Gaugomaly Mediation Revisited
Most generic models of hidden sector supersymmetry breaking do not feature
singlets, and gauginos obtain masses from anomaly mediated supersymmetry
breaking. If one desires a natural model, then the dominant contribution to
scalar masses should be of the same order, i.e. also from AMSB. However, pure
AMSB models suffer from the tachyonic slepton problem. Moreover, there is a
large splitting between the gluino and the wino LSP masses resulting in tight
exclusion limits from typical superpartner searches. We introduce messenger
fields into this framework to obtain a hybrid theory of gauge and anomaly
mediation, solving both problems simultaneously. Specifically, we find any
number of vector-like messenger fields (allowed by GUT unification) compress
the predicted gaugino spectrum when their masses come from the Giudice-Masiero
mechanism. This more compressed spectrum is less constrained by LHC searches
and allows for lighter gluinos. In addition to the model, we present gaugino
pole mass equations that differ from (and correct) the original literature
Split SUSY Radiates Flavor
Radiative flavor models where the hierarchies of Standard Model (SM) fermion
masses and mixings are explained via loop corrections are elegant ways to solve
the SM flavor puzzle. Here we build such a model in the context of Mini-Split
Supersymmetry (SUSY) where both flavor and SUSY breaking occur at a scale of
1000 TeV. This model is consistent with the observed Higgs mass, unification,
and WIMP dark matter. The high scale allows large flavor mixing among the
sfermions, which provides part of the mechanism for radiative flavor
generation. In the deep UV, all flavors are treated democratically, but at the
SUSY breaking scale, the third, second, and first generation Yukawa couplings
are generated at tree level, one loop, and two loops, respectively. Save for
one, all the dimensionless parameters in the theory are O(1), with the
exception being a modest and technically natural tuning that explains both the
smallness of the bottom Yukawa coupling and the largeness of the Cabibbo angle.Comment: 55 pages, 14 figures. v2: Typos fixed and references added. v3: More

Acquisition and reconstruction of 3D objects for robotic machining
With the evolution of the techniques of acquisition of Three-Dimensional (3D) image it
became possible to apply these in more and more areas, as well as to be used for research
and hobbyists due to the appearance of low cost 3D scanners. Among the application
of 3D acquisitions is the reconstruction of objects, which allows for example to redo or
remodel an existing object that is no longer on the market. Another rise tech is industrial
robot, that is highly present in the industry and can perform several tasks, even machining
activities, and can be applied in more than one type of operation.
The purpose of this work is to acquire a 3D scene with low-cost scanners and use this
acquisition to create the tool path for roughing a workpiece, using an industrial robot for
this machining task.
For the acquisition, the Skanect software was used, which had satisfactory results
for the work, and the exported file of the acquisition was worked on the MeshLab and
Meshmixer software, which were used to obtain only the interest part for the milling
process.
With the defined work object, it was applied in Computer Aided Manufacturing
(CAM) software, Fusion 360, to generate the tool path for thinning in G-code, which
was converted by the RoboDK software to robot code, and this also allowed to make
simulation of the machining with the desired robot.
With the simulation taking place as expected, it was implemented in practice, performing
the 3D acquisition machining, thus being able to verify the machining technique
used. Furthermore, with the results of acquire, generation of toolpath and machining, was
possible to validate the proposed solution and reach a conclusion of possible improvements
for this project.
The NMDA agonist D-cycloserine facilitates fear memory consolidation in humans
Animal research suggests that the consolidation of fear and
extinction memories depends on N-methyl D-aspartate (NMDA)-
type glutamate receptors. Using a fear conditioning and extinction
paradigm in healthy normal volunteers, we show that postlearning
administration of the NMDA partial agonist D-cycloserine (DCS)
facilitates fear memory consolidation, evidenced behaviorally by
enhanced skin conductance responses, relative to placebo, for
presentations of a conditioned stimulus (CS) at a memory test
performed 72 h later. DCS also enhanced CS-evoked neural
responses in a posterior hippocampus/collateral sulcus region and
in the medial prefrontal cortex at test. Our data suggest a role for
NMDA receptors in regulating fear memory consolidation in humans
The Coronavirus pandemic has affected the world in different ways, and educational institutions have not been left out of this process. The rapid transition to the Emergency Remote Teaching format in Brazil exposed many of the flaws in the country's educational system, but also possible directions that can be observed for the progress of pedagogical practice, especially regarding the potential of Remote Teaching in learning. With the growing presence of technology in our everyday lives, understanding the age of information becomes increasingly relevant, and understanding what this means in the behavior of students and their relationship with teaching and their teachers is essential to refine the educational process. Through an analysis of the historical context of Brazilian education, the potential of traditional learning and remote learning modalities as education tools and the experience of organizing and teaching classes during the pandemic in the Emergency Remote Teaching model, this paper seeks to reflect on the possibility of taking advantage of the new technologies available as valuable tools to modernize traditional teaching methods

For this, data about the population of inmates were reviewed and organized in graphs, as well as interviews conducted with two professionals from the institution: a legal advisor and a pedagogue. Regarding the respective responses, c onsideration was given to the educational work carried out at FASE - RS, so that it is understood how it is developed and for whom the service is offered by the institution, today. Through that, it is expected that a small trail is opened towards this theme, so it is more brought up in the future, in view of the lack of studies on the topic, meanwhile attracting heed to the often - forgotten portion of the population, which are the teenagers in conflict with the law. It was identified the existence of flaws in the functioning of the system intended for resocialization and socio - education of interns
A robust shifted proper orthogonal decomposition: Proximal methods for decomposing flows with multiple transports
We present a new methodology for decomposing flows with multiple transports
that further extends the shifted proper orthogonal decomposition (sPOD). The
sPOD tries to approximate transport-dominated flows by a sum of co-moving data
fields. The proposed methods stem from sPOD but optimize the co-moving fields
directly and penalize their nuclear norm to promote low rank of the individual
data in the decomposition. Furthermore, we add a robustness term to the
decomposition that can deal with interpolation error and data noises.
Leveraging tools from convex optimization, we derive three proximal algorithms
to solve the decomposition problem. We report a numerical comparison with
existing methods against synthetic data benchmarks and then show the separation
ability of our methods on 1D and 2D incompressible and reactive flows. The
resulting methodology is the basis of a new analysis paradigm that results in
the same interpretability as the POD for the individual co-moving fields.Comment: 22 pages, 9 figures, preprin
The Breakdown of Alfven's Theorem in Ideal Plasma Flows
This paper presents both rigorous results and physical theory on the
breakdown of magnetic flux conservation for ideal plasmas, by nonlinear
effects. Our analysis is based upon an effective equation for
magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) modes at length-scales with smaller scales
eliminated, as in renormalization-group methodology. We prove that
flux-conservation can be violated for an arbitrarily small length-scale
and in the absence of any non-ideality, but only if singular current sheets and
vortex sheets both exist and intersect in sets of large enough dimension. This
result gives analytical support to and rigorous constraints on theories of fast
turbulent reconnection. Mathematically, our theorem is analogous to Onsager's
result on energy dissipation anomaly in hydrodynamic turbulence. As a physical
phenomenon, the breakdown of magnetic-flux conservation in ideal MHD is similar
to the decay of magnetic flux through a narrow superconducting ring, by
phase-slip of quantized flux lines. The effect should be observable both in
numerical MHD simulations and in laboratory plasma experiments at moderately
high magnetic Reynolds numbers.Comment: 38 pages, 1 figur
