Magnetic field simulation of golay coil

    Get PDF
In the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), besides the main magnetic field and the radio frequency (RF) system, the gradient coils system also plays an important role in signal acquisition. Generally, there are 2 transverse gradient coils and 1 longitudinal gradient coil. In this research, the magnetic field (or gradient) generated by the conventional transverse coil, namely the Golay coil was mapped. The calculation algorithm of the magnetic field generated was written in C-programming language, compiled by the GNU-compiler collection (GCC) and was based on a forward analytical approach by using the Biot-Savart Law. The data was then visualized by Gnuplot. The magnetic field was successfully calculated and plotted using open-source softwares running under Ubuntu operating system and will provide valuable data especially for gradient coil designe

The Development Of Fluxgate Magnetometer For Non-Destructive Measurement

    Get PDF
Non-Destructive measurements of ferromagnetic material and low frequency magnetic flux disturbance require a highly sensitive and stable magnetic sensor with directional capabilities. A magnetometer based on fluxgate princi ple that meets the requirement had been developed using a ferrite ring core. The ferrite ring core is excited by an excitation current source to achieve hysteresis condition. The pick up coil that is wound across the ring core will pick up the magnetic flux generated in the ring core. This sensing method is based on the conventional type of fluxgate magnetometer with detection of second harmonics by a phase sensitive detector. Major advantages of the fluxgate magnetometer are low cost, directional, easy to construct, reliable and rugged

The mathematical structure of a novel model for detecting the source of a magnetic field is presented. Simulation results show that the orientation of unbounded single current source can be determined with fairly accuracy. The model, FTTM, has the potential to be used for identifying the location of epileptic foci in epilepsy disorder patients

Detection Oil Palm Tree Growth Variability using Field Spectroradiometer

    Get PDF
An analysis of average annual yield of fresh bunches of oil palm fruit in Malaysia showed clearly that there is spatial and temporal variability in yield. Various factors – such as environment, genetics, management, biotic stress – that occur across oil palm growing areas are known to be the main factors that cause yield variation. These variability factors are normally determined through an analysis of in situ measurement of related parameters, including corresponding environmental information. Systematic and accurate information regarding factors affecting oil palm tree growth and yield variability, such as water stress and the nutrition status of oil palm trees, is required. However, such as an analysis technique is very costly, timely and laborious in nature. Remote sensing techniques offer the most cost-effective method in obtaining such information. Crop growth performance can be identified and mapped using information obtained from remote sensing on the basis of spectral characteristics that have been widely accepted. This study demonstrates the potential of using remote sensing technique for detecting oil palm tree growth variability. Results of the study indicate that oil palm crop performance can be explained by analyzing the shape of spectral reflectance
