Towards an Effective Decision Procedure for LTL formulas with Constraints
This paper presents an ongoing work that is part of a more wide-ranging
project whose final scope is to define a method to validate LTL formulas w.r.t.
a program written in the timed concurrent constraint language tccp, which is a
logic concurrent constraint language based on the concurrent constraint
paradigm of Saraswat. Some inherent notions to tccp processes are
non-determinism, dealing with partial information in states and the monotonic
evolution of the information. In order to check an LTL property for a process,
our approach is based on the abstract diagnosis technique. The concluding step
of this technique needs to check the validity of an LTL formula (with
constraints) in an effective way.
In this paper, we present a decision method for the validity of temporal
logic formulas (with constraints) built by our abstract diagnosis technique.Comment: Part of WLPE 2013 proceedings (arXiv:1308.2055
Drug policy reform in South America: Towards a multiaxial model of Preventive Regulation
correspondientes a una política uniaxial de guerra contra las drogasSince the creation of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) in 2008, its members evidence an
endogenous contradiction in relation to the illegal drug issue. While on one hand they are demanding
a new approach to the world drug issue, focused on human rights and promoting initiatives oriented to
harm reduction; on the other hand, many of them are implementing internal punitive measures, based
on a supply-centric strategy and criminalization of drug users. This article analyzes some important
factors that increase and constrain the coordination of a joint position among South American states
on the illegal drug topic through the definition of two approaches —uniaxial and multiaxial—. Those
approaches are characterized by the different consideration of three elements: the current legislation
that affects the states’ behavior in relation to this issue; the dimensions of the problem; and the actors
who try to exercise an influence on —and at the same time are influenced by— both the legislation and
the dimensions. This paper also argues that a multiaxial cooperation dynamic could represent a useful
long-term strategy to counterbalance the negative spillover effects of a uniaxial war on drugs polic
Metal oxide nanowire chemical sensors: innovation and quality of life
Metal oxides are emerging as important active materials for applications such as sensors. Recent advances in the preparation of metal oxide materials offer unique possibilities for their integration into devices with new capabilities, for example, wearable/flexible devices, smart textiles for well-being and health monitoring in everyday life, or with innovative sensing architectures such as work function, surface ionization, magnetic, self-heating, and Schottky-based devices. This review presents the author's opinion on innovations and challenges in the field of metal oxide nanowire chemical sensors
Uncertainties analysis of Digital Volume Correlation measurements for synchrotron-based tomographic images of bone
Abstract verification and debugging of constraint logic programs
The technique of Abstract Interpretation [13] has allowed the development of sophisticated program analyses which are provably correct and practical. The semantic approximations produced by such analyses have been traditionally applied to optimization during program compilation. However, recently, novel and promising applications of semantic approximations have been proposed in the more general context of program verification and debugging [3],[10],[7]
ion production from collisions between antiprotons and excited positronium: cross sections calculations in the framework of the GBAR experiment
see also, Corrigendum: New J. Phys. 23 (2021) 029501International audienceIn the framework of the gravitational behaviour of antihydrogen at rest (GBAR) experiment, cross sections for the successive formation of and from collisions between positronium (Ps) and antiprotons ( ) have been computed in the range 0-30 keV energy, using the continuum distorted wavefinal state theoretical model in its three-body and four-body formulations. The effect of the electronic correlations in on the total cross sections of production has been studied using three different wave functions for (the matter equivalent of ). Ps excited states up to n = 3, as well as excited states up to n = 4, have been investigated. The results suggest that the production of can be efficiently enhanced by using either a fraction of Ps(2p) and a 2 keV () beam or a fraction Ps(3d) and antiprotons with kinetic energy below 1 ke
UM TERRITÓRIO EM BUSCA DA NAÇÃO: JOSÉ BONIFÁCIO DE ANDRADA E SILVA E A CONSTRUÇÃO ECONÔMICA DO BRASIL
TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Centro Sócio-Econômico. Economia.
Stable and highly sensitive gas sensors based on semiconducting oxide nanobelts
©2002 American Institute of Physics. The electronic version of this article is the complete one and can be found online at: : http://link.aip.org/link/?APPLAB/81/1869/1DOI:10.1063/1.1504867Gas sensors have been fabricated using the single-crystalline SnO₂ nanobelts. Electrical
characterization showed that the contacts were ohmic and the nanobelts were sensitive to
environmental polluting species like CO and NO₂ , as well as to ethanol for breath analyzers and
food control applications. The sensor response, defined as the relative variation in conductance due
to the introduction of the gas, is 4160% for 250 ppm of ethanol and 21550% for 0.5 ppm NO₂ at
400 °C. The results demonstrate the potential of fabricating nanosized sensors using the integrity of
a single nanobelt with a sensitivity at the level of a few ppb
Abstract Diagnosis for Timed Concurrent Constraint programs
The Timed Concurrent Constraint Language (tccp in short) is a concurrent
logic language based on the simple but powerful concurrent constraint paradigm
of Saraswat. In this paradigm, the notion of store-as-value is replaced by the
notion of store-as-constraint, which introduces some differences w.r.t. other
approaches to concurrency. In this paper, we provide a general framework for
the debugging of tccp programs. To this end, we first present a new compact,
bottom-up semantics for the language that is well suited for debugging and
verification purposes in the context of reactive systems. We also provide an
abstract semantics that allows us to effectively implement debugging algorithms
based on abstract interpretation. Given a tccp program and a behavior
specification, our debugging approach automatically detects whether the program
satisfies the specification. This differs from other semiautomatic approaches
to debugging and avoids the need to provide symptoms in advance. We show the
efficacy of our approach by introducing two illustrative examples. We choose a
specific abstract domain and show how we can detect that a program is
erroneous.Comment: 16 page
