Introducing the Sectoral Enterprise Architecture Framework (SEAF)

Multiple enterprise architecture (EA) frameworks have been proposed to guide the alignment of business and information technologies. However, existing EA approaches were not yet tested to represent (as-is) and steer (to-be) the digital transformation of an entire industry sector. This research-in-progress aims to create a Sectoral Enterprise Architecture Framework (SEAF) to support the ongoing digital transformation in industry. SEAF emerges from a design science research project in cooperation with a national refrigeration and air conditioning association. The initial results include the design of SEAF structure and its deployment in a vital industry sector interested in revealing data and digital technologies’ role in ensuring sustainability for the coming years. A sectoral EA framework can be helpful to the mission of industry associations, guiding companies in planning, implementing, and migrating new technologies suitable to their supply chain

Uranium(vi) trans-bis(imido) complexes [U(κ4-{(tBu2ArO)2Me2-cyclam})(NPh)(NPhR)] react with CO2 to eliminate phenyl isocyanates and afford uranium(vi) trans-[O[double bond, length as m-dash]U[double bond, length as m-dash]NR]2+ complexes, including [U(κ4-{(tBu2ArO)2Me2-cyclam})(NPh)(O)] that was crystallographically characterized. Do pouco mais que nada até ao coletivo orgânico (sobre o processo de criação do espetáculo Tem dói-dói?)

Dissertação de Mestrado, Comunicação, Cultura e Artes, Especialização em Teatro e Intervenção Social e Cultural, Faculdade de Ciências Humanas e Sociais, Universidade do Algarve, 2014Em Setembro de 2011 iniciei juntamente com três colegas, do curso de Mestrado em Comunicação, Cultura e Artes – Especialização em Teatro e Intervenção Cultural, um projeto de criação artística, orientado pelo professor António Branco, que tinha como objetivo a conceção e apresentação de um espetáculo teatral, que nos permitisse pôr em prática toda uma série de princípios éticos, técnicos e estéticos, que nos foram transmitidos no 1º ano do referido curso. Deste modo, o presente relatório pretende refletir a experiência artística realizada por este grupo; desde o momento inicial em que se decidiu qual o ponto de partida, que neste caso foi o livro O fio das Missangas, de Mia Couto, até à apresentação pública de um espetáculo de teatro, que se chamou Tem dói-dói?. O título do relatório reflete precisamente esse percurso, do pouco mais que nada, quando iniciámos a nossa busca, até ao coletivo orgânico, em que o nosso espetáculo se transformou. Este trabalho também acompanha o percurso de um aluno que, apesar de ter chegado ao Mestrado com cerca de onze anos de prática teatral, se vê a descobrir toda uma nova conceção de teatro, que o faz tomar consciência das limitações e erros da sua aprendizagem até àquele momento. São abordados, também, quatro conceitos, («Aquecimento», «Corresponsabilidade», «Disciplina» e «Ritual»), que integram o léxico da escola teatral que fundamenta as aprendizagens do referido Mestrado, a qual, por sua vez, se sustenta nos ensinamentos de grandes mestres do teatro, a saber, Antonin Artaut, Constantin Stanislavski, Jersy Grotowski, Bertolt Brecht, Gordon Craig, Fernando Amado, Adolfo Gutkin e Manuela de Freitas

Index-Based, High-Dimensional, Cosine Threshold Querying with Optimality Guarantees

Given a database of vectors, a cosine threshold query returns all vectors in the database having cosine similarity to a query vector above a given threshold. These queries arise naturally in many applications, such as document retrieval, image search, and mass spectrometry. The present paper considers the efficient evaluation of such queries, providing novel optimality guarantees and exhibiting good performance on real datasets. We take as a starting point Fagin\u27s well-known Threshold Algorithm (TA), which can be used to answer cosine threshold queries as follows: an inverted index is first built from the database vectors during pre-processing; at query time, the algorithm traverses the index partially to gather a set of candidate vectors to be later verified against the similarity threshold. However, directly applying TA in its raw form misses significant optimization opportunities. Indeed, we first show that one can take advantage of the fact that the vectors can be assumed to be normalized, to obtain an improved, tight stopping condition for index traversal and to efficiently compute it incrementally. Then we show that one can take advantage of data skewness to obtain better traversal strategies. In particular, we show a novel traversal strategy that exploits a common data skewness condition which holds in multiple domains including mass spectrometry, documents, and image databases. We show that under the skewness assumption, the new traversal strategy has a strong, near-optimal performance guarantee. The techniques developed in the paper are quite general since they can be applied to a large class of similarity functions beyond cosine

Estágio Profissional: O percurso de desenvolvimento profissional de um estudante estagiário.

