Linearizing N = 3 nonlinear supersymmetry in two dimensions
We investigate for N = 3 supersymmetry (SUSY) in D = 2 the algebraic relation
between the Volkov-Akulov (VA) model of nonlinear (NL) SUSY and a
(renormalizable) SO(3) vector supermultiplet of linear (L) SUSY. We derive SUSY
and SO(3) invariant relations between component fields of the vector
supermultiplet and Nambu-Goldstone (NG) fermions of the VA model at leading
orders by using three arbitrary dimensionless parameters which can be recasted
as the vacuum expectation values of auxiliary fields in the vector
supermultiplet. Two different irreducible representations of SO(3)
super-Poincar\'e symmetry which appear in the same massless state are
compatible with each other in the linearization of NL SUSY. The equivalence of
a NL SUSY VA action to a free L SUSY action containing the Fayet-Iliopoulos
(FI) D term which indicates a spontaneously SUSY breaking is also discussed
explicitly according to the SUSY invariant relations.Comment: 7 pages, Late

Recent results of high-energy spin phenomena of gluons and sea-quarks in polarized proton-proton collisions at RHIC at BNL
The STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider at Brookhaven
National Laboratory is carrying out a spin physics program in high-energy
polarized proton collisions at GeV and GeV to
gain a deeper insight into the spin structure and dynamics of the proton.
One of the main objectives of the spin physics program at RHIC is the precise
determination of the polarized gluon distribution function. The STAR detector
is well suited for the reconstruction of various final states involving jets,
, , e and , which allows to measure several
different processes. Recent results suggest a gluon spin contribution to the
proton spin at the same level as the quark spin contribution itself.
The production of bosons in polarized p+p collisions at
GeV opens a new era in the study of the spin-flavor structure
of the proton. bosons are produced in
collisions and can be detected through their leptonic decays,
, where only the respective charged
lepton is measured. Results of production suggest a large asymmetry
between the polarization of anti- and anti- quarks.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures, Invited plenary talk at QCD Evolution Workshop

Volume Reflection Dependence of 400 GeV/c Protons on the Bent Crystal Curvature
41The trend of volume reflection parameters (deflection angle and efficiency) in a bent (110) silicon crystal has been investigated as a function of the crystal curvature with 400 GeV/c protons on the H8 beam line at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. This Letter describes the analysis performed at six different curvatures showing that the optimal radius for volume reflection is approximately 10 times greater than the critical radius for channeling. A strong scattering of the beam by the planar potential is also observed for a bend radius close to the critical one.openScandale W; Vomiero A; Baricordi S; Dalpiaz P; Fiorini M; Guidi V; Mazzolari A; Milan R; Della Mea G; Ambrosi G; Bertucci B; Burger WJ; Duranti M; Zuccon P; Cavoto G; Iacoangeli F; Luci C; Pisano S; Santacesaria R; Valente P; Vallazza E; Afonin AG; Chesnokov YA; Kotov VI; Maisheev VA; Yazynin IA; Kovalenko AD; Taratin AM; Denisov AS; Gavrikov YA; Ivanov YM; Lapina LP; Malyarenko LG; Skorobogatov VV; Suvorov VM; Vavilov SA; Bolognini D; Hasan S; Lietti D; Mozzanica A; Prest MScandale, W; Vomiero, A; Baricordi, S; Dalpiaz, P; Fiorini, M; Guidi, V; Mazzolari, A; Milan, R; Della Mea, G; Ambrosi, G; Bertucci, B; Burger, Wj; Duranti, M; Zuccon, P; Cavoto, G; Iacoangeli, F; Luci, C; Pisano, S; Santacesaria, R; Valente, P; Vallazza, E; Afonin, Ag; Chesnokov, Ya; Kotov, Vi; Maisheev, Va; Yazynin, Ia; Kovalenko, Ad; Taratin, Am; Denisov, As; Gavrikov, Ya; Ivanov, Ym; Lapina, Lp; Malyarenko, Lg; Skorobogatov, Vv; Suvorov, Vm; Vavilov, Sa; Bolognini, D; Hasan, S; Lietti, Daniela; Mozzanica, A; Prest, Michel
High-Efficiency Deflection of High-Energy Protons through Axial Channeling in a Bent Crystal
36Beam deflection due to axial channeling in a silicon crystal bent along the axis was observed with 400 GeV/c protons at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. The condition for doughnut scattering of protons by the atomic strings of the crystal was attained. Such a condition allowed one to observe a beam deflection of 50 mu rad with about 30% efficiency. The contribution of hyperchanneled states of protons to the observed beam deflection was less than 2% according to simulation results.openScandale W; Vomiero A; Baricordi S; Dalpiaz P; Fiorini M; Guidi V; Mazzolari A; Della Mea G; Milan R; Ambrosi G; Bertucci B; Burger WJ; Zuccon P; Cavoto G; Luci C; Santacesaria R; Valente P; Vallazza E; Afonin AG; Chesnokov YA; Maisheev VA; Yazynin IA; Kovalenko AD; Taratin AM; Denisov AS; Gavrikov YA; Ivanov YM; Lapina LP; Malyarenko LG; Skorobogatov VV; Suvorov VM; Vavilov SA; Bolognini D; Hasan S; Mozzanica A; Prest MScandale, W; Vomiero, A; Baricordi, S; Dalpiaz, P; Fiorini, M; Guidi, V; Mazzolari, A; Della Mea, G; Milan, R; Ambrosi, G; Bertucci, B; Burger, Wj; Zuccon, P; Cavoto, G; Luci, C; Santacesaria, R; Valente, P; Vallazza, E; Afonin, Ag; Chesnokov, Ya; Maisheev, Va; Yazynin, Ia; Kovalenko, Ad; Taratin, Am; Denisov, As; Gavrikov, Ya; Ivanov, Ym; Lapina, Lp; Malyarenko, Lg; Skorobogatov, Vv; Suvorov, Vm; Vavilov, Sa; Bolognini, D; Hasan, S; Mozzanica, A; Prest, Michel
Isotopic variation of parity violation in atomic ytterbium
We report on measurements of atomic parity violation, made on a chain of
ytterbium isotopes with mass numbers A=170, 172, 174, and 176. In the
experiment, we optically excite the 6s2 1S0 -> 5d6s 3D1 transition in a region
of crossed electric and magnetic fields, and observe the interference between
the Stark- and weak-interaction-induced transition amplitudes, by making field
reversals that change the handedness of the coordinate system. This allows us
to determine the ratio of the weak-interaction-induced electric-dipole (E1)
transition moment and the Stark-induced E1 moment. Our measurements, which are
at the 0.5% level of accuracy for three of the four isotopes measured, allow a
definitive observation of the isotopic variation of the weak-interaction
effects in an atom, which is found to be consistent with the prediction of the
Standard Model. In addition, our measurements provide information about an
additional Z' boson.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figures, 2 table
The article looks to analyze the influence of physical exercise and sporting activity, as a cultural model, on the process of building a personal bodily identity: in particular, that of a woman. This problematization should be seen in relation to the pedagogical approach that intends to explore and clarify under what conditions female sport can be defined educational and instructive, as part of a process whereby today's woman pursues emancipation and free and original expression
