs to be studied more in depth, as there is only a small number of works dealing with it. In this work, we aim to study some aspects of this field by analyzing the dubbed versions of two movies. We will focus on what has been translated and how they have done it. Then, analyze the translations from a diachronic perspective to see the evolution that the translation of humor has suffered.

    Computing Hypercircles by Moving Hyperplanes

Let K be a field of characteristic zero, alpha algebraic of degree n over K. Given a proper parametrization psi of a rational curve C, we present a new algorithm to compute the hypercircle associated to the parametrization psi. As a consequence, we can decide if the curve C is defined over K and, if not, to compute the minimum field of definition of C containing K. The algorithm exploits the conjugate curves of C but avoids computation in the normal closure of K(alpha) over K.Comment: 16 page

Didactic proposal for the use of dramatic methodologies in language teaching

    Get PDF
The present dissertation deals with the use of a dramatic methodology – mix of theatre and drama activities – for the teaching of English as a foreign language. The didactic proposal created for this consists in designing a series of activities in which students practice the five linguistic skills: speaking, listening, writing, reading and interaction. Through this methodology, students are encouraged to use the language while seeing themselves in real-life situations but having to act as someone else. For this proposal, the whole school year is needed, and it is divided into three parts, all of them focused on the final task, which is representing a play. So, apart from the dramatic one, a Task-Based Language Teaching approach has been followed. The main competence that students practice when following this proposal is the communicative one, but also others such as entrepreneurship, digital competence or learning how to learn.

This study was conducted with the purpose of analyzing the combined and mediating effect of actor's withdrawal-partner's demand conflict resolution strategies between avoidance attachment dimension and relationship satisfaction. We conducted a dyadic study with 175 heterosexual couples (aged between 18 and 72 years) who filled in the questionnaires. Six hypotheses were tested using the actor-partner interdependence model with mediation analysis (APIMeM). Results showed that the avoidance dimension of attachment was more strongly associated with actor's withdrawal strategy than with demand/aggression strategy. Furthermore, avoidance attachment was negatively associated with both actor's and partner's relationship satisfaction, the actor effect being higher. Withdrawal strategy was a mediator between actor's avoidance and actor's relationship satisfaction, but it was not a mediator for partner's relationship satisfaction. The interactive pattern of actor's withdrawal-partner's demand/aggression was associated with low levels of both actor's and partner's relationship satisfaction. These results point out to the need of discerning the interactive pattern of conflict-solving strategies as well as their intertwined effect on relationship satisfaction. This research was supported by a predoctoral grant from the Education Department of the Basque Government (PRE_2016_1_0138) awarded to IB under IA-A's supervision, two grants by Basque Government Research Groups ("Culture, Cognition, and Emotion" Consolidated Group, IT1187-19 and IT1598-22), and a grant by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation ("Culture, coping, and emotional regulation: well-being and community coping"; PID2020-115738GB-I0)

Recognition of facial expression of emotions in Parkinson’s disease: a theoretical review

Aim. To examine facial expression recognition abilities and their possible impairment in Parkinson’s disease. Development. First, we review the studies on this topic which have not found entirely similar results. Second, we analyze the factors that may explain these discrepancies and, in particular, as third objective, we consider the relationship between emotional recognition problems and cognitive impairment associated with the disease. Finally, we propose alternatives strategies for the development of studies that could clarify the state of these abilities in Parkinson’s disease. Conclusions. Most studies suggest deficits in facial expression recognition, especially in those with negative emotional content. However, it is possible that these alterations are related to those that also appear in the course of the disease in other perceptual and executive processes. To advance in this issue, we consider necessary to design emotional recognition studies implicating differentially the executive or visuospatial processes, and/or contrasting cognitive abilities with facial expressions and non emotional stimuli. The precision of the status of these abilities, as well as increase our knowledge of the functional consequences of the characteristic brain damage in the disease, may indicate if we should pay special attention in their rehabilitation inside the programs implementedProyecto ref. La crisis del Banco Popular: resolución bancaria y principales afectados

    Get PDF
Además, profundizaremos en cómo afectó este proceso de resolución de la entidad a los inversores y si se ha podido resolver su situaciónDespite the apparently positive period that the Spanish economy was going through until 2007, the international financial crisis caused Spain to enter a deceleration phase that had an impact on the financial sector, deteriorating it and highlighting the need for its reform. For this reason, a restructuring process began, subjecting financial entities to a regulatory process that would prevent their bankruptcy. In this case, we will analyze how this process affected financial entities and, more specifically, Banco Popular, which was the first entity in which the new bank restructuring mechanisms were applied. In addition, we will delve into how the resolution process of this entity affected investors and if their situation has been resolvedDepartamento de Derecho Mercantil, del Trabajo e Internacional PrivadoGrado en Economí

High strength stainless steel 14301 for prestressed concrete structures protection

    Get PDF
High Strength Stainless Steels (HSSS) are being developed with the aim to improve corrosion resistance of prestressed concrete structures in aggressive environments. In the present paper focus is given to mechanical and corrosion performance of a HSSS type 14301. The ability of passivation in alkaline media and the risk of local corrosion (pitting) in presence of chlorides, has been determined. Besides, the response of the stainless steel submitted to mechanical strains similar to those in service is considered with respect to the risk of corrosion, Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) and Hydrogen Embrittlement (HE). The cold-drawn HSSS 14301 shows higher tolerance to chloride ion than conventional prestressing steel. The local corrosion becomes significant for chloride contents above 0.75 M. The applied load moves pitting corrosion initiation at lower concentrations of chlorides. The pitting enhances risk for SCC developing, although the steel is more resistance to HE in comparison with conventional presstressing ste

    On Tubular vs. Swung surfaces

We determine necessary and sufficient conditions for a tubular surface to be swung, and viceversa. From these characterizations, we derive two symbolic algorithms. The first one decides whether a given implicit equation, of a tubular surface, admits a swung parametrization and, in the affirmative case, it outputs such a parametrization. The second one decides whether a given swung surface parametrization is a tubular surface and, in the affirmative case, it outputs the implicit equation

Information activity in digital media: will print newspapers survive without advertising?

This crisis has accelerated printed press’ process to become online. ICT have transformed the information system both economically and productively. The dramatic decline in advertising revenues shakes the business model followed so far by media companies. We need new ways of financing, to allowe media survive. There are cases of new systems adopted for information activity to obtain profitability: from crowdfunding to ecommerce, supported in media audiences. All this makes us question the future of the media, in the way as they have been understood as information companies untill now