O presente relatório expõe o trabalho efetuado ao longo do estágio em Ensino da Educação Física nos Ensinos Básico e Secundário desenvolvido numa escola sede de agrupamento, sendo orientado por um professor orientador (PO) da faculdade e um professor cooperante (PC) da escola cooperante. Neste relatório final ir-se-á apresentar todo o trabalho desenvolvido que se encontra definido nas linhas programáticas da prática de ensino supervisionada (PES). Serão referidas as mais valias e dificuldades que se encontraram ao longo deste período, análise que contribui para mostrar a evolução operada no estudante desde o início do estágio até à sua conclusão. Durante o ano letivo, foram vários os constrangimentos visto que, a partir do 2º período letivo, as aulas deixaram de ser presenciais e passaram a ser online, tendo o calendário escolar sido alterado o que levou à reformulação de todo o trabalho de programação já efetuado. Este constrangimento (pandemia) motivou a criação de um projeto, dinamizado pelo núcleo de estágio, intitulado ''vence pela turma''. Este projeto pretendia que os alunos desenvolvessem habilidades motoras referentes a diversas modalidades, bem como comportamentos psicossociais, embora os entraves pandémicos os inibissem de grandes contactos físicos. Assim, nasceu o meu projeto de investigação, constante na área 3 deste trabalho, com o título: ''Impacto educativo da participação dos alunos no projeto ''vence pela turma'''', onde é pretendido investigar qual o impacto do projeto na formação dos alunos. Além deste estudo, o presente relatório de estágio dá conta de tudo o que foi feito durante o ensino à distância, bem como as estratégias e dificuldades inerentes a este tipo de ensino, que para mim foi algo de inesperado e me deu capacidade de adaptação e criatividade. Os diferentes itens abordados neste documento devem ser vistos como meios para atingir um fim: a formação e evolução de um professor de educação física.This report presents the work done throughout the internship in Physical Education Teaching in Basic and Secondary Education developed in a grouping school, guided by a guiding teacher (GT) of the faculty and a cooperative teacher (CP) of the cooperative school. This final report will present all the work developed defined in the programmatic lines of supervised teaching practice (PES). The added value and difficulties encountered during this period will be mentioned, an analysis that shows the evolution operated in the student from the beginning of the internship to its completion. During the school year, there were several constraints since, from the 2nd school period, classes ceased to be in- person and started to be online, and the school calendar was changed, which led to the reformulation of all programming work already done. This embarrassment (pandemic) motivated the creation of a project, encourage by the internship nucleus, entitled ''wins by the class''. This project aimed students to develop motor skills related to various modalities and psychosocial behaviors, although the pandemics obstacles inhibited them from significant physical contact. Thus, my research project was born, constant in area 3 of this work, with the title: ''Educational impact of students participation in the project ''wins by the class'''', where it is intended to investigate the impact of the project on the training of students. In addition to this study, this internship report gives an account of everything that was done during distance learning and the strategies and difficulties inherent in this type of teaching, which was unexpected and gave me the ability to adapt and be creative. Structural integrity of polymeric components produced by additive manufacturing (Am)—polymer applications

Licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.In the work presented herein, the structural integrity of polymeric functional components made of Nylon-645 and Polylactic acid (PLA) produced by additive manufacturing (Fused Deposition Modelling, FDM) is studied. The PLA component under study was selected from the production line of a brewing company, and it was redesigned and analyzed using the Finite Element Method, 3D printed, and installed under real service. The results obtained indicated that, even though the durability of the 3D printed part was lower than the original, savings of about EUR 7000 a year could be achieved for the component studied. Moreover, it was shown that widespread use of AM with other specific PLA components could result in even more significant savings. Additionally, a metallic hanger (2700 kg/m3 ) from the cockpit of an airplane ATR 70 series 500 was successfully redesigned and additively manufactured in Nylon 645, resulting in a mass reduction of approximately 60% while maintaining its fit-for-purpose. Therefore, the components produced by FDM were used as fully functional components rather than prototype models, which is frequently stated as a major constraint of the FDM process.publishersversionpublishe

Nações e nacionalismos (a teoria, a história, a moral)

The article examines Benedict Anderson's contribution to studies of the nation and nationalism in the social and human sciences, taking as its pretext the reissue in Portuguese of his most well-known work, Imagined Communities. The text begins with a brief genealogical survey of studies of the nation and nationalism, which seeks to emphasize and question the relative disinterest that classical social theories devote to the idea of the nation and its specific forms of political, economic and sociocultural incorporation. Next it turns to the author's intellectual and civic career, contextualizing his interests and his analytic propositions, specifically in terms of the imagination of national identities and communities and their organization into nationalist movements, but also the notions of power and the virtualities and limits of the comparative method, and the role of ideas and cultural phenomena. Finally the text concludes with a critical and reflective exploration of the notions of imagination and community in Anderson's work, connecting their meanings, uses and appropriations with the historical, academic and political contexts of his intellectual career.O artigo aborda a contribuição de Benedict Anderson para os estudos da nação e do nacionalismo nas ciências sociais e humanas, tendo como pretexto a reedição, em língua portuguesa, da sua mais conhecida obra, Comunidades imaginadas. Num primeiro momento, procede-se a um breve inventário genealógico dos estudos sobre a nação e sobre o nacionalismo, que visa sublinhar e interrogar o relativo desinteresse que as teorias sociais clássicas devotaram à ideia de nação e às suas formas específicas de incorporação política, econômica e sociocultural. Num segundo momento, reflete-se sobre o percurso intelectual e cívico do autor, contextualizando os seus interesses e as suas propostas analíticas, nomeadamente no que diz respeito à imaginação das identidades e comunidades nacionais e à sua organização em movimentos nacionalistas, mas também às noções de poder e às virtualidades e limites do método comparativo, ao papel das ideias e dos fenômenos culturais. Num terceiro momento, explora-se, de um ponto de vista crítico e reflexivo, as noções de imaginação e de comunidade na sua obra, articulando os seus sentidos e os seus usos e apropriações com os contextos históricos, acadêmicos e políticos, do seu percurso intelectual
