    Web based geo-information systems: case study in Smmanthurai divisional secretary division

    Geographical Information Systems are widely used tools for analyzing, processing and visualizing of geo-data. The new medium of the World Wide Web (WWW) provides a big platform to publish GIS maps to a large number of users. This new application characteristic can be called web GIS. Since the amount of spatio-temporal data stored in databases and GIS increased enormously, web GIS applications become a promising tool to display these data to a broad audience. How these datasets are displayed technically depends on the applied visualization method. One of the most important powers of GIS is the capability to publish and share geo-spatial information on the Internet among large numbers of people. Sharing of geospatial information is an important and effective way of working in many kinds of applications. Geo-spatial information includes not only maps or locations of landmarks/facilities, but multiple attribute data, socio-economic data, ground photos, aerial photographs, satellite images, etc., which may have static or dynamic characteristics. By sharing this information on the Internet, accessibility, time response, and understandability are drastically improved compared to conventional paper distribution of maps or character based Web systems. Users will have more freedom to choose information or layers to see and synthesize maps that will fit their own requirements

    Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Polyethylene/Doped-TiO 2

    Ethylene polymerization was carried out using highly active metallocene catalysts (Cp2ZrCl2 and Cp2TiCl2) in combination with methylaluminoxane. Titanium (IV) oxide containing 1% Mn as dopant was used as nanofillers. The effects of filler concentration, reaction temperature, and pressure on the thermal and mechanical properties of polymer were analyzed. The improvement of nanoparticles dispersion in the polyethylene matrix was checked by WAXD. The thermal properties were analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The filler impact on the melting temperature of polyethylene synthesized using Cp2ZrCl2 was very minimal which is due to the degree of short-chain branching. The ash content was also analyzed for each nanocomposite and found to be in line with the activity of the catalyst.     The development of advanced polymer composite materials having superior mechanical properties has opened up new horizons in the field of science and engineering. Polyethylene (PE) is considered one of the most widely used thermoplastics in the world due to its excellent properties which have excellent chemical inertness, low coefficient of friction, toughness, near-zero moisture absorption, ease of processing and electrical properties. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are garnering increasing attention in the biodegradable polymer market because of their promising properties such as high biodegradability in different environments. This chapter covers polyethylene/polyhydroxyalkanoates-based biocomposites and bionanocomposites. It summarizes many of the recent research accomplishments in the area of PE/PHAs-based biocomposites and bionanocomposites such as state-of-the-art regarding different methods of their preparation. Also discussed are different characterization techniques and use of PE/PHAs-based biocomposites and bionanocomposites in biomedical, packaging, structural, military, coating, fire retardant, aerospace and optical applications, along with recycling and lifetime studies

    <div><p>Cyanobacterial KnowledgeBase (CKB) is a free access database that contains the genomic and proteomic information of 74 fully sequenced cyanobacterial genomes belonging to seven orders. The database also contains tools for sequence analysis. The Species report and the gene report provide details about each species and gene (including sequence features and gene ontology annotations) respectively. The database also includes cyanoBLAST, an advanced tool that facilitates comparative analysis, among cyanobacterial genomes and genomes of <i>E</i>. <i>coli</i> (prokaryote) and <i>Arabidopsis</i> (eukaryote). The database is developed and maintained by the Sub-Distributed Informatics Centre (<i>sponsored by</i> the Department of Biotechnology, <i>Govt</i>. <i>of India</i>) of the National Facility for Marine Cyanobacteria, a facility dedicated to marine cyanobacterial research.
